Not sure what this proves about our public school system (that you didn’t already know), but it’s disturbing nonetheless.
The Daily Mail reports A third grader has criticized Donald Trump’s position on immigration – by using a ‘Netflix and chill’ argument.
The child attacked the Republican presidential candidate’s controversial views in a letter which was later posted by Bayan Sabouri, an assistant teacher in Columbus, Ohio and widely shared online.
The note is headed with the ‘I have a dream’ line from civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
The note goes on to say that if Donald Trump becomes president, “all Asians, Africans and Mexicans have to go back to their contry (sic). The child says the U.S. population will drop dramatically but then makes a curiously racist (at least to my ears) statement: Most enginners (sic) are Indian.
Wait. What? Most engineers are Indian? But wait, the child goes on…without all those Indian engineers,
Then their (sic) won’t be no tecnolegy (sic). Without tecnolgy (sic) their’s (sic) no Netflix. Without Netflix their’s (sic) no chill.”
Now I’ll be honest. I had to look up the meaning of “Netflix and chill” only to find out according to Wikipedia: Netflix and chill is an English language slang term using an invitation to watch Netflix together as a euphemism for sex, either between partners or casually as a booty call.
And this is coming from third-grader?? Now I’m even more disturbed.
Here’s the full letter.
