No one is going to deny that there have been racial injustices in America’s past – but today’s progressive activists talk about race as if we were living in another century. You don’t have to look very far to see groups like #BlackLivesMatter spewing their own racial hatred in response to historical injustices that they think still exist today.
To only focus on injustices in the past is to ignore the progress we’ve made throughout our history. America didn’t invent slavery – it abolished it.
The meme could more appropriately read “so their descendants could be hated by progressives,” but it conveys the same point.
All of this progress was despite liberals, not because of them. I don’t need to remind you the political party of Abraham Lincoln, or that Republicans passed the reconstruction amendments. Even during the modern civil rights movement, when it came time to vote on the 1964 Civil Rights Act over 80% of Republicans in the House and Senate supported it, compared to only 60% of Democrats.
When it comes to why liberals ignore the successes we’ve made racially throughout our nation’s history, maybe its because those successes weren’t because of them.
