It appears French authorities have just thwarted what could have been another horrific tragedy in Paris. Multiple sources are reporting the French interior ministry confirming authorities have arrested a man at Disneyland Paris after he was found to be carrying two handguns and ammo hidden in a bag. He also had a Quran.
UPDATE: After searching for the man’s companion, authorities have arrested a woman believed to be a his companion. She was unarmed, according to French media.
A man has been arrested with two guns at an entrance to a hotel at Disneyland Paris, French police said.
The 28-year-old is not known to security services and gave no resistance when he was detained, according to French media reports.
Police said the man was also found with a copy of the Koran. He was stopped during a security check.
France remains in a state of emergency following the deadly Islamist attacks in Paris in November last year.
Police said they were searching for a companion travelling with the man.
Disneyland Paris is among Europe’s most popular tourist destinations.
No further information as yet on the identity of the man detained, though I am going to go out on a limb and assume he is Muslim — connected to radical Islam, even. Call me Islamophobic if you must.
The good news is that authorities are thwarting these attempts, such as the one FBI officials averted just the other night in Milwaukee; the bad news is that they seem to be happening regularly.
