Religion of Peace: Look What ISIS just threatened to do to Facebook and Twitter…

We are definitely facing a different battlefield. Gone are the days when wars were waged as enemies faced each other in combat. Now weapons might as easily be bytes as bombs.

As tech-savvy ISIS burns up social media to spread horrific videos of their brutality and recruiting calls to arms, Twitter and Facebook have been working overtime to delete their accounts.

Earlier this month, Twitter reported it had suspended 125,000 accounts “for threatening or promoting terrorist acts, primarily related to ISIS.” Facebook also says it works to ensure terrorists don’t use its site,(but as we’ve personally experienced, sometimes their definition of “hate speech” is wooly).

In any event, it’s getting ugly.

As Vocativ reports, A group of ISIS hackers calling themselves “the sons of the Caliphate army” released a video on Wednesday claiming to show them hacking Facebook and Twitter accounts by changing profile pictures and posting ISIS materials and propaganda on the platforms.

The 25-minute propaganda video, showing pictures of Zuckerberg and Dorsey covered with bullet holes, was uncovered by Vocativ deep web analysts on the social-media site Telegram, which ISIS frequents. The video is titled “Flames Of The Supporters,” and ends with a direct threat to the two CEOs.

ISIS claims it hacked more than 10,000 Facebook accounts, more than 150 Facebook groups and more than 5,000 accounts on Twitter. “Many of these accounts have been given to supporters,” it says.

Over the last several months, ISIS supporters have responded to efforts to minimize its Twitter reach by moving to other platforms such as the messaging app Telegram. In the past, dating back to at least September 2014, ISIS supporters have called on “lone wolves” to target Twitter employees and even kill Twitter co-founder Dorsey.

It’s definitely a scary world. Both Dorsey and Zuckerberg live in California, where the San Bernardino terrorists lived and plotted. Who knows how many other ISIS followers and “lone wolves” are there, waiting to have their infamous day?

This battle is not going to end soon, and we’d best wake up to the reality that we are all targets.
