If Hillary Clinton is known for one thing, it’s for having a “complicated” relationship with the truth. Indeed, when voters were asked what word pops into their mind when they hear the name Hillary Clinton, “liar” topped the list.
Of course, we all know the only reason she doesn’t get called out more about her lies is that much of the mainstream media is in the tank for her. So you might be surprised to hear that CBS’s Scott Pelley actually asked the erstwhile Democrat anointed one directly if she’s always been truthful with the American people.
Her response will astound you.
Via The Blaze:
It got just a little awkward Thursday night when CBS Evening News host Scott Pelley confronted Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on the issue of honesty.
Clinton told Pelley she has “tried in every way I know how” to be straightforward and honest with the American people. That statement promoted the CBS reporter to ask Clinton about her track record.
“Have you always told the truth?” Pelley asked the former secretary of state.
“I’ve always tried to, always. Always,” Clinton quickly replied.
However, Pelley didn’t seem fully satisfied with the answer, telling Clinton that some viewers will “call that wiggle room that you just gave yourself.”
“You know, you’re asking me to say have I ever,” Clinton, somewhat bewildered, shot back. “I don’t believe I ever have! I don’t believe I ever have, I don’t believe I ever will.”
Watch for yourself:
Notice reporter Scott Pelley wasn’t even buying Hillary’s response.
I suppose it’s like depends on what the meaning of ‘is’ is… Of course, to be fair to Hillary, she does say she’ll “do the best she can” to level with the American people. Too bad we’ve already learned the hard way that when it comes to leveling with the American people, apparently Hillary Clinton’s best just ain’t even close to good enough.
