We now know what was on the attacker’s mind when he ambushed a Philadelphia policeman in his car and shot him 13 times last night. While the city’s Mayor, Jim Kenney initially said the shooting had “nothing to do with being a Muslim or the Islamic faith,” the “Muslim-garbed” attacker himself said otherwise.
According to 6abc, “Officials say the suspect in custody for the shooting that seriously injured a Philadelphia police officer has confessed to the crime, saying he did it ‘in the name of Islam.'”
Oh, well so much for political correctness.
In a news conference Friday afternoon, Commissioner Richard Ross also said the gun used in the shooting was a police firearm that was stolen from a home.
And so much for President Obama’s stricter gun controls…
The suspect is identified as 30-year-old Edward Archer of Yeadon. He in turn was shot by by Officer Jesse Hartnett. Both survived.
Hartnett, 33, is a five-year veteran of the force. He suffered extensive injuries to his arm, but authorities say he was awake and alert prior to that surgery.
Police say the suspect fired a total of 13 shots, three of which hit Hartnett in the arm.
Hartnett was able to return fire, striking the suspect three times, police say.
While some may be disappointed the Islamist attacker was not killed, at least we have his clear admission of motive. Will Obama shed tears for this action? And if so, for whom?
