Bernie makes STUNNING promise about raising taxes…

We reported earlier how in last night’s CNN Democrat town hall, Hillary Clinton received cushy-soft questions (e.g., which former president most inspired you?) while her main challenger, Bernie Sanders, received more substantive and pointed ones.

One such instance was when CNN’s Chris Cuomo pressed Sen. Sanders on whether he would raise taxes in order to pay for his “Medicare for all” single-payer healthcare program. The candidate’s blunt seven-word response wasn’t exactly a shocker — “We will raise taxes, yes, we will” — but the promise he made to justify it was actually pretty stunning.

Via The Blaze:Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders gave a very blunt answer Monday night when asked at the CNN town hall in Des Moines, Iowa, if he would raise taxes if elected president.

CNN anchor and town hall moderator Chris Cuomo had asked Sanders if he would raise taxes to help pay for his “Medicare for all” program, also commonly referred to as a single-payer program.

“Just to be clear, you are going to raise taxes to do this?” Cuomo asked the Vermont senator.

“Yes, we will raise taxes. Yes we will,” Sanders responded. “But also, let us be clear, because there’s a little bit of disingenunity out there, we may raise taxes but we are also going to eliminate private health insurance premiums for individuals and for business.”

Sure, Bernie’s math sounds good — instead of paying $10,000 for private insurance, under his plan you can just pay $5,000 MORE in taxes. Who can argue with that?

For the purposes of this particular discussion, let’s put aside the lack of choice and potential downgrade in quality of care (I’m being generous here) that would come with Bernie’s proposed single-payer system.

Does any right-minded person actually believe the government’s single-payer healthcare program will suddenly become more efficient than the private sector and thus be able to cut costs to consumers in half? Is that kinda like Obamacare supposed to be lowering health insurance costs for everyone? Even the Obamacare website alone demonstrated how woefully inefficient government is compared with the private sector. Oh yeah, and the government has done such a great job with the VA…

Come to think of it, can anyone point to a single example of government being more efficient and effective than the private sector?

I guess you gotta hand it to Sanders for being so wide-eyed and naive even at his age.

Of course, equally wide-eyed liberals across the Web are embracing Bernie’s “math” as “proof” the candidate has it all figured out… Yes, we just might be doomed.
