We recently reported here about a U.S. congressional delegation being harassed by loving emissaries of the religion of Islam on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
This is apparently not an isolated occurrence, and in fact the security situation in Jerusalem is deteriorating rapidly.
For the uninitiated, the Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism, and the third holiest site in Islam. During the 1967 Six-Day War, Israeli forces took control of the Old City of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount. A few days after the war, as many as 200,000 Jews flocked to the Western Wall, making it the first mass pilgrimage since the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. But shortly after, Levi Eshkol, Prime Minister of Israel at the time, ceded control of access to the Temple Mount to the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf (Islamic legal form of endowment).
Under the terms of the 1994 Israel-Jordan peace treaty, signed by Jordan’s King Hussein and Israel’s Yitzhak Rabin (during Bill Clinton’s presidency), the Temple Mount remains under the custodianship of Jordan’s Muslim Waqf. Non-Muslims may enter the compound during only 3 hours each day but are forbidden from praying or performing any religious rites there.
According to the Temple Institute, a non-profit organization located in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, “Muslim women are paid a daily stipend by the Muslim Brotherhood (Hamas) to be present on the Temple Mount during the hours that Jews are allowed on the Mount, and to verbally and physically harass the Jewish worshipers from the moment they enter the Mount to the moment they exit the Mount.
“The Israel police, following strict orders, do nothing to prevent the attacks nor intervene once the attacks have occurred, (due to government fear of offending the Muslims).” Apparently, even Israel has its own problem with political correctness.
This video, posted on the Temple Institute’s Facebook page shows a Jew being attacked by Muslims when he tries to drink from a public water fountain.
The post says, the police refuse to come to the aid of the Jew or to arrest the Muslims who attacked him. A second Jew who did succeed in drinking from the public fountain was arrested by the police. The police have recently decreed that Jews are not allowed to carry water with them onto the Temple Mount, nor are they allowed to drink from the public water fountain on the Temple Mount.
Muslims are allowed to drink and eat in any of the open areas on the Temple Mount. They also engage in soccer matches and martial arts on the Temple Mount.
It has been reported that Muslims have now begun to shut off the water to the public drinking fountain for the duration of the three hours that Jews are allowed onto the Temple Mount in the morning, reopening the taps as soon as the Jews leave.
Here’s another video, filmed and uploaded onto an Arabic language Facebook page, which shows what happens when three Jews try to drink from the public fountain. A Muslim Waqf employee tries to physically block their way and repeatedly turns off the tap when the Jews do succeed in turning the water on. An Israeli policeman tries to block the Waqf employee without engaging in physical contact with him.
But this “hands off” approach is not doing Jews any favors. As the Jewish Press reports, an American woman who moved to Israel seven months ago was actually punched in the ribs by one of the women. Conveniently, the attacker was fully clad in a burka, including a veil on her face, so identification would be impossible – assuming the police would even take action.
The anti-Israel Boycott Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement argues that Israel has constructed an apartheid state because it’s trying to keep rock and bomb-throwing terrorists contained in Gaza and the West Bank.
But you see what trying to “coexist” gets you. Seems like the ones trying to build an apartheid state are on the other side.
