More than once we’ve provided a little tutorial on the history and evolution of the word “Palestine” — perhaps you might want to refresh your memory. Therefore, this whole “Israeli occupation” theme is just another of those false narratives of propaganda promulgated to confuse those who aren’t students of Middle East and ancient history. Nonetheless, here in modern times many continue to support the deceit, all to the detriment of a declared ally, the State of Israel.
As reported by Haaretz, “An Israeli border policeman was critically wounded in a stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem Sunday morning. The officer was stabbed in the neck, but managed to shoot the attacker before collapsing.
“When we arrived, we found a young man around 20 lying unconscious with a number of stab wounds to his upper body,” Magen David Adom paramedic Aharon Adler told Haaretz.” “We immediately provided life-saving treatment and evacuated him to Shaare Zedek hospital in very serious condition.” The officer’s condition stabilized after undergoing surgery, the hospital said Sunday afternoon.
According to an Israel Police spokesperson, the perpetrator was an 18-year-old Palestinian who lives in the West Bank. He was evacuated to Hadasah, Ein Kerem hospital in critical condition.”
The constant attacks are a reflection that if there is to be peace in the Middle East, it has to be based on common respect and regard — and a willing peace partner. There can be no doubt that the recurrence of such attacks in Jerusalem is the result of the incendiary speech and encouragement lent towards these “lone wolf jihadist” attacks. It’s something the people of Israel have to contend with in everyday life.
I remember being in Jerusalem during a Congressional visit in 2011 and going for an early morning run. I had decided to run around the Old City but in going around the East Jerusalem side, well, it was a little different and that security sense perked up.
That shouldn’t be the case if there were a mutual sense of “coexist” – not as I often state, a one-way street of tolerance leading to cultural suicide. It’s time we stop making excuses.
Consider the general neighborhood in which Israel now finds itself — Jabhat al-Nusra, ISIS, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, Al Quds Martyrs Brigade — replete with the most vile and vicious of Islamic jihadist terrorist groups. And let us not forget the specter of Iran, which has made its intent for Israel well known, stating that the destruction of Israel is non-negotiable, as we reported here. What is the message sent to Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and the Israelis? It is about their survival. And this most recent attack, among the many others, is just another reminder of the terror environment in which our “best ally” resides.
“Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman blasted the Palestinian Authority and the current Israeli government following the attack. Lieberman said that today’s attack, combined with the recently renewed rocket fire from Gaza and Friday’s shooting in the West Bank, are the result of the Palestinian Authority’s incitement combined with the “weakness exuded by the Israeli government.”
Lieberman then called on the government to take practical steps to ensure the security of Israeli citizens, primarily through aggressive moves against Hamas in Gaza and the West Bank. The stabbing comes amid recent tensions in Jerusalem over the past several days, particularly after incidents of stone-throwing around the Old City. On Saturday, stones were thrown at a bus and a private vehicle, lightly injuring the driver. Later Saturday night, a firebomb was thrown at the Beit Hanina-Neve Yaakov junction. This is the first attack in Jerusalem since late May, when two Jewish youths were stabbed by a knife-wielding assailant in Jerusalem’s Old City land hospitalized with light to moderate wounds. The suspect, a Palestinian man, fled the scene but was later apprehended by security services at his East Jerusalem home.”
I am sickened that we get very little reporting of these incidents here in America. Yet we continue to hear about the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement against Israel. We continue to hear about the levying of crimes against Israel. It’s as though western media has a deliberate goal of assisting the Islamic jihad in destroying Israel — and it seems we’re aiding and abetting this endeavor.
Anyone remember what the words “never again” meant?
