President Obama is off playing golf on his Hawaiian vacation. He has, however, taken time in an NPR interview to explain to us, the American people, that if only the media wasn’t constantly talking about fellas in masks with black flags, we would see his strategy against ISIS is working. And if that’s not a good enough excuse, well, Obama went there — he threw in the race card.
Next time the progressive socialist left starts with their disparaging and denigrating rhetoric towards me, well, I’m too much of a man to whine and use my skin color. I just don’t care what the liberal progressive left has to say because they’re sure not standing for American first principles.
And the opposition to President Obama regarding his lack of strategy and direction to engage Islamic terror and jihadism has nothing to do with cable TV or his race. It has everything to do with the truth and what’s happening.
As reported by Fox News, “A suicide bombing near Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan killed six U.S. troops and wounded two other Americans and an interpreter, a senior U.S. defense official confirms to Fox News.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing, which was the largest attack on foreign troops in Afghanistan since August. The names of those killed have not been released.
It happened at around 1.30 p.m. local time in the vicinity of Bagram, the largest U.S. military facility in Afghanistan, according to U.S. Army Brig. Gen William Shoffner. Mohammad Asim Asim, governor of Parwan province, where Bagram is located, said the bomber rammed an explosives-laden motorcycle into a combined NATO-Afghan foot patrol as it moved through a village close to the base, which is 28 miles north of Kabul.
It is the first major attack on a NATO military convoy since August 22, when three American contractors with the Resolute Support base were killed in a suicide attack on their convoy in Kabul.”
Now, I want to bring something to your attention. These Americans were killed by a suicide bomber on a motorcycle. What if that patrol had engaged this individual as he closed in on the military element? I can only wonder if the restrictive rules of engagement precluded these men from engaging with fire and preventing their deaths. What if, ever since the travails of Army 1LT Clint Lorance — as we’ve reported here – there’s been a reticence in engaging this type of intrusion, motorcycle borne aggression and assaults? Clint Lorance sits in prison at Ft. Leavenworth with a twenty-year sentence for ordering his patrol to open fire on men riding motorcycles approaching his men. We come to find out those ordered to be fired on did have explosive residue traces and links to Islamic jihadist activities. But young Clint still sits in prison, the same place where Nidal Hasan resides.
You see Mr. President, this isn’t about your skin color, it’s about your lack of caring. You want to create a distorted reality based on your intransigent ideology.
You went out and declared combat operations ended in Afghanistan. But the Taliban doesn’t care about your skin color, they care about your weakness.
You, Mr. President, threw a Rose Garden welcome ceremony for the family of Bowe Bergdahl, a damn deserter, but the family of Clint Lorance cries as their courageous son sits confined.
Here is a young son of America, a Texan, who after 9-11 answered his country’s call to arms. Clint didn’t just enlist, he returned to school and earned his commission as an officer, and you’ve had him imprisoned for facing the enemy. I suppose in your world, Mr. President, deserting before the enemy is evidence of “serving with honor and distinction.” That follows with your distortions of truth and reality.
So here we are in the combat zone – where you’ve said combat operations have ended — and we have six dead Americans. Six American families will get the horrific news that will redefine Christmas for them for years to come. It’s not about your race, religion, or any other dismissive excuse you can create. It’s about your lack of resolve.
And it’s not just that those six brave Americans were killed, there’s more, as Obama plays in his tropical paradise.
Fox News shares, “Monday’s attack came as Taliban gunmen and government forces battled for control of a strategic district in the southern province of Helmand after it was overrun by Taliban insurgents, delivering a serious blow to government forces.
Mohammad Jan Rasulyar, Helmand’s deputy governor, said insurgents took control of Sangin district on Sunday. Only Afghan army facilities in the district had not been taken by the insurgents, he said. Casualties among Afghan security forces were high, he added, though he gave no figures.
Afghan Army commandoes and special forces had arrived in Sangin to push a counter-offensive, the Defense Ministry spokesman, Dawlat Waziri, said. He told reporters the Afghan air force had conducted 160 combat and transport flights over Sangin in the past 48 hours.
Among the insurgent forces in Helmand, “three out of 10 are foreign fighters,” he said, adding that they included Pakistanis, Chechens, Uzbeks, Arabs and Chinese Uighurs. “The presence of the foreigners in this imposed war complicates the situation in Helmand,” he said, echoing the government line that the war is run by a Taliban leadership believed to be based in Pakistan with official protection.”
I suppose we shouldn’t talk about what’s happening in Sangin either, a place that has always been a hotbed of Taliban activity. Because if we wouldn’t speak of it and allow Obama to deliver his message, we’d all be so very enlightened.
We are losing folks — not just losing, we are being embarrassed unnecessarily. I do not subscribe to the concept of nation building. I do embrace the ideal of strike operations that seek out the enemy wherever he seeks sanctuary and defeats him. Losing troops to a motorcycle suicide bomber doesn’t have to happen.
However, if there are rules of engagement, which give the enemy the initiative and advantage, well, this is the result. It disheartens me that we have a sideshow election cycle going on, and not a single candidate is speaking decisively about being a commander in chief. And the one who now carries that title is nothing more than a disingenuous whiner — sorry folks, gotta call it as it is. Does anyone have a better characterization?
How much more will the enemy reclaim and surge before we can correct the horrible mistakes of 2008 and 2012? How many more American families will have that car pull up to their driveways? It doesn’t have to be so. We can defeat this Islamist enemy. We just need leadership.
