Shocking racial bias in Missouri that Holder willfully ignores

Just because Eric Holder and the Department of Justice have been unable to file any charges against Officer Darren Wilson in connection with Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, Missouri, that doesn’t mean the DoJ won’t stop fanning the flames of police racism in the embattled city.

This week, the New York Times reports that according to analysis issued by the Justice Department, the Ferguson Police Department was routinely violating the constitutional rights of its black residents.

‘”Federal investigators conducted hundreds of interviews, reviewed 35,000 pages of police records and analyzed race data compiled for every police stop.”

“The report will most likely force Ferguson officials to either negotiate a settlement with the Justice Department or face being sued by it on charges of violating the Constitution.”

In particular, Holder is trying to turn the screws on the Ferguson police for racial bias during traffic stops.

Hat tip to Kevin Jackson of theblacksphere.net for digging through the statistics to find the truth.

The Missouri attorney general released a report comparing the racial make—up of those pulled over for traffic stops compared to the population in general and then generated a “disparity index,” with 1.0 being a perfect score. In that case, it would mean the percentage of black people (for example) pulled over for traffic stops would be equal to the percentage of black people in the total population.

According to the attorney general’s report, the disparity index for the black population in Ferguson is 1.37, because while 63 percent of the population is black, 86 percent of those pulled over for traffic stops are black.

Voila! Racial bias in Ferguson. Even though there was no evidence to suggest Darren Wilson unlawfully shot Michael Brown and even though the whole “hands up, don’t shoot” meme is now admitted by Holder to be bogus, there is clearly racial bias in Ferguson based on the traffic stop data. And by the way, Ferguson’s mayor is a white Republican. So Ferguson = bad.

Now just up the road, it’s a different story.

The towns of Berkeley and Pine Lawn each have black city councils and mayors.

In Berkeley, only 15 percent of the population is white, but whites make up 42 percent of the traffic stops for a disparity index of 2.69.

And in Pine Lawn, a mere 1.4 percent of the population is white, but whites make up 27.5 percent of the traffic stops for a whopping disparity index of 19.32.

Oddly, Eric Holder finds no particular reason to investigate the apparent “racial bias” in these communities.

Apparently when it comes to racial bias, only black lives matter.

  1. Allen…have you lived in Ferguson?? Have you even traveled to Ferguson? Why oh WHY are you so QUICK to defend the racist actions of WHITE PEOPLE allen? Such a DISGRACE!!!

    • Perhaps he thinks that people should really be treated equally instead of the special treatment perpetual victim-hood status you racists desire.

      • Those poor blacks, victimized and all, sorry, meant that whole victimized mentality “they” have. . .have. . . . have.

      • The report showed the were victimized by the white community. Sorry if you only rely on West for your info, but is a non confrontation black man who does nothing but blame blacks BEC West is embarrassed abt his race. That’s a great character flaw of black republicans.

      • Does this disappoint you?

      • No but I saw the protests on TV. Why donNt the people in this town protest to draw attention to their problem? Do white people think the media will come to them?

      • do you think the Ferguson cops started discriminating against black when Obama became president? This situation has been going on for years.

      • How long has whitey been discriminated against in the other towns? When Obama came in and hired racist Holder?

      • why is holder a racist? He did his job and exposed the truth. sorry if it embarrasses you, but the truth hurts.

      • I don’t know why he is a racist but he is.

He did his job? How about the other towns? Sorry if it embarrasses you and him, but the truth hurts.

      • Again, if other towns feel they have a problem, they should go to DOJ. Are they? You seem to have their crime stats. Anything else? Is West starting a protest like Ferguson, Stanford, Cleveland, NYC, San Fran?

      • Do YOU think all towns should be treated the same? And I got the stats from the article clown. You ignored them because it involved unequal treatment of whites. Anything else pimp? And you want West to start a riot?

      • is this what you are yapping about-

        http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2015/03/05/protesters-march-on-pine-lawn-muni-court/

yes, it happen yesterday. kind of hard to investigate something that just happened. The people of Ferguson have been complaining about bad treatment for years and no one did anything until the killing of Brown. I’m glad the people of Pine Lawn want to expose their town, but it doesn’t happen overnight. What are YOU or West doing to help?

      • Listen up you ignorant [email protected] Do you think these stats are not already known to the DOJ? They came up with the disparity index to begin with. So why cherry pick Ferguson when the DOJ has data from the other towns also? How do you think DOJ gets this data? States send it in to them annually. And I really don;t care if they do anything about the other towns. That doesn’t absolve Holder and DOJ of ignoring ANY other town irrespective of race. If the report is going to cite some stat based on whatever metrics they used then they need to take their ass to the other towns and do their jobs. Now what are YOU going to do about it? You got a mouthful of crap to say about Ferguson.

      • So why do you care about the blacks in Pine Lawn? Since when do you care about blacks at all? Now bec of the Ferguson investigation? Fake, phony, insincere, publicizing other’s misery. Let’s see how long YOUR interests is going to last. I’m thru, loser

      • [[ So why do you care about the blacks in Pine Lawn? ]]

Who said I did skank? Why are you okay with treating whites differently? That was and has been the question pig. Now go lick racist Holder’s knob you white guitling cow.

      • I should have asked where you got your “stats” on Pine Lawn bec I can’t find them. Please, show me. PLEASE.

      • Here ya go race pimp. Right from the article we’re posting about. How stupid are you white guilter?

And in Pine Lawn, a mere 1.4 percent of the population is white, but whites make up 27.5 percent of the traffic stops for a whopping disparity index of 19.32

      • There is no indication were those numbers came from.
Plus, it’s the blacks who have issue with the cops in Pine Lawn, not the whites. I sent you two different newscasts about the protest this week. All protesters are black.

      • Are you really this stupid? The state’s attorney general gave DOJ the stats as all other states do on disparity index data. Did you even read the article? And screw who’s pi$$ed. You treat ALL PEOPLE the SAME.

      • show me where you are getting your info. as for treating people equally, TELL THAT TO the Ferguson cops.

      • From the Mo. states attorney’s office via West’s article. Wake up and read it you racist cow………………..

      • So, why don’t you call the issue to the DOJ attention. If this sitution is so outrageous, what are you doing about it?

      • if the DOJ investigators are racist, they should be fired. But race pimps like you think otherwise.

      • A traffic stop while white is different than a traffic stopped while black dear. The blacks in Fergerson were harrassed and over charged. The cops had a charge for walking down the street . They made money from arresting blacks.
Sad you don’t know the issues but feel free to expression your ignorance.

      • Wrong race horr. If the racist investigators want to throw out stats to make their case, then they have to address the other towns cited. Or don’t whitey count pimp?

    • Unc, did you read the entire article? I can read from your comment with capitalization you are an angry person and might not have read past Ferguson to the comments of the other two towns. You are so used to people defending the other folks you can’t see past smoke there is actually disparity the other way. Why did Obama pay so much attention to black

      • I lived in Ferguson and that entire region for most of my LIFE. What goes on in those communities has been going on for DECADES…Eric Holder exposed what we already knew! GREAT JOB MR ATTORNEY GENERAL!

  2. “It is very disappointing that not a single Republican leader sees the value in participating in this 50th commemoration of the signing of the Voting Rights Act. I had hoped that some of the leadership would attend, but apparently none of them will,” said Congressional Black Caucus Chairman G.K. Butterfield. “The Republicans always talk about trying to change their brand and be more appealing to minority folks and be in touch with the interests of African-Americans. This is very disappointing.”

  3. Right now, the “disparity index” is quite high between Americans who approve and those who disapprove of obama’s job performance. One reason for this, is because obama’s administration have proven themselves to be shakedown artists and race baiters.

  4. Actually the Ferguerson police was right about something. One email said no black man can hold a job for more than 4 years. True, allen west only lasted 4 years.

  5. Stupid defense Ms Hickford.
My kids tries that same logic when they were little.
if I caught one son doing something bad, to try and deflect, he would tell me what bad things his brother was doing… as if somehow that made what he was doing okay.

They did not understand that two wrongs don’t make a right… but they were small children.

your defense of racial bias in Ferguson is to deflect by alleging that there may be racial bias somewhere else…. you are making excuses for the wrongdoing in Ferguson by suggesting that it’s okay because there may be wrong doing elsewhere.

Two wrongs don’t make a right Ms hickford.
Pointing out possible wrongdoing somewhere else doesn’t make the wrongdoing in Ferguson disappear.

You just hate this administration so blindly that you will criticize anything they do

    • The response was intended to show the ridiculousness of the method used to come to the conclusion of racial discrimination, not that two rights make a wrong. You could come up with lots of statistics that show members of different racial groups being adversely selected for lots of things, but the adverse selection has absolutely nothing to do with their race, just common sense. For instance, I’d bet you anything in the world that the IRS audits whites at rates grossly disproportionate to their composition of the population. So in the DOJ’s world, the IRS should make audit selections based on race instead of income. How absurd would that be?! I’d also be willing to bet anything in the world that traffic stops usually result from irresponsible driving – more likely with young males – or defective equipment – more likely on older cars owned by financially challenged people. But I’ll bet the DOJ didn’t dig any deeper into the traffic stop statistics or the demographic statistics to find information that would undermine their clearly pre-conceived conclusion that all police actions are racially motivated. When your worldview sees everything through the prism of your own racial animosity, then its natural that you automatically assume that everyone else is racist too.

  6. Ferguson judge who aggressively fined and jailed poor Black residents owes $170,000 in unpaid taxes

The judge in Ferguson, Missouri, who is accused of fixing traffic tickets for himself and colleagues while inflicting a punishing regime of fines and fees on the city’s residents, also owes more than $170,000 in unpaid taxes.

Ronald J Brockmeyer, whose court allegedly jailed impoverished defendants unable to pay fines of a few hundred dollars, has a string of outstanding debts to the US government dating back to 2007, according to tax filings obtained by the Guardian from authorities in Missouri.

Brockmeyer, 70, was this week singled out by Department of Justice investigators as being a driving force behind Ferguson’s strategy of using its municipal court to aggressively generate revenues. The policy has been blamed for a breakdown in relations between the city’s overwhelmingly white authorities and residents, two-thirds of whom are African American.
Investigators found Brockmeyer had boasted of creating a range of new court fees, “many of which are widely considered abusive and may be unlawful”. A city councilman opposing the judge’s reappointment was warned “switching judges would/could lead to loss of revenue”.

yea,,, feeling powerful sorry for all those poor white people..

    • What about Al Sharpton? Why does everyone go to jail, get fined and he eats at the White house?
The justice system needs to work but those old enough to remember the 60’s have to say we have come a long way. It may not be a bed of roses but look across the line at all people. Many are hurting today. Many blacks have really succeeded. So quit complaining so much about past deal with the present and prepare for the future for our kids and grandkids. Also get these young people off of the games and into books and learning to they can advance in wisdom and go to college. Tech schools vocational schools and not just sit anf complain about what happened to grandparents!

      • He is cut from the same cloth as Obama and Holder! Thugs clinging to one another, protecting one another’s backs!

  7. As we come to the 50th anniversary of the voting rights act. I wonder if Allen (Uncle Ruckus) West will pay tribute to those that came before him. Those that fought and died to give him the opportunity to get to where he is today. I doubt he will say ANYTHING!

  8. Admittedly Ferguson has had many troubles as Chicago, NYC, and certainly Oakland, But if we were to consider the many points leading to the destruction of a community and cause deeper divisions between neighbors who frequented the many shops, we might not be talking about the disaster.
But for a young man with a history of trouble stealing from a variety store and hitting the owner in the process that escalated to his death, the events following were fueled by people who had NO reason to leap to wrongful conclusions which led to riots by unsavory characters. And for the Sharpton, Jackson, Black Panther, Farrakhan brigades along with anarchists from far out of state, to come and head the violence, the Injustice Department, and Obama fanned the fames when they should have been arrested and forced to pay restitution. Meanwhile, the residents of Ferguson and surrounding counties must step forward re-organize the leaders and have elections representative of ALL, outside the static and without the Fed.

  9. Interesting that a few dysfunctional libs (I know, redundant) hang out here to routinely criticize the rare Conservative black man. Never mind that the dysfunction extends to criticism of the institutions and people (like Alan West) that defend the right of the dysfunctional to be critical. But such patriots knew that when they signed.
