There’s been quite a bit of buzz lately about alleged violence at rallies for GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. From Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields’ allegations that Trump’s campaign manager assaulted her, to rally attendees punching protesters, Trump’s campaign has found itself more than once this week answering questions about violent incidents.
In response to one alleged incident involving a black protester sucker-punched by a 78-year-old (white) Trump rallier, R&B singer Chris Brown has issued a call to arms of sorts to black people. In a tirade on Instagram, Brown called on blacks to start attending Donald Trump rallies in large groups in order to fend off possibly violent supporters.
Via Washington Times:
“Man, this s— is getting crazy,” the 26-year-old said in an angry Instagram video, the New York Daily News reported. “Black people getting assaulted at f—ing rallies where you’re supposed to talk at.”
“What you need to start doing — all these black people, go together 40, 50 deep. See what they do then,” he added. “Keep touching us, motherf—.”
Mr. Brown also included an expletive-filled caption claiming “God will have his revenge.”
“F— Trump and f— the pigs,” he wrote. “Without our black culture, Asian culture, Latin culture, Muslims and any race that you don’t approve of help you to be who the f— you are.”
“Not to mention we are the most creative, oppressed, resilient and hard workers, without us your (sic) just another simple minded scared little man,” he added.
Brown’s rant appears to have been sparked by an isolated incident — rather than a concerted attack on blacks. As we reported previously, the narrative of homogenous, racist support of Trump has been debunked more than once — most amusingly, in an awkward moment on race-baiting MSNBC.
Even putting that aside for a moment, Brown’s rant is particularly rich given the R&B singer’s own violent past. Many of us who don’t even follow Brown will recall that he pled guilty to felony assault against his girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. And just earlier this year, Brown of assaulting another woman in Las Vegas.
But hey, when’s the last time you saw a liberal let self-awareness get in the way of self-righteousness?
