According to the FBI, there are ongoing ISIS-related investigations in all 50 states. That means there are probably hundreds if not thousands of individuals within our borders in various stages of radicalization. Where are they from? Take a wild guess: Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Saudi Arabia. But they might also be born and bred right here in the U.S of A. After all, Carlos Bledsoe, Jose Padilla, Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan and 27 others you haven’t heard of were all American citizens.
So should we be surprised or even outraged with this news?
Yahoo News says Saudi authorities have arrested nine American citizens among 33 “terror” suspects rounded up over the past week, the Saudi Gazette newspaper reported Sunday.
Four Americans were arrested last Monday and five others over the past four days, the paper reported, citing an unidentified source.
Washington, a strong ally of Riyadh, confirmed it was aware of the report but declined to elaborate.
A US State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP: “We are aware of reports alleging that several US citizens were detained in Saudi Arabia.
It’s a very messy, confusing world right now – if you haven’t noticed. Have you seen the film, “13 Hours?” As they said in the movie, it’s really hard to know who the bad guys are. And frankly, that goes for those folks in the White House right now as well.
