March Madness – and why I have a new favorite

I have to just say a few words about March Madness. There are already some upsets in conference tournaments — Auburn defeating LSU, North Carolina defeating Virginia, even Villanova almost went down. Many of us will be sitting on edge Sunday waiting to see if our favorite team makes it to the “Big Dance.”

As for me, well, neitherTennessee nor Kansas State will be playing further — just last year the Vols were 2 points from the Elite Eight. Since we received word this week of Aubrey’s acceptance to Southern Methodist University for her Masters studies in Molecular and Cellular Biology — I will be cheering on the Mustangs.

Who do I think may end up being the Cinderella team this year? Be on the lookout for Davidson. What you just have to love about NCAA Basketball tourney season is that equality of opportunity — not equality of outcomes — is the prevailing theme. Now, on the Women’s NCAA Tourney side, of course I will be cheering on the Tennessee Lady Vols!

  1. Congrats to Ms Aubrey West on her acceptance to SMU and congrats to her parents for raising such a fine young woman who will no doubt contribute to the success of our country and not be tearing it down. God bless the West family.
