Ladies and gents, one of the things I enjoy about this website is the ability to bring critical issues to your attention. The strength of America isn’t in the halls of Congress, or at 1600 Pennsylvania, or even in the hearing room of the Supreme Court. As Alexis de Tocqueville recognized in his travels across this great land back in the early 1800s, the strength of America is in its people. And when you allow your voices to combine and rise stentorian, it’s like the roar of a massive elephant herd.
And so your voices have been heard in a very critical case we’ve been sharing since last Fall. As reported by Fox News, “The old Army adage, “Hurry up and wait,” applies once again to a decorated Green Beret who protected an Afghan boy from a child molester only to see his actions jeopardize his military career.
A decision from the military on the fate of Sgt. First Class Charles Martland was due Tuesday, but now has been put off for a third time, until at least May 1. Martland, an 11-year Special Forces veteran, was stationed in Afghanistan in 2011 when he confronted a local police commander who allegedly had raped a 12-year-old boy.
“Charles did the right thing in Afghanistan by standing up to a child rapist and corrupt commander, and now it’s the Army’s turn to do the right thing and reverse the decision to expel him from the service,” Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., whose office has been assisting Martland, told FoxNews.com earlier this month.
“Permitting Charles to continue serving is in the best interest of the Army and the nation.”
Martland is not being discharged specifically for the incident, but having it on his record put him on the chopping block amid ongoing military cuts.
A spokesman for Hunter noted that Vice President Biden appeared with Lady Gaga at the Academy Awards Sunday and spoke out about sexual abuse, urging the crowd to “intervene in situations where consent cannot or has not been given.”
Your voices are making a huge difference in that this decision continues to be delayed as we will not allow it to sunset. Just consider that the Secretary of the Army and President Obama are more concerned about Soldiers being able to “self-identify” as we reported here. What about upholding the impeccable standards that are embodied in the motto of the U.S. Army Special Forces, “De Oppresso Libre”?
We need you to continue to flood the offices of the Secretary of the Army and the Chief of Staff of the Army to demand that they drop any consideration of separating SFC Charles Martland from the Army. We must demand that any negative actions be deleted in the personnel file relating to this event. SFC Martland must be promoted to Master Sergeant and allowed to continue with his valorous career of service to our nation as one of our Spartan warriors.
Now, you just have to ask, what does President Obama think about this situation? And you know what’s amazing to me? Not a single question has been asked of the White House press secretary about this situation. I would have expected at least Fox News’ White House correspondent would inquire of this situation – which reminds me, where is Bowe Bergdahl?
Here’s what’s so perplexing but typical of the Obama administration. A deserter has his parents invited to the Rose Garden. A tip of the spear Warrior, serving in the same combat theater of operations, has to wonder if he will be retained in the military and has an adverse action filed in his personnel folder. That should tell you simply with whom this progressive socialist administration aligns.
This evening is yet another Republican presidential primary debate. Someone should bring up the case of SFC Charles Martland and call out President Obama.
You see, the new American Socialist Party will be having its debate in Flint, Michigan using the backdrop of the suffering of people as a political stage. If there’s a cause to champion, it is Martland, who stood to defend a little Afghan boy from sexual abuse.
So where are the voices of the liberal progressive left? Why aren’t they speaking up? Does the left condone this type of abhorrent behavior? I have to wonder, how many times has the story of SFC Martland appeared on our liberal progressive media outlets? If someone knows, please share it with us here at [email protected] and we’ll post the answer.
I am just proud of y’all. You’re forcing the Army into the light, making them transparent, not allowing them to secretly punish this Warrior. And I also want to extend a hearty salute to my former colleague and Marine combat Veteran, Rep. Duncan Hunter who is standing up for Martland. Duncan is honoring the legacy of his dad, a former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger Infantryman and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Folks, this is why we need more combat veterans in the halls of Congress to serve and protect these Warriors who we deploy to stand on freedom’s ramparts, defend liberty and protect the weak.
That is what U.S. Army SFC Charles Martland did. Let’s make sure we tell everyone…this is not a partisan issue, unless you find child sexual abuse acceptable.
