Chick-fil-A has been a controversial company to the left since it was revealed the firm was co-sponsoring a conference by the Pennsylvania Family Institute which would oppose same sex marriage. The decision was defended by CEO Dan Cathy, who stated at the time they were “guilty as charged” when asked if he supported traditional marriage.
This sparked boycotts of the store, enthusiastically countered by supporters of “Chick-Fil-A appreciation day.”
Liberals still have a desire to bash Chick-fil-A despite the fact the company no longer donates money to oppose same sex marriage. So here’s their new tactic: political corruption.
As Investors Business Daily reported:
Last year, 77 out of 154, or about half, of New York’s restaurants were rat-infested — and that’s on the ritzy Upper East Side, where a meal can run into hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.
So it’s more than a little passing strange that the city targeted the city’s only Chick-fil-A for health code violations just months after it opened its doors.
Chick-fil-A was subject to all sorts of city-government opprobrium last year after its Christian owner noted his opposition to gay marriage. A boycott was called, and consumers refused to boycott it — including the consumers near gay West Hollywood, as IBD noted here .
City officials from Boston to Chicago and definitely New York condemned Chick-fil-A as “hate chicken.”
Liberals like to claim they’re for the “little guy,” but the actions here clearly contradict it. Of all the money Chick-fil-A brings in as revenue, a fraction of a cent on the dollar actually winds up in Dan Cathy’s pocket anyway.
The vast majority goes to the company’s suppliers and employees, who are not required to oppose gay marriage to supply to or work for the company. Back in 2012, one gay employee for Chick-Fil-A pointed this out, stating:
So when people boycott Chick-fil-A, it means I don’t get hours. Which means I don’t get money. Not just me, but ALL of the LGBT employees at Chick-fil-A. Yes, CFA hires LGBT people. No one’s been fired for being gay or coming out. It’s a job.
Here’s a concept liberals can’t seem to wrap their heads around: intentions don’t matter, outcomes do.
