Given recent atrocities carried out by ISIS and other radical Muslims globally, it is apparent they are hell bent on destroying every vestige of Christianity on planet Earth. On any given day, you can google Muslims killing Christians (or Jews, or Yazidis etc…) and find dozens of stories, accounts and commentaries about the atrocities suffered by Christians at the hands of Muslims in their seemingly endless efforts to make Christianity just go away.
But this story has a different twist. This story is about Christian churches volunteering to go away — all in the name of “hospitality.” Leaders of Christian churches in Europe — are now in the process of removing all vestiges of Christ and Christianity from their churches so Muslim immigrants will feel “comfortable.” Are these Christian churches publicly denying Christ?
As Infowars reports, “A Protestant church in Oberhausen, Germany is set to remove Christian crosses, altars and pulpits in order to accomodate 50 Muslim migrants who were invited to stay in the building.
“The parish had offered that to the city,” Oberhausen city spokesperson Rainer Suhr told Handelsblatt.
“Before the refugees can move in, the seats have to be taken away. Also the altar, the pulpit and font are movable,” said the superintendent of the Oberhausen church district Oberhausen, Pastor Joachim Deterding.
Sanitary facilities with washing machines will be installed next to the church, while free lunches will also be delivered to the migrants.
While Germany is beginning to turn over Christian churches in order to house the influx of Muslim migrants, it is only following Sweden’s lead.
Last month a Swedish news agency reported that Eva Brume, the first openly gay/lesbian Bishop of a mainstream denomination in the world, announced that all outward signs of Christianity have to go, in the name of “hospitality.”
“With hundreds of thousands more migrants set to pour into Sweden, a Bishop in Stockholm has proposed removing crosses from a Christian church and replacing them with Islamic symbols in order to cater for Muslims.
Bishop Eva Brunne wants to remove Christian symbols from the Seamen’s Church to make the building “more inviting” for Muslims, reports SVT, Sweden’s national public TV broadcaster.
“Leasing a room to people of other faiths, does not mean that we are not defenders of our own faith. Priests are called to proclaim Christ. We do that every day and in every meeting with people. But that does not mean that we are hostile toward people of other faiths,” wrote Brunne, attempting to justify the plan.
“Brunne, wants the church to be treated more like a public airport, where prayer rooms are made available to Muslims, by removing Christian symbols and “marking the direction of Mecca.”
The proposal has drawn backlash, with Patrik Pettersson, priest of the Oscars parish in Stockholm, arguing, “The church chapel can not reasonably be equated with prayer rooms at airports and hospitals. The Christian church and chapels are not just any public areas.”
The Seamen’s Church Director, Kiki Wetterberg, also publicly opposed the idea.”
“I have no problem with Muslim or Hindu sailors coming here to pray. But I believe that we are a Christian church, so we should keep the symbols. If I visit a mosque I do not ask them to take down their symbols. It’s my choice to go in there,” said Wetterberg.”
Aside from the obvious irony that Bishop Brunne is willing to remove Christ-like objects from her church to roll out the welcome mat to people, who in their own country might behead her, stone her, or throw her off a roof for being a lesbian, maybe we need to take a closer look at what’s going on. Is this just a case of progressive leftists tying themselves into a pretzel twist to extend hospitality to weary travelers or is it something much worse? These church leaders seem ready and willing to rid their churches of the very symbols of their beliefs. Are they opening their doors with the message of Christ and His love or are they opening the doors, after removing Christ and His message, and presenting the world’s message of political correctness?
I’m wondering…when removing a crucifix isn’t enough, and when putting church pews in storage isn’t enough, and when erecting a road sign pointing east isn’t enough to placate religious fanatics who want you dead and gone, will the Bishop recommend falling on a sword? I’m not sure how far these people will go in order to ingratiate themselves to people from another culture, but I do know what their own Christian Bible says about “denying Christ” openly. Methinks they are trying to walk down a very slippery slope.
