Desperate times call for desperate measures.
As violence escalates at the hands of Islamic State in Iraq, some recent recruits have decided life among the merry band of bloodthirsty barbarians is not for them.
The Jerusalem Post reports that men are using any means necessary to escape – even resorting to dressing in drag. “On Monday, the Iraqi army arrested 20 male Islamic State members dressed as women in the northern city of Baquba, according to spokesman Ghalib al-Jubouri.”
No word on what the Iraqi army intended to do with these captured men. I shudder to think actually..
“Underneath the robes and veils, the men put on makeup, wore dresses and some even wore women’s bras. Others chose not to shave their facial hair, though still applied eyeliner, eyeshadow and blush.”
Makes perfect sense to me. Even if you’re fleeing through the desert, you want to look pretty, right?
No doubt they took their inspiration from that classic film, ”The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.”
And failing that, they can escape to the U.S. military where performances in drag are encouraged – as at Okinawa’s Kadena Air Base where Stars and Stripe” target=”_blank”>openly gay service members took to the stage and performed as “drag queens” and “drag kings” in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender troops.
However, if they REALLY want to avoid capture, I suggest these brave men take a leaf out of Lady Gaga’s book and tailor some garments out of thinly sliced prosciutto. Then they’ll be literally untouchable.
