There’s been an apparent rise in atheists realizing they may have been a bit unfair in lumping all religions together in their criticism of it.
Famed atheist Richard Dawkins believes Christianity may be necessary as a “bulwark against something worse” (Islam). Atheist Sam Harris believes “we have to acknowledge that Islam has doctrines like jihad and martyrdom and death to apostates… which are central to the faith in the way that they aren’t in other faiths” and complains about political correctness stifling debate on Islam.
The latest secularist driving the left mad recently is Bill Maher.
Via FOX News
Bill Maher said that the world shouldn’t cater to the “backwards” culture of Islam as he criticized a move by Rome to cover nude statues to accommodate a visit by the president of Iran.
The HBO host said there’s a difference between tolerance and capitulation.
“It’s one thing to be tolerant of another culture, but this is our culture. … We shouldn’t change our culture to a more backward culture, should we?”
Maher stepped up his criticism of Islam.
“I’m sorry to say it, but the more you know (about Islam), the more you would be afraid.”
He said that liberals need to stand with progressives within the Muslim world and not be so quick to label critics as Islamaphobic.
What will it take for the rest of the left to criticize Islam? A Muslim couple refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple?
