I was going to start this article by asking why show biz personalities are continually sought out for their political opinions and then the names Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and of course, Donald Trump leapt into my head, so never mind.
I get that we’re a celebrity-obsessed culture, and since we have no royal family, Hollywood stars a are part of our aristocracy and are therefore looked at as thought leaders.
I guess I just wish their thoughts – specifically those of Hollywood liberals –weren’t so insanely hypocritical.
Saturday, the highly decorated actor George Clooney was interviewed by Chuck Todd for an interview airing today on NBC’s “Meet the Press.
The night before, Clooney and his wife Amal had hosted a fundraiser on Hillary Clinton’s behalf with a price tag of up to $353,400 per couple.
In the interview, Todd asked, Let me start with a dinner you co-hosted on Friday night. A big fundraiser, I know that you have planned for later tonight.
‘Uh, do you look at, uh, how much is being raised, and I think the cost of the Friday night dinner – $353,000 uh, a couple, to be a co-chair – do you look at it yourself and think, “That’s an obscene amount of money?”‘
Clooney responded: ‘Yes. I think it’s an obscene amount of money.’
Clooney added: ‘I think that – you know, we had some protesters last night when we, uh, when we pulled up in San Francisco, and they’re right to protest.
‘They’re absolutely right. It is an obscene amount of money.
‘The Sanders campaign when they talk about it is absolutely right.
‘It’s ridiculous that we should have this kind of money in politics. I agree completely.’
Um, then…well, why did you…? Oh never mind.
Sanders supporters staged their own protest, showering Clinton’s motorcade with dollar bills as she made her way to the fundraiser. Listen closely and you’ll hear “We’re in the Money” playing in the background.

One thing about Bernie supporters…you gotta admire their moxie.
