Dereliction of duty: Obama skipped nearly 60 percent of intelligence briefings

It’s called dereliction of duty when one knowingly dismisses the faithful execution of his or her prescribed duties in fulfilling their responsibility. I said so Monday evening with Greta von Susteren, and will continue to do so.

And if anything represents “high crimes and misdemeanors” it’s the dereliction of duty that has resulted in the deaths of Americans — by beheadings. Furthermore, it is a dereliction of duty that has placed the national security of the United States of America at risk.

As reported by Breitbart.com, “A new Government Accountability Institute (GAI)report reveals that President Barack Obama has attended only 42.1 percent of his daily intelligence briefings (known officially as the Presidential Daily Brief, or PDB) in the 2,079 days of his presidency through September 29, 2014. The GAI report also included a breakdown of Obama’s PDB attendance record between terms; he attended 42.4 percent of his PDBs in his first term and 41.3 percent in his second.”

This isn’t some right-wing conspiracy, this is a report that can be cross-verified. What would shareholders or a Board of Directors do to a CEO who had attended 42.1 percent of the company economic outlook briefings and while the company’s stock was plummeting? Yep, I believe the shareholders would demand the firing of the CEO.

So what are we waiting for here America? Obama only asks for his PDB to be left on his desk and there are hardly ever any follow up inquiries. “It’s pretty well-known that the president hasn’t taken in-person intelligence briefings with any regularity since the early days of 2009,” an Obama national security staffer told the Daily Mail on Monday. “He gets them in writing.”

Hmm, I wonder how many of those 2,079 days Obama played golf? Mind you, I’ve never held a golf club and don’t chide the man for his golf game — but, if there’s a higher likelihood of Obama playing golf than taking his intel briefs, I do have a problem — as well you should.

As ABC News reported, the White House has not previously directly disputed the GAI’s numbers but instead said Obama prefers to read his PDB on his iPad instead of receiving the all-important live, in-person briefings.

And if you want to know about dumb freakin’ luck get this. Breitbart says, “the GAI’s alarming findings come on the heels of Obama’s 60 Minutes comments on Sunday, wherein the president laid the blame for the Islamic State’s (ISIS) rapid rise squarely at the feet of his Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. “I think our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that I think they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria,” said Obama. According to Daily Beast reporter Eli Lake, members of the Defense establishment were “flabbergasted” by Obama’s attempt to shift blame.”

“Either the president doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s [email protected],” a former senior Pentagon official “who worked closely on the threat posed by Sunni jihadists in Syria and Iraq” told the Daily Beast.

Folks, this is the clear and present definition of dereliction of duty. How much are the American people asking? Just for Obama to do his job and take a briefing and show some interest. I can bet Obama never missed an election poll result update by David Axelrod. I wonder how many Democrat fundraisers Obama missed in the past six years? I guess we know where his priorities lie, all to the detriment of the American people.

I’ll be the one who asks — and don’t care about the hysteria it creates — if Obama had taken his briefs, or even read them (I believe Valerie Jarrett is coaching him on the fine art of plausible deniability) — and full understood the threat of ISIS, would James Wright Foley and Steven Sotloff still be alive? We already reported here that Obama delayed for 30 days the special operations rescue mission to recover Wright and Sotloff — again, politics trumping practicality, and American security.

And just so you know, there have been previous investigations into Obama’s intel briefing attendance.

As Breitbart reports, “this is not the first time questions have been raised about Obama’s lack of engagement and interest in receiving in-person daily intelligence briefings. On September 10, 2012, the GAI released a similar report showing that Obama had attended less than half (43.8%) of his daily intelligence briefings up to that point. When Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen mentioned the GAI’s findings in his column, then-White House Press Secretary Jay Carney dubbed the findings “hilarious.” The very next day, U.S. Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens and three American staff members were murdered [I am writing “abandoned”] in Benghazi. As Breitbart News reported at the time, the White House’s very own presidential calendar revealed Obama had not received his daily intel briefing in the five consecutive days leading up to the Benghazi attacks.”

This is why I refer to Obama skipping out on his PDBs as dereliction of duty and representative of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” So I ask American shareholders — should we fire this CEO? Politics is more important to Obama than the security of the American people. That to me is highly disturbing.

We’ve wanted to fire this POS CEO for 5+ years, but nobody will take the bull by the horns and make it happen. My theory is that he skips those briefings to avoid interaction and eye contact. He would be required to listen to others and I doubt he has patience for much of that, being he sees himself superior in intellect and all. This way he also avoids hearing the importance or urgency in their voices. Add National Intelligence to the list of departments that detest him even more than before. I read in the same Breitbart post that… Read more »

You’re calling for the lynching of the first African-American president, and you wonder why people think the radical right is filled with racist? Really?

To make matters worse, people are upvoting your call for the President to be assassinated.

Talk about your chuckleheads!

I don’t agree with calling for lynching, however it’s rather racist of you to call it racist. GWB was hung and burned in effigy many times. No one batted an eye that now calls it racist to do the same to this president. Either it’s racist or it isn’t and either it’s okay to make hyperbolic statements about the president or it isnt. His race shouldn’t matter any more than it should have mattered for GWB.

I didn’t call anyone a racist. I asked if Mr. Strangfruit understood why calling for the first black president to be lynched could be perceived as racist. Given that racism is the belief that one race is superior to another, asking such a question does not in any way suggest an endorsement that one race is superior to another. Stop using words you don’t understand. Further, arguing like a child using “I know you are, but what am I,” is a poor substitute for adult conversation. Burning a president in effigy is different than calling for the lynching of a… Read more »

Fakeconserv. You can try and pretend thats not what you were doing, but its clear in your statement that you are calling some racist. The fact that you associated hanging with racism solely because Obama is black IS RACISM. And so is your “white christian” hatred, which is also racist and big oted.. But hey, thats nothing new to you. Also, trying to pretend liberals/ultra left havent made the same exact calls for Bushs and a lot of other conservatives heads AND WORSE is complete BS too. Again, its either ok or it isnt. Further the SS isnt going to… Read more »

“The fact that you associated hanging with racism solely because Obama is black IS RACISM. ” This little line is worth special examination. Setting aside the demonstratively poor understanding of the word “racism” and the infantile “I know you are, but what am I” defense, it worth examining why lynching has special meaning when applied to black Americans. For more than a century White Christian terrorists have used lynching as a way of keeping uppity blacks in “their place.” More than 4000 Americans dies from lynching, some 3200 of those Americans were black. Lynching was the beheading of its time,… Read more »

Here’s the dictionary definition of racism: “the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” Asking someone of they understand why calling for an act that was used to install fear in the hearts of black people across the country for more than a century would cause the evoker to be considered racist does not suggest in any way that one race is superior to another. Nor is there any suggestion of one race being superior to another… Read more »

I think “cooler heads need to prevail” I don’t agree with lynching, for any president, nor an impeachment, let him finish his god awful job, and be done with him. The America can recover, with a new hope and glory, when we elect a real patriot , a real man, to bring this country back to its GLORY! Do not let yourselves fall into the liberals plan of labeling us all as racists, do not make the first “black” president a victim ….

Another nearly illiterate post from Mr. West. “It’s called dereliction of duty when one knowingly dismisses the faithful execution of his or her prescribed duties in fulfilling their responsibility.” Prescribed: state authoritatively or as a rule that (an action or procedure) should be carried out Where is it prescribed that the President must receive the PDB in person? If you want to use big boy words, you need to be able to back them up. “, if there’s a higher likelihood of Obama playing golf than taking his intel briefs, I do have a problem — as well you should.”… Read more »

Clinton got impeached for a bj Obama has violated his oath of office many times

TruConserv

Clinton lied about it, under oath. That’s called perjury and that’s a high crime. What specific crime has Obama committed? I’m not arguing Obama’s been a good president; rather, its that we (conservatives) sound like retards when we whine about how Obama needs to be sued or needs to be impeached and then can’t state a legitimate reason why. Look at Boenhner’s lawsuit – He made all these claims about how Obama was the most lawless president ever and how he was going to sue to prove it … the long awaited lawsuit was that Obama didn’t implement a law… Read more »

As ever, Mr. West, you ignore facts for rhetoric: he does not need to receive the PDB’s in person: he has national security staff with him constantly. They discuss the PDB’s wherever he is. Rhetoric.

Joemall

While you may be correct , we have to assume that Obama discusses issues with the staff in a timely manner. The fact is that this President has shown no interest in issues that don’t immediately effect him. If he kept up with the briefings, he might know enough to anticipate an event. He has shown that he is always behind the event and being caught off guard. More attention to the briefings and he may not be caught flat-footed as has been his constant m.o.

James

Your comment presupposes that the PDB’s warned of events that he ignored. Without knowing what they said, one cannot judge and say he had the information and failed to act. You reach conclusions unsupported by any facts.

Sorry to disagree. He has reasons for missing his briefings. He’s a
“well” educated man, (with “well” being the qualifier) for what he intends to do during his presidency. He’s told the nation in plain English what he intends to do so why do people question his actions so much. In the grand scheme of things, he is “fundamentally changing America”, and in that sense he is not only “well” educated but he is focused too. Every action of his has its intent.

Bill nix

How do you know he is well educated When you cannot get a full background check or see his college transcripts?

TruConserv

His degrees have been confirmed at Columbia and Harvard. He was on the Harvard Law Review. He’s well educated, which just proves that education isn’t everything.

Mr.Obama is clueless because is a MusLim sympathizer. His idea of attacking Muslim terrorist is giving Syria rebels 500 million of American arms and ammo. Where the hell is Congress ?????

Darkthunder

Only part I agree with, is “Where the hell is Congress ???”

Answer; On vacation, while campaigning to get re-elected in November. Instead of doing their actual jobs, and governing.

I believe to this day he is a Muslim, no one would give Islam such a free pass to these radicals, he was put in office to bring down America and his background hidden, progressive socialist is what he is, he cares nothing about the poor in the u.s . Black, white or whatever color, he needs to be impeached and imprisoned for crimes too many to list, he has violated his oath of office

Matt

It’s rediculous to suggest that he should be impeached when anyone can see that he’s already been significantly impared.

Darkthunder

Dereliction of duty applies to the men and women in the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate as well. And quite a few of them have KNOWINGLY neglected participating in various intelligence briefings, including several noted republicans such as John McCain (who went on television demanding intelligence answers, WHILE the ingelligence briefing was ongoing, that he was currently absent from).

Come on, give the guy a break. With all those fund raisers in the evenings, the late night follow up fun raisers, and the challenges he faces almost daily on the golf course, he must be exhausted. He’s gotta rest sometime, and those silly little intelligence briefings are early in the morning. When do you expect him to sleep? For goodness sake, he’s not God. (Don’t tell him that.) Besides, he can always check the ISIS Facebook page anytime for important updates. One more thing — it’s wrong and offensive to suggest that he missed nearly 60% of his briefings.… Read more »
