T-shirts have gone from practical undergarments to acceptable “casual Friday” apparel to walking Twitter feeds. Today, at a Donald Trump rally in Bloomington, Illinois, one man’s shirt became such a conversation-starter, he was invited onstage with the man himself.
During remarks about immigration, Trump spotted a man in the audience wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with “Legal Immigrants for Trump.” He invited the man onstage and encouraged him to tell his story.
The man said he came to this country when he was 12 years old, and his father worked very hard to make sure his family became legal citizens. The man said, “I’m here because I’m agitated that the media doesn’t separate legal immigration from illegal,” he said, before turning to Trump and saying, “You do support immigration.”
Trump went on to assure the crowd this meeting wasn’t staged and he’d never met the man before. I’m inclined to believe that.
