Obama will HATE what schools are now doing to protect against mass shootings…

While liberals, led by President Obama, continue to push for gun control as the solution to school shootings, one Oklahoma school district is taking a decidedly different approach. And this commonsense measure to protect students from potential shooters will undoubtedly have liberals up in arms.

Via Fox News:

Officials at an Oklahoma school district said they wanted to send a clear warning to protect against potential attacks, so they put up signs on Monday alerting that staff members could be carrying guns.

The signs were erected at public schools in Okay, according to the Muskogee Phoenix. The town’s police department was reportedly disbanded in 2014, and even though sheriff’s deputies are available, Superintendent Charles McMahan says that may not be enough.

“We don’t want to be a soft target,” he told the newspaper.

One sign reads, “ATTENTION: Please be aware that certain staff members at Okay Public Schools can be legally armed and may use whatever force is necessary to protect our students.”

Other nearby school districts have opted not to implement similar policies, saying they “don’t think it’s safe.” However, schools in other states, such as South Carolina, are reportedly considering similar measures.

Under the policy approved in August for Okay, employees who wish to carry firearms must receive training and Board of Education approval.

The principal of Okay High School, Mark Hayes, reportedly pushed for the new gun policy. “There have been numerous shootings in the country, and we want to keep our students safe,” he told the Phoenix. “These are our kids.”

Most schools, of course, have traditionally been “gun-free” zones. Except for when a sick shooter enters with the intent to murder innocents souls, who are essentially sitting ducks in this situation. And waiting for the police to arrive and take down a shooter costs minutes — which can mean lives. This is a fact that police forces themselves are increasingly acknowledging, as they issue updated advice to citizens to help protect themselves.

Washington, D.C., Police Chief Cathy Lanier, for example, gives citizens this advice:

“If you’re in a position to try and take the gunman down, to take the gunman out, it’s the best option for saving lives before police can get there.”

Other police chiefs have echoed that advice.

Why wouldn’t we arm our schools to save the lives of our children before police can arrive? I understand that many parents, understandably, would prefer not to have a sign touting guns on the doors to their schools. But given the choice between this and potentially having their child be the life that could have been saved in the minutes before police arrived, what would you choose?
