A funny thing is happening lately to Hillary Clinton lately. People — liberals, no less — are challenging her on her record.
We shared with you this rant that pretty well destroyed Hillary’s record on a number of issues near and dear to liberals’ bleeding hearts.
And last night, Black Lives Matter activists confronted the Queen directly about her civil rights record.
Via The Blaze:
Two Black Lives Matter activists interrupted Hillary Clinton during a private fundraising event in Charleston, South Carolina, Wednesday night, in an effort to shine light on Clinton’s civil rights inconsistencies.
Protestor Ashley Williams and a colleague each paid $500 to attend the private event, which had approximately 100 people in attendance. They strategically placed themselves at the front of the crowd and waited for Clinton to appear after several other speakers spoke about racism in America and Clinton’s civil rights record.
During Clinton’s speech, Williams stood to the side with a sign that quoted what she deemed to be inconsistencies in Clinton’s record. Once the former secretary of state acknowledged her, Williams asked Clinton to apologize for supporting former President Bill Clinton’s criminal justice reforms, which allegedly led to mass incarceration of African-Americans.
However, Williams and her colleague were quickly thrown out of the event by the Secret Service.
“I wanted to bring her to confront her own words,” Williams told the Huffington Post after her protest. “We did this because we wanted to make sure that black people are paying attention to her record, and we want to know what Hillary we are getting.”
Williams cited three specific policies that she says led to unequal treatment of African-Americans in the criminal justice system: the three-strike federal sentencing program, the elimination of rehabilitation programs for drug users and an emphasis on prison construction — all programs ushered in under President Clinton.
“Hillary Clinton has a pattern of throwing the black community under the bus when it serves her politically,” Williams added. “She called our boys ‘super-predators’ in ’96, then she race-baited when running against Obama in ’08, now she’s a lifelong civil rights activist. I just want to know which Hillary is running for president, the one from ’96, ’08, or the new Hillary?”
As much as I (Michelle Jesse) am not a fan of the Black Lives Matter movement — largely for its divisive, hateful and sometimes violent tactics — it’s refreshing to see blacks call out a Democrat for their record. We’ve said it many times on this site that Democrats are largely responsible for many of the problems plaguing black communities in our country.
Hillary Clinton is not singular among Democrats in her use of black voters to win elections, with little or no genuine interest in fighting for policies that will actually improve their lives.
However, Hillary is hard to beat when it comes to her willingness to throw people under the bus when it serves her politically. And “reinventing” herself to pander to particular voter groups and trends.
I’d love to imagine Democrats are finally — FINALLY — waking up to the phony, self-interested panderer Hillary Clinton truly is. But sadly, even if they do, many of them will still vote for the “D” on their ballot come November. Even if it is Hillary Clinton.
