We’ve recently learned about covert meetings between Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart and President Barack Obama. There’s no doubt the Obama White House has displayed a very adept ability to leverage pop culture to convey their propaganda. It goes beyond being Orwellian and enters into the realm of Goebellian — and please spare me the unrighteous indignation for this comparison. However, just when you thought the Obama administration could not sink any lower, they somehow found enough soft soil to dig deeper.
As reported over at Breitbart.com:
In a new video from Global Zero, Queen Nor of Jordan, actors Jack Black, Morgan Freeman, Natasha Lyonne, Farshad Farahat, former CIA operations officer Valerie Plame and retired U.S. Ambassador Thomas Pickering all argue in favor of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran.
After making fun of any one worried about the possibility of Iran attacking the Untied States with a nuclear bomb, the video instructs viewers to call their representatives in Congress and urge them to support the Iran deal because, echoing the Obama Administration, they claim the only alternative is war with Iran.
You can view the video here.
Now, what I find shamefully hilarious is not a single one of these individuals exhibit an ability to articulate a thoughtful point regarding this Iranian deal on their own. Sadly, these talking heads don’t realize Iran’s been at war with America since 1979. I guess when Iranian leadership chants “Death to America” — it’s all just a joke that, according to these court jesters, shouldn’t be taken seriously.
And given they’re just parroting Obama’s line of “war is the only alternative,” perhaps I should share the following quote with this gathering of apologists and sheep.
“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice; a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice, — is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other.”― John Stuart Mill, Principles of Political Economy
And let me very clear: those of us who’ve been on battlefields know the ramifications — the pain and sacrifices. But the individuals who participated in this video represent the epitome of “the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling.” These are the folks who were referred to during our Revolutionary War as ‘tories.’ These are the people who never would’ve stood for liberty; instead, they would’ve surrendered in pathetic shame to tyranny.
I find it just unbelievable that, in the face of Iran’s crazed clerics, we cower in fear and become, as Osama bin Laden stated, “the paper tiger.” Jon Stuart Mill carefully articulated the principal reason why a war should be endeavored and fought, “a war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice” — that’s why the rhetoric of cowards is being embraced all across the globe by despots, dictators, autocrats and theocrats. These poor dispirited souls, who care for nothing more than their own personal safety — you can bet they have personal security — yet would imperil our nation’s future, are utterly despicable.
Mill accurately refers to those on this video as “miserable creatures who have no chance of being free.”
But take heart, America. Jack Black, Morgan Freeman, Farshad Farahat, Valerie Plame, and the others will be kept free by the exertions of true Americans, lions. The incessant noise of the sheep will be drowned out by the powerful roar. America as a nation will, as it states in Isaiah 40:31, “mount up upon wings like Eagles.” We will not grow faint or weary. Our strength shall be renewed. I know the Ayatollahs are viewing this video and believing they’ve achieved victory. They’ve only won a battle, but the victory shall indeed be ours. We’ll herd the sheep into a pen with lots of grass, and then the fighters will arise and provide them with the safety they’re incapable of providing.
It was Plato who said, “only the dead have seen the end of war.” I’m not about dying, but rather living — and living to the fullest in the greatest nation the world’s ever known. Let’s all remember when the Lions of Lacedaemon, the Spartans, stood before the invading Persians at Thermopylae 480 BC. When King Leonidas was told by Xerxes’ army to lay down his arms, his reply was not, “OK, we were just kidding and don’t really want to fight, because surrender and appeasement is a better course of action to war.”
Nope, he replied with two simple words, Molon Labe.
Death to America? You first!
