Israel’s Worst Nightmare: Look Who’s Selling Rockets to Iran

One of Israel’s worst fears is coming true! Russia recently announced that it has chosen to sell Iran advanced S-300 surface-to-air missiles. This will re-ignite an $800 million agreement between Russia and Iran that began in 2007, but came to a halt due to strong objections from U.S. and Israel.

However, according to the Washington Post, Russians recently reported to U.S. news sources, “that sending the missile system to Iran wouldn’t jeopardize security in the region.”

I wonder which “region” they’re referring to, because it just so happens that these missiles will have long enough range to reach Israel. Also, Israeli officials have warned that Iran’s possession of them will wield dangerous consequences.

What kind of consequences you ask?

Israeli officials warned years ago that if Iran were to secure these 200-kilometer range missiles, Iran would have “the capacity to hit planes in northern Israel.”

Breitbart
adds: “Putin is calling the world’s bluff. He is setting a deadline for Israel to make a fateful choice, and daring the Obama administration to intervene…Putin knows full well that he is triggering an Israeli countdown–and he has been happy to do so in the past. From his point of view, it makes little difference whether Iran or Syria actually use the weapons he is selling them, so long as their money is good and the two regimes remain somewhat dependent on Russian protection.”

This is serious. Russia is about to help militarize Iran to such a degree that will jeopardize the safety of Israel, and many are wondering whether or not the U.S. will intervene.

LOL the author is relying on the fact that her readers don’t know the metric system. American exceptionalism I suppose. Range of those missiles is 200 kilometers according to the author. Converted in miles that’s 124.274. There is 1788 km or 1111 miles between Israel and Iran. In other word those missile can’t get nowhere near Israel. No mentioning those missiles are anti-aircraft missiles according to the article the author links to. Not only the author doesn’t think her readers know how to count but also expect them not to know how to read.

Relying on the fact that the author knows that most of these readers have the common sense of a biscuit!!!

You are correct. These are anti-aircraft missiles 3rd or 4th generation capable of Mach 3. They are meant to protect the Iranian nuclear sites. Making it unlikely that a air campaign would be capable knocking this sires out.

Now that’s a very good point. Maybe you should have written that piece. But that only makes Iran guilty of wanting to defend their airspace. After all they also have a right to exist. Why should they trust Israel to only hit nuclear targets, not make mistakes? If Obama’s deal comes through we might not have to find out why.

Because they could do it now, today, yesterday, last year. They could’ve years ago. They haven’t because they want to live in peace.

Are you saying Iran wants to live in peace? I hope you are right but I am thinking they are just biding their time until they have enough fire power to blow Israel off the map.

With its range of 200 km (not nearly far enough to hit planes over Israel which is over 1000 km away from Iran no matter what the article says) the S-300 is really only useful for defending Iranian airspace. Now, that could still be a problem for us and Israel if they decide they’re going to rebuild their nuclear weapons program and rely on the S-300 combined with a point defense system like the SA-22 to defend the facilities It could make it impossible for the Israeli air force to destroy them. It would be up to us to destroy… Read more »

Why mislead people when you have this very valid point. Even if I have a feeling it’s more Netanyahu’s paranoia than the Isralis been nervous. I don’t get the purpose of bullshitting people about those missiles been able to reach Israel when it can so easily be disproved.

The article in the JPost started talking about selling them to Iran and then in the next paragraph mentioned that sales to Syria had been cancelled. That’s where it mentioned missiles being able to hit Israeli airspace. Syria of course is right next to Israel and S-300 launchers stationed in southern Syria could reach as far south as Gaza. It’s an easy mistake to make if you’re skimming the document casually. But if someone is trying to write an article for an audience of several thousand I would hope they paid a little more attention.

It’s the multi-stage ballistic missiles that are the real worry.

Don’t expect Barack Hussein Obama or his sidekick Lurch aka John Kerry to do anything about it. They hate Israel almost as much as they hate America.

That warning about hitting planes in Israel was for missiles sold to Syria (click the link). The distance between Iran and Israel is over 1000 KM just border to border. Additionally the 200Km version SARH guidance, that means Line of sight.

Tehran to Tel-Aviv is 1111 miles. Both Obama and Biden made that point in the debates. But the rubes where looking for “zingers” that went way over their head. .
