Support for gun rights grows in black community, so why are black “leaders” anti-gun? [VIDEO]

The Second Amendment of our U.S. Constitution is seen as controversial for some. Take former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has invested millions of his personal wealth to defeat the simple right Americans have to keep and bear arms — a right that shall not be infringed.

There have been attempts to go after magazine size, tax bullets, and even create ammunition shortages. After the tragic shooting at Newtown, CT, the progressive socialist left resurrected the issue and it seemed they had a full blast of wind at their backs — or so it seemed.

According to the Washington Times, “Support for gun rights is higher than it’s been in decades, according to the latest data from the Pew Research Center that signals a stunning turnaround in how Americans feel about the issue just two years after the Newtown school shooting.

“Pew found that 52 percent of Americans say Second Amendment rights are more important than gun control — up 7 percentage points from just after the December 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that left 20 schoolchildren and six faculty dead. That’s the highest approval rating in two decades, and it’s being driven in part by changing attitudes among black Americans, who are increasingly likely to view guns as good for public safety.”

“Pew found 54 percent of blacks now say firearms protect people from being victims of crimes, compared to 41 percent who say they are a public safety risk. Just two years ago, only 29 percent of blacks said guns were a public safety boon.

“Over the past two years, blacks’ views on this measure have changed dramatically,” Pew researchers said.”

You know I have pondered, how many of these “protestors” out shouting “Hands up, don’t shoot,” “I can’t breathe,” and “black lives matter” actually reside in an urban black community rampant with crime and violence?

How many remember that it was a black man, a senior, who challenged the Chicago gun ban because he feared for his safety? And recently, I believe it was in Newark, NJ that residents asked for more police coverage in their neighborhood. It’s becoming obvious to some that you can’t carry a police officer. Personal protection is indeed a personal responsibility.

Perhaps gun rights is yet another issue where conservatives can find kindred unity in the black community – along with better education choices, entrepreneurial economic opportunity, restoration of the black family, and self-reliance.Without a doubt the progressive socialist left has repeatedly taken policy stances in contrast to those aforementioned positions — and truly to the detriment of those who live in the black community.

You might have heard of gun enthusiast, Mr. Colion Noir, now an official spokesman for the NRA. He puts it pretty succinctly here.

However, I do not expect the far left to raise the white flag of surrender.

According to the Times report, “President Obama called for major new restrictions on gun rights in the wake of the shooting, asking Congress to enact a bill to subject more gun purchases to background checks and to ban high-capacity ammunition magazines and military-style rifles. But gun rights supporters rallied, blocking those efforts in the Senate and leaving the matter stalled. Some states acted in lieu of federal action — and in Colorado it costs some State Senators their seats — but Democrats on Capitol Hill said Wednesday they remain committed to imposing new restrictions. “It is imperative that we act,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said at an event to commemorate the Newtown shooting. “We must stick with this.”

“Ladd Everitt, a spokesman for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, said Pew’s findings reflect a sharp partisan divide on the issue, but also said the wording of the survey might have influenced the results. The survey asked whether it was more important to “control gun ownership” or “protect the right of Americans to own guns.” “The notion of having ‘rights’ is certainly going to be more appealing than the notion of being ‘controlled,’ no matter what topic you are asking respondents about,” he said in an email. “We’d be curious to see how the polling would look if Pew Research asked respondents if they believed they had ‘a right to be free from gun violence in their communities through the enactment of sensible gun legislation.’”

Well, Ladd, my lad, let me clarify something for you. Taking away the individual right to own a gun does not result in a “right to be free from gun violence” — that is an absurd policy statement. It relies on the benevolence of others, i.e. criminals, to respect the established “gun free zone” when we know the exact opposite occurs. This flawed logic by the progressive left that controlling our Second Amendment rights will lead to less gun violence instead leads to making the American people subjects, not citizens.

When posed a choice between supporting gun rights or gun controls, men and women, old and young, white and black and Republican and Democrat all saw their preference for Second Amendment rights increase over the last two years.

Here is a simple quote that expresses the intent and meaning of the Second Amendment:

“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them” It was written by George Mason Co-author of the Second Amendment during Virginia’s Convention to Ratify the Constitution in 1788.

Is that the real objective of people like Ladd Everitt? There is astonishing hypocrisy when Michael Bloomberg, Barack Obama, and Nancy Pelosi, who are surrounded by armed security, believe they should determine how Americans protect themselves. But then again, that is the essence of progressive socialism. They know better for you than you do.

The fight for the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms presses on and at no time should we, the people let down our guard. I am honored to welcome more members of the black community to this ideological battle.

“The government” didn’t do the things he lists, Democrats did those things, and still do it. Republicans fought for their rights and as a whole they will get no where until they stop voting for the very people who did to them and continue to make them false victims and segregating them instead of requiring them to join the rest of America.

How can I tell if a black person with a gun is law abiding or a criminal? Isn’t must black on black crime committed with guns? Can a black person take his gun outside the ghetto?

Steve Harmon

Because he isn’t trying to rob you, idiot. Where is your sheet? Law abiding Americans are welcome regardless of their melanin content. What do you consider a white man, carrying a gun, coming at you? Stupid statement.

Not trying NOW.

Good, now you know the difference. White or black, makes no difference, if they are trying to rob you with a gun, they are the criminal. Glad to help, no charge for common sense. Merry Christmas.

More people like Mr. West: hopefully, are actually educating the population. To just add more gun laws, that would not have prevented Sandy Hook, and have never shown to limit criminal activity/deaths from use of guns… is stupid and wrong, especially since all laws have consequences. And the idea that, it’s those individuals who have the benefit of safe communities or gated/guarded homes with ARMED individuals at their side???? Well, it speaks volumes against the idea that they wish to make certain EVERY citizen shouldn’t enjoy that same thing/safety and security? Criminals commit crimes. A law abiding citizen, can purchase… Read more »

Mr. Colion Noir, Sir I would like to meet you and shake your hand, Your post is very well thought out and intelligent, It’s so refreshing to read a good clean article that shows both Common sense and Logic, I enjoyed it immensely, and I agree totally. But until people realize that the police aren’t there to protect them from anything, they are there to investigate a crime after the perpetrators have left the scene, They don’t spend much time looking either, they have to get to the next crime

When you take away the right to keep and bear arms, which right will you take away next? Free Speech? Religion? Which one? Because the right supports all of the rest, not the other way. I will not give up any right! I refuse to live in a place where they take away my rights! And if you don’t like it and want to live there go ahead. Enjoy! But, when they come to take you to the camps, don’t come looking for me! For all you will have to do is listen and when the noise ends it means… Read more »

Say, “It’s a 2016 Guns America!” and view the gun page, and give support to the 2016 Dream Candidate. There is time yet to make the right way happen.

The Bill of Rights is being trampled by this government, it has been for years. Once they can get rid of that pesky 2nd Amendment, the rest will fall like dominos, and that’s exactly what they want. This is a free country ONLY BECAUSE OF THE 2ND AMENDMENT. Never surrender your guns, your right to self defense by any means necessary. Carry a gun with you every single day, legal or otherwise. No one is there to protect you except yourself. Cops are reactionary, not precautionary. They come in after the fact to draw the chalk line and take statements,… Read more »
