INSANITY: Two things the EPA wants to regulate in your life

Ladies and gents, I just cannot ascertain when the absurdity of this current administration will cease. The weather is finally warming up and one of the rituals of spring and summer is the family BBQ. Well, it is for now until the Environmental Protection Agency has its way.

As reported by Fox News, “the EPA is funding a $15,000 University of California-Riverside study to look at the particulate emissions you breathe when grilling over an open flame. Along with the drip tray, the emission removal system includes the use of a “secondary air filtration system is composed of a single pipe duct system which contains a specialized metal filter, a metal fan blade, a drive shaft, and an accompanying power system with either a motorized or manual method,” according to study. ”

Why is the EPA concerned about BBQ grill emissions? Who are these people and why are they using one single dime of American taxpayer dollars for this tomfoolery?

The EPA has responded by stating, “that it doesn’t regulate people’s backyard barbecues and that the grant is part of the EPA’s “National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet (2014)”, which is a student-designed competition for sustainability” — sustainability of exactly what may I ask?

This is yet another example of how the administrative bureaucratic state is far out of control. I would like to know the name of the person who signed off on this grant. One thing is for sure, some folks aren’t taking this lying down.

Earlier this week, “State Senator Eric Schmitt (R) from St. Louis kicked off a #porksteakrebellion after he discovered the EPA is funding a study on propane grill emissions that suggest pit masters use a special tray to catch grease drippings and a “catalytic” filtration system to reduce air pollution, reports Fox News KTVI.”

So imagine what “King of the Hill” star Hank Hill would say to all of this? I believe he would be absolutely flabbergasted — even Peggy Hill would probably go nuts over this one, along with Bobby. And their neighbor Dale would certainly see this as a government surveillance conspiracy.

Folks, we can laugh bt this is very disturbing and serious — consider this EPA insanity also reported by Fox News, “The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wants hotels to monitor how much time its guests spend in the shower. The agency is spending $15,000 to create a wireless system that will track how much water a hotel guest uses to get them to “modify their behavior.” “Hotels consume a significant amount of water in the U.S. and around the world,” an EPA grant to the University of Tulsa reads. “Most hotels do not monitor individual guest water usage and as a result, millions of gallons of potable water are wasted every year by hotel guests.” “The proposed work aims to develop a novel low cost wireless device for monitoring water use from hotel guest room showers,” it said. “This device will be designed to fit most new and existing hotel shower fixtures and will wirelessly transmit hotel guest water usage data to a central hotel accounting system.”

And here’s how the EPA tries to explain this one: “This technology will provide hotel guests with the ability to monitor their daily water online or using a smartphone app and will assist hotel guest in modifying their behavior to help conserve water,” the grant said.

This reminds me of those words President Reagan warned us about, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Notice those eerie words, “modifying their behavior?” That’s the progressive socialist way, executed by coercion, intimidation and taxation.

So get this: if you’re at home and burn the BBQ meat because your new EPA catalytic converter failed, everyone gets mad at you. And when everyone at the BBQ gets mad at you, your self-esteem is hurt. When your self-esteem is hurt, you withdraw to a local hotel room. At the local hotel room you use too much water violating EPA mandates and are put in jail. When you are put in jail you find a new friend name Leroy. Don’t find a new friend name Leroy, don’t buy an EPA catalytic converter for your BBQ grill.

Someone signed off on this and allocated your taxpayer dollars. But someone out there could have used this $30,000 far more wisely.

  1. Ok – Heads cut off: downplay, sit on it, not look at cause.
BBQ fun – warnings, concern, change.
    There are no words.

  2. The first time I see a water monitor device in a hotel room is the same time that I turn the shower on and leave it running for the entire duration of my stay.

      • So they’ll send it to a collection agency. Hotels have every right to monitor your usage of a resource that they have to pay for. Now do I think the EPA should be funding the research into how to monitor it? That, I’m not so sure about.

      • My water usage is included in my room charge. If they want to charge me more for too much water, better be up front about it. No e are so.. TFB.

      • Your paying good money for that hotel room. Dammit, the water and electricity in the room should NOT be an extra charge! ♣

      • Why not? Water and electricity cost money. You pay good money for an apartment but that doesn’t mean you get electricity and water in the package.

      • But daily hotel rent is much higher than apartment rent so water & electric should indeed be in the package! Always has been and shouldn’t change. ☺

      • Drinks and food used to be included in the price of a plane ticket until low cost airlines like Spirit and Southwest started figuring out how to minimize costs and sell flights cheaper. Now you can fly from New York to Denver for $200 as long as you don’t mind paying for your own Diet Coke. That’s the free market at work.

      • Drinks and food are no longer a flight freebie because post-9-11 security measure costs now require passengers to pay extra for food, drinks and checking luggage. The era of “fly the friendly skies” and “we really move our tails for you” is long gone. Now it’s “You’re lucky if we let you board the damn plane!” ♣

      • Why clutter everything with your bullshit. Hotels charging is not the issue. Start your own thread about hotel use, this is about EPA regulations. Grow up and get a real concern in the world and catch up with the program.

      • I didn’t start this thread. That would be Dan. And there are no EPA regulations yet. Why are you taking time away from your concerns in the real world to waste your time arguing with me? Go start your own thread to cry about how other people don’t want to talk about the things you want to talk about.
P.S. Interrogative sentences end with a question mark, not a period.

  3. Clean water waste I can understand, we have less and less clean drink water every year. But the BBQ one, now that is a waste of money lol

      • Hmnm not anywhere near the left. You will never find any comment agreeing with leftist from me. The clean water which you claim I do not agree with. California may have a problem , no where else do I know of.

  4. I think these are great ideas. I’m thinking water monitors should be installed in the White House immediately, as well as having the advance team for any WH travel to make sure water monitors are installed in any hotel rooms to be occupied by the First Family. This should also be mandatory for all Federal apparatchiks and elected officials. “Lead by example” is what I always say. And they can all eat MREs to cut down on cooking emissions.

      • You’re so right wyzox! They don’t allow any burning where I live yet less than ten miles away are the biggest coke ovens in the world spewing out tons of stinky coal cooking smoke!

      • Not where I’m from ! They still burn the leaves and their yards and in the spring everything is very green and beautiful !

  5. Why not individual tanks like the Euro’s? You will only use so much. No it’s not the conservation, it is the MONITORING.

  6. How have we allowed things to get this far off track? Government is so far out of control, how do we reign them in at this point?

    • There is no reigning in. What the government takes, it never gives back. Goodbye backyard barbecues and goodbye morning showers, two of the former benefits of civilization.

  7. Does the hotel, and did the guest, pay for the water? I would say yes. If that’s the case, then what is the problem? Is there a water shortage that I don’t know about? Oh I see, it’s something the government doesn’t control. Makes sense now.

    • EPA wants us to stop bathing now. Gotta love that tactic.
Like I bath more in a hotel than home. Get real its hard enough to get myself in the damn dirty things than to think I spend a sec longer than I need too. Anyone remember in the 80 when hotel/motels governed the amt of hot water you received and in one room you would have hot water shut off and go into the suite next door and the water would be hot. But, call office and they would pretend they didn’t speak english and say “our water all cold”. Your like, “well we have magic in Mom and Dads room they got hot water”. This is headed to your homes if you act like sheep. They have your address, your account numbers, and now just how nasty water waisty you are.

  8. So you’re upset about a $15,000 grant for a university study? Do you get upset when the Koch brothers dump benzene or formaldehyde into the water system and pay the measly fine, then turn around and sue the EPA.
    You jokers crack me up!

    • Actually, people do get upset when a company illegally dumps toxins into the water. Explain to me how you made that jump that because some people don’t want $15,000 completely wasted on a useless study that we don’t care if toxins are dumped into rivers. Go ahead…explain.

What’s more interesteing is the fact that you don’t care that $15,000 of tax payer money (perhaps your money) is being wasted. Also, this is just a single example of MANY of government waste.

    • Actually Jay Dumb yes we were. But, like any little boy spouting your mouth off, you over look that sometimes big brother goes too far. So step aside and let the big boys point out where the EPA is messed up and fix it and direct them back to bigger issues like catastrophe situations and major health concerns and leave the hot dog roasting to the cook.

  9. $30,000??? That’s what you’re mad about? We have a defense budget of over $500 BILLION and you’re worried about two teeny tiny university studies??? Your faux outrage is laughable!

    • Or, the $30,000,could have been used for zfree Tuition for the illegal alien that lives next door to you, with their free housing – while you pay for your own kid’s tuition and pay for your own house.

Btw, the BILLIONS that Obama gave to The Muslim Brotherhood – under the guise of humanitarian aid when The Muslim Brotherhood is not a country but a known TERRORIST organization that was burning down Christian Churches, slaughtering Christians, terrorizing Christian to leave their homes – came out of the zdefense budget.

What about the BILLIONS in weaponry given to the rebels in LIBYA and Syria – who are now ISIS?

  10. Sidewalk Barbeques in New Orleans have already been affected by the Food Police = armed Federal agents from Michelle Obama’s Nutrition Program – closing down food and impromptu music events – under the Threat of Arrest.

They say it is for health reasons = food in open-air conditions.

But the illegal aliens w their Food Trucks all around town – are just fine.

    *
Treme – alongside of CONGO SQUARE – (across from The French Quarter) – is known worldwide for Sunday sidewalk barbeques and legendary musicians playing in the neighborhood where they LIVE – has been completely halted.

The attack on Culture exists – in New Orleans – for no other reason but an oppressive government – by our first half-black ARAB president.

  11. No more backyard barbeques,

But if illegal aliens start a wildfire as a distraction for Drug trafficking – into The USA.

No way does Jose get indicted – for burning down people’s houses and businesses.

  12. Look at countries that are under a dictatorship. Most if not all of them have plenty of natural resources and yet, most if not all of them have lousy economies where their people live in poverty, experience frequent electricity blackouts (if they have any electricity at all in their home) and are without clean water, etc, etc….which is why some people refer to those countries as being “third world sheetholes”.

  13. Srsly dude, are you too intellectually lazy to fact check your blog posts or do you just lie through your teeth as a daily habit?
