On Sunday, President Obama made a rare appearance on Fox News, sitting down with Chris Wallace to discuss the highs and lows of his presidency – his first interview on Fox since 2008.
While he still doesn’t think Hillary Clinton breached national security using the private server he did acknowledge it wasn’t such a great idea.
“There’s carelessness in terms of managing emails, that she has owned, and she recognizes.”
But there was an ominous warning hidden in the little tut-tutting.
Obama repeatedly said there would be no political influence over the Justice Department’ investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of her private email server while she was secretary of state, but he also emphasized “Nobody is above the law. How many times do I have to say it?”
Obama also made a rare admission about himself – that he actually is capable of making a mistake.
When asked about the worst mistake of his presidency, Obama said failing to prepare for the aftermath of the ousting of Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.
However, the BBC reports, Obama did believe intervening in Libya had been “the right thing to do”.
The US and other countries carried out strikes designed to protect civilians during the 2011 uprising.
But after the former Libyan leader was killed, Libya plunged into chaos with militias taking over and two rival parliaments and governments forming.
So-called Islamic State (IS) gained a foothold, and Libya became a major departure point for migrants trying to reach Europe.
And of course we know about that “incident” in Benghazi where the State Department, under Hillary Clinton, was unable to intervene to avoid the deaths of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Information Officer Sean Smith, and two CIA operatives, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, both former Navy SEALs.
Sadly, before the U.S. decided it needed to bomb the heck out of Libya, it was considered a “high human development” country by the United Nations:
Now it’s just a high Islamic terror development country — if it’s even still a country at all.
Despite his warning that no one is above the law, I’m still not betting on an indictment for Mrs. Clinton.
President Obama’s biggest mistake may have been making Hillary Clinton secretary of state – but America’s bigger mistake will be electing her president.
