ISIS psychopaths turn pillaged churches into torture chambers

Grave of prophet Jonah destroyed by ISIS

I pray all of you had a very Merry Christmas and enjoyed quality family time. We had a fantastic Christmas meal my dear friend Alma prepared — good thing I put in a 6-mile Christmas morning run.

Well, it’s back to basics and the reality of our world. And this is one we must never forget, since we just had the peace of remembering that “Unto us a child is born and He shall be called Immanuel, God is with us”. As we received the gift of God’s peace in Jesus Christ’s birth — and some pretty neat personal gifts — some Christians were reminded of another aspect of the faith: persecution.

As reported by Fox News, “The Islamic State is turning Christian churches in Iraq and Syria into dungeons and torture chambers after stripping them of priceless artifacts to sell on the black market, according to reports.”

“Ancient relics and even entire murals are being torn from the houses of worship and smuggled out through the same routes previously established for moving oil and weapons in and out of the so-called caliphate, a vast region the jihadist army has claimed as sovereign under Sharia law. “ISIS has a stated goal to wipe out Christianity,” Jay Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice and the author of “Rise of ISIS: A Threat We Can’t Ignore,” told FoxNews.com. “This why they are crucifying Christians — including children — destroying churches and selling artifacts. The fact is, this group will stop at nothing to raise funds for its terrorist mission.”

Reading this story on Christmas Day really brought things into perspective and further demonstrated the savage barbarism of this enemy. Who would have conceived this would be happening in the 21st century — in clear view for all of us to know?

I will just pose a question — what would be the global response if Christians or Jews were raiding mosques and specifically targeting Muslims for horrific torture and murder? The United Nations would most likely be first in condemnation. The Ummah — Muslim community — would be unequivocally demanding the guilty group be destroyed.

Yet, consider that this year, the Associated Press declared the story of the year to be “police shooting black men” – if you cannot get the most extensive global media outlet to recognize the ISIS threat…well, you get my point. And yes, I’ve read reports that Islamists have been in Ferguson, Missouri seeking to recruit members for ISIS. And no, I didn’t read that thanks to an AP report.

As Fox News writes, “It’s not clear what items have been stolen, but the terrorist group has sought to destroy religious groups that don’t embrace its twisted and violent interpretation of Islam, and has already blown up several revered Christian sites and monuments. Last July, ISIS militants used sledgehammers to destroy the tomb of Jonah in Mosul. Around the same time, they were destroying Sunni shrines and mosques in the northern province of Ninevah, including the Shia Saad bin Aqeel Husseiniya shrine in the city of Tal Afar and the al-Qubba Husseiniya, as well as Christian churches in Syria. The group follows a strict interpretation of the Sunni faith, which is against idolatry of anything other than God. ISIS has also threatened to destroy the holy sight of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.”

So with that being known, what precludes us all from damning ISIS to hell – after all, even Vice President Joe Biden of all people said so.

We recently wrote about the first ground engagement between ISIS and our US Special Operations forces — which for some odd reason wasn’t mentioned by the Commander-in-Chief during his final press conference of 2014.

Could it be our leaders just don’t want to recognize evil in our midst? And why wouldn’t they want to see this clear and present demonic behavior? Maybe they don’t see it that way?

Imagine if this were the late 1930s and globa social media would have allowed the world to see the atrocities — in almost real time — of Hitler’s Germany and Tojo’s Imperial Japan. What if the rape of Nanking could have been reported for the whole world to know? What if the horrific conditions of the Warsaw ghetto and the plight of European Jewry could have been reported daily?

Would the world have just watched and allowed these tragedies to just happen — and idly sit back and do nothing? I’m quite sure even though America possessed an isolationist, sentiment we would have stepped up — and not awaited Pearl Harbor. But then again, perhaps I could be wrong.

So here we are today, the day after Christmas, enjoying sales — and returning some gifts. Some folks will already forgotten that thing we call Christmas cheer.

But just remember this, “The Islamic militants have converted churches in Qaraqosh and other Iraqi cities into torture chambers, according to the Sunday Times. One priest from the region, who gave his name as Abu Aasi from Mosul, told the newspaper earlier this month that prisoners were being held in the Bahnam Wa Sara and Al Kiama churches. “These two churches are being used as prisons and for torture,” he said while in hiding. “Most inside are Christians and they are being forced to convert to Islam. Isis has been breaking all the crosses and statues of Mary.”

Maybe, just maybe, after reading this, cranky shoppers will complain just a little less. Sadly, this story isn’t dominating the news — I suppose it doesn’t fit the liberal progressive media’s narrative. You know, “black lives matter” — well, just the black lives that enable the progressive socialist anti-police and law enforcement message to be promulgated. Apparently, Christian lives don’t really matter.

All those black lives lost in Chicago to gang violence? They don’t matter. All those black lives lost to abortion? They don’t matter. And the genocidal murder of Christians — well, that certainly doesn’t matter. Where are all those human rights groups so concerned about GITMO unlawful enemy combatants?

Jay Sekulow sums it up nicely, “We know that ISIS considers several groups — including Christians — as ‘infidels without human rights,'” Sekulow said. “ISIS jihadists commit violence against fellow Muslims in violation of Islamic law. They routinely commit war crimes and engage in torture in violation of international law; and they also kill and threaten Christian, Jewish, and other religious communities.” “In short, ISIS is composed of religiously motivated psychopaths,” he said.”

I agree with Sekulow’s words — except the last — ISIS are just psychopaths, rabid mad dogs. And down South we know what to do with rabid dogs — you put them down!

  1. It is up to God to judge the member of ISIS. I do not think God would object if we started arranging a lot more meetings with ISIS members.

  2. This is a very good article, Col West. Thank you.

We will soon be rid of Barack Hussein Obama–and the sooner, the better. Then we will restore the White House to livability, clean up his messes–not easy, and return to being the most exceptional and greatest nation in the history of man.

Of all of Barack Hussein Obama´s stup1diities, his fanny kissing of the mad dog mohammedans is probably the worst, probably the most dangerous. If, instead of kissing their rear ends, he had intimidated them back into their flea infested, mud hut villages, we wouldn´t be having this problem. Bush didn´t do it, but Barack Hussein Obama actually encouraged their audacity. Audacity? Where have we heard that before?

  3. “ISIS are just psychopaths”

Well I’d agree they’re individually not religiously motivated psychopaths, they’re one or they other. Some of them are psychopaths that enjoy inflicting suffering on others, and the other members are religiously motivated dumb idiots.

When people join up to this group, they either do it because they want to join the slaughter for the sake of slaughter, or they really believe they are fighting in the name of sky daddy.

We’d probably all do terrible things, if the right circumstances presented themselves to us. Unfortunately, the ‘right circumstances’ for the religious among them, are them being told to fight for the cause of god, and them believing that this is what their god really wants, and he will be pleased with them.

This is the worst terrorist group we’ve had to contend with, and we (the uk and usa) are not doing nearly enough…the problem is we already went to Iraq for the wrong reasons, so now, lack of public appetite (and probably money) are making our leaders nervous about doing anything. It’s a lose lose situation, made worse when Obama insisted we won’t go back in on the ground – now he will feel he can’t change his mind whatever happens, or look like a liar. I like the guy, but he has cocked up on this, and as for Dave Cameron…well he’s never going to do more than drop a few food coupons for the victims.

What needs to happen, is to have some of the ISIS leaders rounded up, and questioned publicly on tv about how they can justify their actions. Even if they can use religion to somehow claim they’re fighting for god, they’d be harder pressed to justify doing things in the terrible way they’ve done, (well unless something in the koran does say that’s allowed).

  4. They are evil incarnate and have become Satan. When ever you misquote and turn scripture into a playbook you have become evil. Mohammed may have started out OK but he became a tool once he thought it was OK to annihilate his oppositions and force them into slavery.

  5. when will we stop allowing false words from Obama to foster a false sense of reality?

The man lies and whatever he lies about becomes the new reality.

When will we stop this criminal?

  6. Everyone remember, Obama is NOT stupid> he knows right well he is empowering Islam while weakening the United States.

    It is his intended Goal

  7. I’m glad Allen West put himself in a position where he can make a REAL CHANGE!! Wait…he’s not running for president…he went to a THINK TANK…..nevermind!
