With the dearth of role models amongst our political leaders, pop stars and athletes in a world that seems increasingly upside-down, it’s refreshing to see one who can both inspire us to aim higher and ground us amidst the turbulence.
You may already know NFL quarterback Tim Tebow to be a vocally pro-life advocate, shaped largely his mother’s decision to give birth to him, despite doctors warning her that killing him was the only way to save her life. (Incidentally, his mother’s doctors described him as a “fetal tumor” and “mass of cells” that had to be removed. Yikes.)
Now, when you hear what NFL star Tim Tebow just said, you’ll know exactly why he just grabbed both our attention and admiration.
As Louder with Crowder shares:
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback addressed more than 2,000 Christians Saturday at God’s Purpose for America, an event to encourage individuals to stand up for Judeo-Christian values.
Tebow spoke about his upbringing, experiences as a college and professional quarterback, and current ministry:
“What’s amazing when you get up and do something is what God does in your life. We just have to get up and do something. When your identity is found in Christ, your identity never changes. You are always a child of God. That’s why I always say I don’t have to live the roller coaster that the rest of the world lives …”
Get up and do something. Whether it be in the realms of politics, your community, your local church… just do something!
It’s not enough for us to sit on the sidelines and point fingers. It’s not enough for us to tell everyone else what’s wrong with the rest of the world. What we say doesn’t matter. It’s what we do. So get up, get out there, and do something!
In an environment swept by an entitlement mentality, with so much of our country screaming for things to be handed to them, it’s great to hear someone reminding us that each of us has both the power and the responsibility to do something. It’s an idea so fundamental to the greatness of our nation, yet sadly one seemingly less en vogue these days. Too many people waiting for someone else to do something FOR them, rather than doing something for themselves.
We need more voices — and examples — like Tebow’s. Let’s all give Tim Tebow a big AMEN and spread his message around!
