Over the weekend, we reported that ISIS had claimed responsibility for the fatal crash of Metrojet flight KGL 9268 carrying tourists from the Egyptian resort of Sharm al-Sheikh to St. Petersburg.
Russian officials initially said there was no way ISIS could have brought the plane down because shoulder-fired surface-to-air-missiles don’t have a range high enough – the plane was flying at 31,000 feet when it began its fall.
But that’s not the only way to make a plane crash.
As the Daily Mail reports, “Alexander Neradko, head of Russia’s federal aviation agency, confirmed the jet disintegrated at high altitude in a remote region where Egypt is fighting ISIS and al-Qaeda-backed terrorists.

They cite fact there was no distress call and fuselage skin peeled outwards from ‘force acting outwards from within’ Russian expert close to investigation likened disaster to 1988 Lockerbie tragedy when Boeing was blown out of sky.
A top official at Russian airline Metrojet also blamed ‘external activity’ for the disaster, insisting the jet was in ‘excellent’ condition and that the pilots ‘totally’ lost control of the aircraft.
Alexander Smirnov, the deputy general director of Metrojet’s parent company Kogalymavia, told reporters in Moscow today that the cause of the crash ‘could only have been a mechanical impact on the plane’ in the air.
Data from the plane’s black box recorders also revealed that the aircraft was not struck from the outside and confirmed the pilots did not make a distress call before it disappeared from radar, a source in the committee analysing the devices has said.”
Flight KGL 9268 was flying at an altitude of 31,000 feet, exactly the same height as Pan Am flight 103.
Is it was indeed a bomb that brought the plane down, the question isn’t IF, but when and how Putin will retaliate. Something tells me he won’t just give a speech.
