Only about a month after his magical mystery tour through the Middle East, which culminated with America’s complete capitulation to Iran during negotiations over nuclear weapons, John Kerry’ moved on to the next global crisis. You might think this would be Russia’s resurging global dominance and recent smackdown of the U.S. over Syria. But you’d be wrong.
No, Kerry’s now shaping up to be the point man in the liberal left’s efforts to never let a good crisis go to waste — even if the crisis doesn’t exist.
According to Kerry, America may need to brace for the next huge wave of “refugees” needing to be relocated — presumably, to America. Would they be fleeing the carnage in another war-torn country in Africa or the Middle East? Nope. According to Kerry, they would be fleeing the weather — as in global warming, AKA climate change.
Breitbart brought us the pronouncement:
Speaking at a town hall type event Kerry described climate refugees as people who had to leave their homes because of drought, rising sea levels, and thawing permafrost.
“[T]he day could come, if we don’t respond rapidly, you could have millions of climate refugees. You could have people moving from whole areas where today you can grow things and tomorrow you can’t,” he said.
He remarked that more world leaders had begun to talk about this rising threat in many of his international meetings, although he admitted that the issue was not yet a “crescendo.”
International organizations, like the United Nations, he admitted, would have to codify the term “climate refugee” and put it into law. That would grant special immigration privileges to immigrants claiming refugee status, allowing them to move to other countries.
“I think it’s just a matter of time before it fits in under a category and countries have — and the refugee process has legitimately incorporated it into our policy,” Kerry said.
Never mind that more and more scientists are trying to put the brakes on the global warming train — since renamed the climate change train because global warming actually stopped 16 years ago. Or that Nobel Prize-winner Dr. Ivar Giaever, a previous Obama supporter, came out in July and called President Obama “dead wrong” on climate change. Kerry’s forging ahead with — wait, WHAT? Was this just the secretary of state going off-script, or might this be the next pretext for bringing hundreds of thousands more “refugees” to the U.S. for resettlement?
Just food for thought.
