When President Obama visits Kenya next week, he’ll be greeted by Kenyans with a, shall we say, striking message. Apparently Kenyan Republican Liberty party leader Vincent Kidala and his followers think President Obama may be dazed and confused about women, men, and marriage — particularly in light of the president’s recent jubilation over the Supreme Court’s decision to allow same-sex marriage.
So they plan to teach him a lesson he’s unlikely to soon forget.
According to The Star:
A little-known party has sought permission to show US President Barack Obama the differences between a man and a woman through a nude protest.
The peaceful demonstration against homosexuality will begin at 10 am at the Freedom Corner, on July 22 and 23, said Republican Liberty party leader Vincent Kidala.
“The procession shall be carried out by approximately 5,000 totally naked men and women to protest over Obama’s open and aggressive support for homosexuality,” Kidala said in a letter to the county commander on Monday.
This comes after the White House downplayed demands by a section of Kenyan leaders for Obama to avoid gay talk during his visit.
The US President is not expected to shy off any topic, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said, in response to a question on the matter, during a press briefing last Tuesday.
Anyone else find it funny that the president feels free to pressure African nations like Kenya and Nigeria about gay rights, while turning a blind eye to atrocities committed against gays in places like Iran?
“I had not been made aware of that particular announcement from Kenya. Obviously, we have been clear that when the President travels around the world, he does not hesitate to raise concerns about human rights,” he said.
While you’re at it, Mr. President, maybe you raise concerns about some of these other human rights issues. For example, our four illegally held prisoners who continue to rot in Iran’s jails; the custom of grabbing women as “booty” and then selling them as sex slaves; and the killing of thousands of Christians at the hands of Islamic thugs? Better yet, instead of “raising concerns” for your PR opps, how about actually DOING SOMETHING about them?
