There is no “moral equivalency” in the Jerusalem synagogue attacks

Peace in the Middle East will come when the two parties involved both seek peace — not when one must constantly defend itself against terrorist attacks. Since the original two-state solution was first floated in the 1930’s, one side has never found it acceptable and has embarked upon decades of violent aggression and terrorism in order to advocate its case. In the meantime, he other side has created a prosperous multicultural democracy and is the target of constant assaults against its innocent citizens – including, as we recently reported, the killing of a three-month-old child.

Of course Israel, the recognized nation-state, is not only targeted by kinetic attacks, it must also survive propaganda attacks as it is demonized for defending its existence. I once again ask, how do you establish a cease-fire with a terrorist group whose raison d’être is the destruction of said state?

And so the insanity continues between those referring to themselves as “Palestinians” – you can read the history of the term here — and the State of Israel.

As reported by USA Today, “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to “respond harshly” after five people — three of them U.S.-born rabbis — were killed in a synagogue Tuesday by two Palestinians wielding meat cleavers, an ax and a gun. The incident was the latest violent event in the tense city where relations between Arabs and Jews have been deteriorating for weeks over a contested shrine holy to both Jews and Muslims. Netanyahu immediately ordered the demolition of the attackers’ homes, as well as homes of Palestinians who carried out several recent attacks.”

Of course the focal point for some media will be the ensuing consequences and punishment levied by Prime Minister Netanyahu — but he understands there must be consequences to the actions of terrorists.

It will be interesting to see how much we discuss the celebrations of this heinous attack, which occurred in Hamas-controlled Gaza.

As this cartoon shows from a Hamas-affiliated social media page, terrorists are wielding knives and axes while the victims lie bleeding on the floor. One of the terrorists holds a bloody ax and a knife asking “Where are they?”—to indicate that he is seeking more victims.

Why is it that the media, and the world, never condemn groups like Hamas that use its own people as human shields – as we reported here. And our own foreign policy is so insidiously misconceived that we essentially reward Islamic terrorism by giving millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars for “infrastructure rebuilding” — as we have to Hamas in Gaza.

We just endured the beheading of a former U.S Army Ranger at the hands of ISIS — now this.

USA Today says, “Four of the dead were rabbis and one was a police officer who died of his wounds hours after the attack. Three of the rabbis were born in the United States, and the fourth was born in England, although all held dual Israeli citizenship. The U.S.-born victims were identified as Moshe Twersky, 59, Aryeh Kupinsky, 43, and Kalman Levine, 55. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said the British man was Avraham Goldberg, 68, who immigrated to Israel in 1993. Twersky, the grandson of a renowned rabbi from Boston, Joseph Soloveitchik, was the head of Yeshivas Toras Moshe, a religious seminary for English-speaking students. His father, Isadore Twersky, founded the Center for Jewish Studies at Harvard.”

Some profess ISIS is not a greater threat beyond the region — I say that is far from the truth. ISIS is inspiring these singular jihadists to engage in attacks globally — be it England, Australia, Canada, the U.S. or Israel. Two NYPD rookie officers are attacked by an ax-wielding jihadists — no different from these two in Jerusalem. And yes, in both cases the assailants were killed but that is part of the jihadist scheme.

USA Today reports “The attack took place in the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Har Nof, which has a large population of English-speaking immigrants. Police identified the attackers as Ghassan and Oday Abu Jamal, cousins from East Jerusalem. President Obama responded that the incident makes it “all the more important for Israeli and Palestinian leaders and ordinary citizens to work cooperatively together to lower tensions, reject violence and seek a path forward towards peace.”

The real policy issue should be the wholehearted denouncement and eradication of Islamic terrorism. As long as it exists, and there is no unified recognition of Israel’s right to exist, there will never be a “path to peace.” As long as we have organizations such as the United Nations, which finds it easier to condemn Israel and makes inane statements such as “Israel should share its Iron Dome system with Gaza [Hamas],” the chances for peace to take root are slim to none.

Furthermore, the longer ISIS exists, the more it will continue to inspire this wave of jihadist actions. And ISIS will continue to leverage social media to promote more of these types of attacks to advance the specter of fear and intimidation that is the essence of terrorism.

USA Today says “Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attack, the first time he has done so since a recent spike in deadly violence against Israelis began. He called for an end to Israeli “provocations” surrounding the sacred site known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary. Abbas said it was wrong for either side to kill civilians. However, Sami Abu Zuhri, a spokesman for Hamas (with whom Abbas’ Fatah, the Palestinian Authority has entered into a reconciliation pact ) wrote in a post on Facebook that the incident in Jerusalem was a reaction to Israeli “crimes” and called for further attacks and bloodshed.”

So the feigned “condemnation” by Abbas means very little when in the same breath he blames the victim, Israel, for “provocations,” basically providing a justification to the actions of his own people. And let’s be honest, Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, the City of David, and no Islamic conquest or folklore can change that fact. Heck, for that matter, perhaps the Italians can lay claim since it was Roman Emperor Hadrian who renamed the city Aeolia Capitolina.

Regardless, one side wants no peace — they only want extermination. One side wants to survive, a promise the world made as well, but seems to have reneged upon. The sands of time are running out and there is a severe storm brewing.

I stand steadfast with Israel and so should America’s policies in the Middle East — and any nuclear negotiations with Iran by the United States shows that not to be the case with this current administration.

I send my condolences to the families of the three American rabbis who lost their lives all because we continue to acquiesce to Islamic terrorism.

  2. Asking for calm in the face of this is clearly an insult, and is meant to be one to boot. Stay calm as you and yours are being slaughtered? Is he asking the protesters at Ferguson to stay calm or stay the course, whatever that means?

    • How nice of you to play the offended muslim LOL

Why would he? This blog belongs to Col West. It is his choice to include or exclude anything as he decides on what he sees worthy to his own writing.

      • Ok little mohammedan boy filled with Jew hatred.

You can’t argue anything – your inherent antisemitism comes across loud and clear.

      • How is that different from what you said to me. You’re a racist and bigot. all one has to do is read your posts. I’ve dealt with ppl Luke you all my life.

      • Since you asked:
        I didn’t call you a racist or a bigot. That’s how it’s different.
I am not a racist because I refuse to appease you or islam.

I am not a bigot because I don’t respect your beliefs and in fact don’t even find your beliefs valid.

I’m not a racist or a bigot because I really don’t give a crap if you are offended. And just so we are clear here, I truly seriously don’t give a crap if you are offended about anything that I say. It’s called free speech.

I’m not a racist or a bigot because I refuse to believe in the monstrous lies of mohammad. None of these things makes me a racist or a bigot.

You’re a first class islamic dickhead, all one has to do is read your posts to see this. I’ve dealt with people like you my whole life too 🙂

      • “I am not a bigot because I don’t respect your beliefs and in fact don’t even find your beliefs valid.”
That is pretty much the definition of bigotry though…

      • No that isn’t what a bigot is. I have the right to respect or not anything I want. I have the right to find something valid or not as I see fit. If it offends someone they can go hell.

Anyone who says anything critical of islam is now a bigot?

What happened to free speech Paul? Why do I have to accept islam if I don’t? Why do I have to respect islam when I don’t? Tell me why?

Why do I get called a bigot when I am an American and can say what I want to say when I want to say it?

A bigot is one who is completely intolerant of others. I tolerate islam everyday of my life.

It doesn’t make me a bigot because I call some idiot muslim out when West didn’t include something about a mosque being bombed in HIS blog and the idiot muslim wants to cry about it LOL!

Once someone calls me a bigot or a racist LOL I know I just won any debate, argument or dispute with them. Once you have to fall back on that you literally cannot defend your jacked up position in any other way except to call me a racist or a bigot – you lose.

Yes, throw down the bigot/racist card Boo F-ING HOO LOL! Where is this all leading to Paul? Freedom of Speech trumps anyone’s right to be offended.

      • Two things:
        1) You’ve got a point, respect vs. tolerance. Conceded.
        2) Free speech has nothing to do with it. Bigots have free speech, it doesn’t mean they’re not bigots though.

      • Right. I can tolerate you but I don’t have to respect you and I don’t have to keep my opinions of you to myself because you may be offended. Screw that.

Free speech has everything to do with it and trying to shut down criticism of islam by calling someone a bigot IS a serious infringement of free speech and leads to a whole lot of bad things. That’s why people have to speak up and speak out about it. That’s also why islam gets even more criticism – because it is they who are bigots and are intolerant to the point of killing people over it. Now that’s what I call a bigot.

Don’t forget Dutch film maker Theo van Gogh. He was the great-grandson of Theo van Gogh, the brother of the world-famous painter Vincent van Gogh. Kind of startling that Theo van Gogh would be murdered for his art. He made a movie about islamic culture and was stabbed to death for it in 04. Murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri that said he was defending the name of allah. He actually shot him and then slashed his throat right in the street. So Paul IMHO it has everything to do with free speech.

      • No, the only infringement of your freedom of speech is if the government tries to shut you up. Other people are free to use their speech to call you whatever names they like. They’re even free to tell you to shut up because you’re a despicable racist (not that I’m saying that, just to be clear) and you are free to tell them to go f*** themselves. That’s how free speech works, it’s a double edged sword.
However, If they try to use violence or the threat of violence to stop you from speaking then that is a crime in most every country you’d even want to visit. Not so much because they’re violating your right to free speech but because it’s a crime to kill people or threaten to kill them for pretty much any reason.

      • Ok. Here’s some free speech for ya Paul. 38/40 feeling pretty good about that. Would have be 40/40 if it wasn’t so damn cold, my hand were freezing up. All the men here hate it when I out shoot them LOL. . . . .

Copy that. I like double edged swords 🙂 Gotta be careful not to slice yourself though. . .

Anywho look Paul Sheridan you at ease that two step 😉
I’m talking islam. I’m talking islam organizations that are busy trying to take away free speech. Already did in UK and elsewheres EU. It starts with people, it becomes groups, then organizations, then ends up with the now officially recognized terrorist club called CAIR pushing us around and making our own POTUS too afraid to even say the words “islamic terrorist.”

Bottom line up front – this whole conversation started with an ignorant mohammedean (free speech) whimpering because West didn’t include details about some mosque being bombed. Now note: instead of saying how horrible the synagogue slaughter was, he complains for the “Palestinians.” West also didn’t talk about the 60 +/- terrorist attacks all over Jerusalem either. For pete’s sake, the blog belongs to West and maybe he just plain don’t want to write 35 pages in one article LOL!

So that’s where it started. Me telling “it” that its West’s blog and he’ll include whatever the hell he wants to include – deal with it or go make your own blog and talk about the mosque bombing idiot.

But not just that – if you want to bitch, get out in front. YOU cry about it in your comment. Stupid coward POS filthy pig mohammedean (free speech:) – got something to bitch about then bring it or STFup.

Ended up a few posts later him just calling me a racist and a bigot LOL.

Stupid to call me a racist anyway. First off because what the hell does race have to do with islam, we all know islam is very “race tolerant” LMAO. And besides that, just for your notes, I will lay down some hate on anybody, don’t give a crap what color, race, religion, sex, origin, or any other nomenclature you define yourself as of or. If I see something wrong with you or what you are about, I don’t discriminate LOL.

Now as to your last paragraph, um no not really. But maybe to your “almost every country you would want to “visit” making me laugh again Paul 🙂 Islamic countries kill people by the hundreds, imprison them, destroy them, in other words islam is the opposite of free speech. That’s what I’m talking about basically.

        Again: MOLON LABE M-FCKERS 🙂

      • Why would he make an attempt to present more information rather than less? Even if more information weakens his position? I dunno, intellectual honesty maybe? Of course, information and intellectual honesty isn’t really Allen’s strong suit.

      • Topic was the lack of moral equivalency. So if there’s a comparison to be made then it should be discussed.

      • The entire article was prompted by the synagogue attack.

The topic better put of course as you said is that there is NO moral equivalency between Israel and terrorist run “Palestine.” Israelis condemn the violence and Palestinians celebrate in the streets.

Guess we just discussed it LOL 🙂

      • Well Paul, no I was not talking about last summer’s bomb fest regarding your first link. Honestly I would have been up on a hilltop watching too had I been there. But you already know I like all that big boom kinda stuff, would have found it very interesting to watch. But what do you expect, Gaza had been hurling thousands of bombs AT Israel by Jul/Aug. and ignoring ceasefires and so on.

I like that: me trying to project my opinions on cardboard cutout people LOL – you did it again, made me laugh 🙂

But anyway, my comment was to the recent violence at the synagogue. Palestinians were passing out candy and celebrating.

So yes PA did put out a condemnation – he is well known for speaking from both ends. Hamas just came on out and said there would be more to come.

Israel wants peace. Palestine wants Israel dead. It’s really that simple. I’m sure that’s going to annoy you that I put such a simplistic concept about the whole thing, but that’s all you really need to understand about the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

      • But… there are examples.
        Which I just showed you.
That prove that it’s not that simple.
You just don’t want it to be complicated. There are Palestinians who want a peaceful 2 state solution and Israelis who think any compromise is literally a crime against their God. The Jewish Home party, which holds 10% of seats in the Knesset opposes the existence of a Palestinian state under any circumstances.

  3. There is also a complex reason why Obama can’t truly condemn the Palestinians…one that is rooted in other issues that ultimately go back to undermining Russia in the Middle East: Obama needs Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar on board as allies to eliminate Bashar Hafez al-Assad from Syria (the Kurds are needed to eliminate the Islamic State from Iraq for separate but related reasons). To maintain that alliance, however, Obama has to acquiesce to Turkey on the Palestinian issue in order to gain access to Turkish bases to go after Assad in Syria. Until that is done, Obama can’t really criticize Palestine, because he’d lose Turkey as an ally and that alliance would collapse, giving Russia the victory in the area and staving off a recession for Russia. There is always more to the story than meets the eye, and nothing is ever simple. In a vacuum, it would be an easy decision to condemn Palestine…but the world is not a vacuum, and Obama has to do things that he would not do if not for the need to undermine Russia.

      • Two-fold:

        1. It would look too obvious to the rebels and Russia that America’s hands are on the Bashar Hafez al-Assad deposition attempt.
        2. Israel has a nascent working relationship with Russia and there is no way in hell that you can please both DC and Moscow.

The USA needs to get Assad out but not have it look as though America did it. This requires being covert and making strange bedfellows—and such ends up showing most clearly in circumstances like these, where the President is compromised vis a vis Palestine.
