Socialist pickpocket Bernie Sanders after your wallet

When it comes to progressive socialists, some things never change. They love taking other people’s money under the guise of legal plunder, just as French economist Frederic Bastiat proposed. Socialists tend to believe that all the ills of the world center around those who have worked hard and earned wealth. However, I always wonder when they spew the rhetoric of “taxing the rich,” are they including those folks in the political, entertainment, and media elite who are their friends and supporters? Let’s be honest. Are they talking about confiscating the ‘wealth” of Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Matt Lauer, Michael Moore, Bill Maher, Warren Buffett — or just their political opposition?

As the Democrat Senate desperation builds, we see the same old tired message from the ultimate pickpockets. As reported buy the Washington Times, “Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described socialist, called for a progressive estate tax on multi-millionaires and billionaires during a speech on Saturday. “A nation will not survive morally or economically when so few have so much while so many have so little,” Mr. Sanders said at the Vermont AFL-CIO annual convention. “We need a tax system which asks the billionaire class to pay its fair share of taxes and which reduces the obscene degree of wealth inequality in America,” said Mr. Sanders, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats.”

No, Senator Sanders, we don’t need a tax system that enables progressives to decide how to transfer wealth in America. We need a tax system that promotes growth, opportunity, and prosperity for Americans — all Americans. Anytime we hear Democrats rant about more and higher taxes, it means more for them to spend. As Sanders stated, “taxing the top .25 percent of wealthiest Americans is the fairest way to reduce wealth inequality, lower the $17 trillion national debt and pay for investments in infrastructure, education, and other neglected national priorities.”

Silly me, I thought the almost trillion dollars of stimulus passed in Obama’s first year was supposed to do all of that. So, Senator Sanders, where is all that taxpayer money?

I have an idea Bernie, stop spending money you don’t have. I understand, you need to tax folks more in order for you to continue to spend. Reminder to all: America’s national debt, when Obama brought Chicago to the White House, was $10.67 trillion. Our national debt is now at $17.5 trillion. Additionally, the wealth gap in America has exploded under the direction of Obamanomics. Obviously we don’t need a more “progressive tax” system, in the mold of Marx and Engels’ Ten Planks from the Communist Manifesto.

If you have a few minutes, check out ol’ Bernie with Rep. Michele Bachmann on CNN debating the justification and further legalization of government plunder.

As the Washington Times reports, “former U.S. Department of Labor Secretary, Robert B. Reich, another renowned progressive socialist said that America “is creating an aristocracy of wealth populated by heirs who don’t have to work for a living yet have great influence over how the nation’s productive assets are deployed,” and called Mr. Sanders‘ tax proposal “a welcome step toward reversing this trend.” According to a study conducted by the American Enterprise Institute, raising taxes on the wealthy is not as effective as cutting spending to reduce national debt and make up budget gaps.”

This is the telling point about socialists. First of all they don’t believe you actually build any business. If, by chance, you did build a business and seek to pass it on to subsequent generations, they will demonize you. Consider the American farmer who wants to pass on an inheritance to a son or daughter. This is not cool in Bernie’s world. Will this also apply to those ice cream moguls Ben and Jerry? That is some expensive ice cream.

We can all expect to hear more income inequality rhetoric from the Democrats during this election cycle. Like the minimum wage crusade, it’s all a weak attempt to rally the masses. The basic truths of sound economic policies are clear. The Washington Times article states; “Researchers examined 21 Organizations for Economic Cooperation and Development countries between 1970 and 2007 and found that countries with successful fiscal reforms.” Tax, regulatory, monetary, and governmental programs, on average, closed 85 percent of budget gaps with spending cuts. Countries that relied on at least 50 percent tax increases, saw failed fiscal reforms. Obama and his ilk have wasted far more hard working American taxpayer dollars. Regardless, we still continue to hear the cry of “we want more.” It’s time to shut the door.

The result of increased taxes from a socialist government can be seen from across the Atlantic Ocean in France, where the response has been a degradation of the upper income tax base. It has nothing to do with being economically unpatriotic, and not paying your “fair share.” It is the direct result of the government’s criminal pursuit of the wealth of the nation, making business building unfeasible.

  1. It always come down to spending others money, except their own.Not that promoting ownership of your own actions or even acknowledging the fact that society has given every one the ability to raise themselves from poverty.

    • Making a life…..”the American dream” is why so many people came here. To make their lives better. They worked hard to provide for their families. But now we have minimum wage earners who are relying on such positions to achieve their American dream. People don’t want to work anymore, or try to improve their station in life. They just want more.

  2. What’s so ironic about comrade Bernie’s comments is that Obama, who so into the class warfare angle and so pro “little guy” has established policies that has favored ONE class: The wealthy! He has administered a crushing decline in the middle class, who’s income has been stagnant for 8 years now.

    • Very nice post but you’re being too generous by saying that income has been “stagnant” for the middle class. When, in reality, it is down 8% since Obama took office. Coupled with soaring gas prices, food prices, health insurance costs, and numerous other price index measures, the middle class is being absolutely crushed. Obama brags about the stock market metrics, but only the super rich are seeing any windfall here because they have the greatest borrowing power to capitalize on quantitative easing and ZIRP.

      • The stock market doesn’t reflect the economy. It’s only the result of the Federal Reserve’s Quantitative Easing policy of infusing fiat money into the economy, buying up Treasury Notes to keep interest low and offset the National Debt. You don’t get interest from savings accounts, CDs or T-notes and investing in realestate is not very lucrative so there’s nowhere else to put money except for the stock market.

Anyone who points to the stock market to say that it shows that our economy is great doesn’t really understand economics or prefers not to look at the other factors pointing to the reality of a slow and mediocre recovery.

  3. Here is an idea for Bernie Sanders, have every Democrat who makes more than $250K/year donate every penny above that to the IRS then they can say they are leading by example instead of Do as I say not as I do.

  4. Ah, another liberal who bloviates about the rich needing to pay their fair share of taxes. Damn the fact that the top 5% pay 57% of all income taxes, while the top 20% of wage earners pay 93% of all the taxes. Socialists like Bernie Sander won’t be happy until the top 20% pay 100% of all taxes. And we wonder why American is going down the proverbial shitter.

  5. Raising taxes and piling on more and more government regulations are the cause of businesses moving out of the U.S.. Sure they still want the citizens to buy their product, but the money goes to another country. Simplify the message for the sheeple…

  6. I returned from Eastern Europe (Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Romania, & Bulgaria) 4 weeks ago. If the “Progressive Socialists” want to see how socialism REALLY affects the populace, they need to pay these countries a visit. Unemployment is anywhere from 17% to 30%. So much for spreading the wealth.
What I saw of these “in transition” countries, the American people would NOT want to live the lives of those peoples. There is NO middle class. It’s either the very wealthy (an elitist community) and the poor.

    • Yes, you speak the truth. These countries suffer. If the progressive socialists that buy into Obama’s vision could only truly “live it” they would say hell no! Socialism sucks.

  7. Instead of just a small number of very large corporations paying 0% on their taxes all companies should pay 0%. The sad truth is that consumers pay all the taxes and in the case of corporate taxes consumers pay the tax plus the profit that the corporation charges on it’s expenses.

  8. What I don’t understand is why something someone has worked hard to build and make successful, belongs to the government. Why isn’t it right anymore to hand down your successful business to your children. I know that half of the people in favor of taxing the rich, were in their shoes, they would also be objectionable to it. Also, flipping burgers is NOT a career choice. Those positions are not intended to sustain a family of four. These fast food/minimum wage positions are stepping stones to a better job that DOES pay more.

    • Exactly. Flipping burgers is for high schoolers – not a career. If someone is there at the age of 30 they best be in management or they will be there the rest of their lives, or we could likely predict this. High five for those who start off in high school and work their way into management/ however the goal is ownership/franchise. Trust me when I say those people working in fast food hate it, can’t wait to move on to a better job. Hope they move forward, educate themselves and get out of the fast food system.

    • Exactly, what I have been saying, I went back to school to get a job in a career that I wanted. After nine years I am working in a job I love, I do not make 15 dollars and hour, but I make more than what I started out in the workforce. I worked for it. And that makes the difference, it is time those that want to be given a higher salary to work for it.

  9. Once again the right wing working LOONS are fighting so the WEALTHY can get more while their pay stay exactly the same! You loons keep fighting for the FAT CATS!!

    • Earl what about the people that worked to be rich. What about the people who started with nothing, but worked themselves almost to death to make it. What about them. They were poor with nothing, but they worked for it. The MADE IT. What about them? Are they “fat cats” as you call them? We are wealthy because we WORKED for it. We WORKED ourselves into making it, into being “wealthy” and yet you want to take what I worked my backside off for and give it to someone like yourself (?) just cause they didn’t have my DRIVE, MY DETERMINATION, MY RELENTLESS DESIRE TO SUCCEED after coming from having literally nothing and I mean ZERO – NOTHING!!?? Is is a crime to succeed in your play book Earl? I’m guessing you never had my kind of drive or you would be bitching about how our current government and you thinks it is some sort of a crime to actually succeed against ALL ODDS. Yeah I think I will keep fighting for what’s MINE>

      • Who has a problem with people getting wealthy?? NOT I….I have a problem when you can afford to manipulate the system to benefit YOU and your interest! When you BUY politician to vote in your favor vs the workers favor. When you BUY politicians to make sure that ALL of the money flows directly to the TOP and the WORKING man has to work harder and harder! But you go full steam ahead Skippy to make sure the RICH gets more!

      • But whose money is it? Who worked for it? And what on earth is wrong with trying to make something happen that will be of benefit to yourself? Is that not why one works in the first place? To benefit themselves? All the money flows directly to the top? Right.

      • Earl, so, the unions aren’t buying votes/politicians and strong armed tactic(?) Please, don’t go there. The government unions have a policy, you can’t fire any GS person, even if they killled someone. They claim it would be political if a GS gets fired. And due to the economy they stay until the day they die. And they are guarenteed their job for life, no matter how incompatant they are.

    • About 90% or more of the “wealthy” earned their fortunes, they didnt inherit them. And my pay doesnt stay the same, because I continue to improve myself, work hard, and get promotions and pay raises – the same as every real American and not the garbage that want handouts and entitlements.

      • So you would prefer millions of people strung out on welfare and the socialist plantation uneducated and worthless to the country instead of making them earn a living and get off their a and start making something of themselves. How well has that worked for the inner city / black community?

      • The millions that are on welfare doesn’t outnumber the MILLIONS that get up and go to work EVERYDAY! You seem to believe that everyone in the black community is on welfare and NONE work!

      • You can claim that’s what it seems. I have no doubt with the racism chip on your shoulder you see that in everyone. But no. That’s like saying because I disagree with illegal immigration I am saying all immigrants are illegal. A doesn’t equal B no matter how racist you are and want it to be.

And you haven’t answered the question, how has the socialist plantation worked out for the black community. Highest unemployment rate, highest children out of marriage, highest violent crime, etc etc.

      • You haven’t answered my…how has republican policies helped the black community? Wait…republicans don’t concern themselves with the black community. They use people like Allen (buy my tee shirts) west and Herman (999) Cain to try to show…”LOOK WE ARE NOT RACIST”

      • The Republicans were the ones that voted in civil rights. Kinda think that helped a lot. And you cant reverse years of socialist policies under Johnson, Carter and Clinton. If you want to claim only republican policies are in effect under republicans and only democrat policies are in effect under democrats, you are a complete id 10t

      • Earl Lee meet the 80s, 80s, meet earl lee. After that that everything else has been trying to head off the ramifications of the great society and democrat economic policies. And by the way, what have democrats done for you? If you want to ignore the 60s you can, but if you want to see what the democrats made it for, you need only look to LBJ who outright said it was to fool the black community into voting democrat.

      • Since republicans havent been able to do anything for years, theres nothing in 2014 or for the last 6 years since every bill coming out of the House is dead on arrival in the senate and doesnt even get debated much less voted on. The house has something like 200 bills passed to the senate that went NO WHERE. But on a micro scale, look at republican governors who are starting to get control of unions and stop them from forcing membership and extoriting them. Look at republican led states whose economies are recovering as they encourage business investment which makes JOBS for “the working stiff”. Look at republican states thats are trying to hold off on expanded government overreach by obamacare and law enforcement. Look at republican led states trying to control illegal immigration – and being punished for it – which HELPS the “working stiff”keeping employment opportunities for Americans.

      • Have you looked at any of the 200 bills?? Dude…stop spewing talking points and give me something that will help the working stiff! Everything republicans propose only help corporations and that does not trickle down to the WORKER

      • “Dude” I have given you plenty of examples. What you are looking for is what handouts Republicans have given, they havent and wont. Handouts to “workers” is not helping.
Go ahead and prove that ANY of the handouts democrats give are helping – what happened to the traditional family when people started looking at the government as their “babys daddy” instead of holding the Dads responsible. What happend when democrats got in bed with unions and allowed them to extort from taxpayers and coorporations for obscene benefits packages – see Detroit, see the US Steel industry, see the US manual labor market. You want handouts, the Republicans take the burden off your back – or at least try to- put their by lazy welfare lifers. What you do with that opportunity is up to you, you can succeed or fail, feast or famine. But its up to YOU, not the government. THATS what you get from Republican / conservative ideals. Not ever greater taxes. You keep throwing out soundbits about coorporations, who the he ll do you think pays those wages for labor jobs? Yes, republican plans help coorporations, they help encourage business growth, they help encourage new businesses. New business create competition that drives UP wages. Why dont you take an economics class and not a class on the communist manifesto.

      • See…I know I’ve already won the argument when you have to use the term HANDOUT! Dude…I work daily…I don’t get any assistance from ANYONE…what are these handouts you keep speaking of? There are millions upon millions just like me that get up and go to work DAILY! You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe people vote AGAINST the republican party because of this mythical free crap! We REJECT the policies and the actions of the republican party!!

      • So you vote against policies you neither know nor understand. Exactly what Lyndon Johnson wanted, another mindless democrat voter bought off by the great society. And YOU still havent answered my question what does the democrat party do so great for the “workers”.
And your reading comprehension is sh it by the way, try reading my WHOLE post not just the part you want to respond to.

      • I vote against policies that only benefit the FEW! You loons seem to believe that the more you give to the TOP the more will come to the worker. Well…when exactly is that suppose to happen???

      • There is no such policy that doesnt help an individual group better than another.
Every day commerce happens workers are being helped. Every penny taken out of commerce by government workers are hurt. If you think taxing the rich and companys into oblivion is going to help, you better go back to elementary school math.
How do you think people like Carnegie, Ford, Rockafellar and others ran businesses? Do you think the US became an economic power house because of Welfare and unemployment benefits?
Do you think factories are going to be built in areas with a 50% coorporate income tax when they can build them in Mexico for practically nothing?

      • In huh..there are no policies designed to help corporations? We already know that republicans don’t have any policies designed to help the working stiff!!

      • Because the 60’s were the last time the debate was about conservative or liberal ideas. Ever since than its really just been about trying to throttle back on or accelerate socialist ideas. Ever since Johnson bought the black vote and lied through his teeth to you about it (well not really since he came right out and said he was buying the black vote for decades – though he used a different word for blacks) its been all about trying to curtail the “great scoiety” and socialist policies. And if you want to get technical, its really been since the 30’s when FDR started the social security program. If you want an education, listen to Reagans 1964 key note address, you will
hear the exact same arguments about government overreach and inefficiencies as you do now, the exact same arguments about liberal mistakes about the real world.

      • Why yes, back to the 60’s We need to learn that history again. Because the was Hillary’s time, and we have to keep her in our minds to maker sure she is voted for president. Not the fact that she hasn’t done anything of any value.

      • What have the democrats done but given you scraps from the socialist table? The republicans aren’t trying to buy you. And they aren’t going to “do anything for the black community” they DO things for the COUNTRY as a WHOLE. The fact you want to base policy on racial lines is what makes you a racist, not them.

      • The county as a WHOLE??? You cannot back that statement up with FACTS! You can’t give me ONE POLICY republicans that benefit the working stiff without involving tax breaks for the wealthy or deregulation. It’s been proven that trickle down doesn’t work but yet you continue to fight hard so the rich can have more and do nothing to help the working stiff get more! What exactly do you LOONS have against the worker making more money??

      • Republicans cut taxes for the entire country, they also continue with national defense as a priority which enables businesses to prosper, encourages trade, increases US job growth, and improves international stability. ALL of which aid the “working stiff”. What republicans DONT do is give hand outs. If you want to make more – work harder or work smarter. You have the freedom to succeed AND to fail. And de-regulation has been proven to IMROVE a country’s economy, thats why country do it and thats why companys move to those countrys.
Your problem is you think helping means giving hand outs, you want free stuff, you want entitlements, you want to take from one to give to another. You are guilty of the sin of envy and laziness. Instead of being envious of what someone else has and wanting them to not have it, whyc dont you look at what others have and work to have the same. Why do YOU think its ok to punish successful people?

      • And exactly how does the republican plan of TRICKLE DOWN help the black community…since you are SOOO concerned with the black community

      • How about the Republican plan to make the US more appealing to business and a plan to simplify tax laws so small businesses are easier to start. BOTH of which ACTUALLY create jobs and wealth.

      • Un huh….so where are the jobs? Bush did that and we were loosing almost 1 million jobs per month….TAX breaks only put more money in the fat cats pockets…those breaks do not equate to JOBS!!

      • Do yourself a favor, look up the Dodd – Frank act.
Your stupid soundbites from the liberal hand book don’t mean anything.

      • Dodd – Frank cost 1 million jobs per month…Why is it that republicans can never take responsibility for FAILED republican policies?

      • Dodd Frank is DIRECTLY responsible for the recession 1:1, no doubt and no questions about it and GWB TRIED to overturn it. So yes Republicans do try to help but your socialist economics friends were salivating to force “social justice” by forcing lenders to give money to people who cant afford it.

      • Dem House and Senate between 2007 – 2010. Unless you are going to claim 1/3 of the government has nothing to do with government or policy.

      • Not hardly, the Repubs make mistakes all the time. Massive ones. But their mistakes are generally in compromising and deviating from conservative ideals. You know ,the ones that built the economy and country subsequently ruined by socialist policies. Were there a VIABLE third party that actually followed libertarian / conservative ideals I would vote for them over repubs. But what I do see is a dem party not just full of hypocrite politicians (just like republicans) but one that espouses and pushes a policy that is completely bankrupt and devoid of real economic or social understanding.

      • Once again you view it as simple as republicans are good unless they compromise. Sorry pal but 9/11 under republican watch.. Economic collapse of 2008 republican watch, nearly 1 million lost jobs per month republican watch. Government shutdown costing billions republicans, threating not raising the debt ceiling causing credit rating to drop….REPUBLICANS

      • 9/11: President Bush had been in office less than 8 months. You can try to blame him for that but go ahead, your 1-million jobs lost per month falls squarely on your boys shoulders than.
1 million jobs lost – due to the housing market failure, which failed due to a democrat created policy Pres Bush tried to oppose and overturn
Govt shutdown – takes two to tango, your boy has spent 6 years opposing any compromise with the republican party, gee shocking they start saying no to his dictates.
credit rating – again due to both parties being unwilling to compromise, which your boy is unique in. Bill clinton did fine with a republican congress, your boy now cant see past his own ego anymore than you can and tries to hand out dictates. hes an incompetent president and an arrogant POS person.
unlike you i dont slovenly follow one party (which by the way you STILL havent told us how democrats help the “poor workers” where i have pointed out how the directly hurt them), i believe in a system which being there are only two viable partys, the republicans are closest to it, but hardly what i think is the answer and i vote that way. i havent ever voted a straight ticket. i think we all know you do. so continue on back to the plantation pres johnson made for you. continue on and vote just the way he said you would, and take comfort to know a southern racist president from 50 years ago has bought and sold you and every vote you make is just another confirmation of how much you enjoy your chains.

      • Notice how every critique you make is based on lies, false assumptions, and racism?
Notice how im not defending them, just pointing out the stupidity and/or hypocrisy of your statements?
Notice how you havent done anything but throw out democrat / communist party sound bits and made not a single statement about how the “poor working stiff” should be helped?

      • Your entire position is based on lies and misrepresentation. I give you facts you change the subject (remember when i pointed out what regulation was doing to West Virginia after you tried to hold it up as a good example), or simply make general statements with no specific examples. You keep spouiting off about the “working stiff” but havent made a single coherent point about what exactly you think is helping, where I have given plenty of examples of exact policies that do help (decreased regulation, lowering taxes, increased civil rights). You have nothing behind a single statement you have made except the concept of yelling over than the person who is trying to reason with you. Why dont you give a SPECIFIC case or policy YOU think would help “the working stiff” who you have appointed yourself to advocate for inspite of no one having voted for you or having the intellectual capacity to do so.

      • Ive given you plenty of examples. You can keep pulling out sound bites from the communist manifesto and the democrat party all you like. you havent made a single cogent point. you cant point to anything the evil republicans did to support your beliefs.

    • Earl, you’re a little bit confused. There is a difference between capitalism – which is people working hard and succeeding, and crony capitalism – which is corporations and individuals buying off politicians to further their own financial gain and to push out smaller businesses. The current Socialist regime is just as guilty of crony capitalism as any other regime. Possibly worse. Maybe you should check into how Nancy Pelosi’s husband got so rich. Maybe you should realize that the current Congress has over 100 blood relatives who are lobbyists. Maybe you should get out there and work your butt off to make a living like we all did just to have it taken away from us to be given to people who want a hand out. Then come and tell me what it means to be a fat cat. Obama and all of his cronies are the definition of fat cats.

      • So maybe you can educate me on how the republican party is fighting for the WORKING MAN! Please….show me a bill or proposal

      • I’m a Libertarian, not a Republican. I also support term limits for the House and Senate, and I believe that just about everyone governing our country has fallen into the crony capitalism corruption.. What I do know is that CONSERVATIVE values always help the middle class. Limited government, responsibility for ones own life, lower taxes, education, morality, etc., all develop a healthy middle class. If you have ever traveled to Socialist countries, then you know that there is no middle class in Socialism. There are the uber-rich, and everybody else. That is what Obama and his cronies are trying to establish in this country. Socialism does not raise people up to a common happiness, it pushes people down to a common misery.

  10. Go ahead and raise the minim wage, if you like the fact that, that will force company’s to move their . Business over sea’s . But don’t start crying when you can’t find work, Socialism is a mental disorder !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. yes sir fear not Bernie the socialist has the answer steal more wealth from those who create the jobs…news flash Bernie you arrogant ass…you can steal all the wealth of Gates, Buffet, et al and it will barely fund the gubmint for two days. Typical liberal progressive Socialist Communist Utopian Marxist –SCUM…make everyone equally poor and gubmint more in CONTROL

  12. According to the numbers, if the government seized (not taxed but seized) the entire gross assets of the nations 100 most wealthy people, it would pay the interest on the debt for less than ONE WEEK.

    • @Roy There isn’t enough rich people to pay for all of the US GOV programs. So, they have to tax the heck out of the working class.

  13. Hey Bernie, why not try cutting foreign aid and stop picking on working class Americans! It’s time we took care of our own, the rest of the world can hate us and burn our flag for free, we don’t need to pay them!

  14. I have to wonder about liberals / leftists who believe this policy. You cant point to a single time in history where raising taxes on one group alleviated them for another. Its not “transfering wealth from the haves to the have nots” its tranferring wealth from the people to the government. Its not like if they tax every billionaire 100% they atre even going to balance the budget. If anything they will just spend more. The problem is taxes , they arent the answer.

  15. Millionaires and billionaires who think taxes are a good thing aren’t necessarily socialists. Warren Buffett and George Soros for example.

      • Please tell me where you heard that from? According to his bio it never said “he fought the communism in Hungary.” The Nazi occupation of Hungary was the happiest time of his teenage years. In 1947 his family moved to London. He went to school and went into the business of finance.

What do you think a social democrat is? The same as a liberal democrat. He believes the government should pay for everything and have control of everything. George Soros is a egotistical maniac. And he uses his wealth to buy politicians to change our laws and the way of life you claim to love i.e: spouse, kids, house, etc.

      • Soros did collaborate with the Nazis, albeit at age 14, per his own admission on a 60 minutes interview on 20 December 1998 broadcast . See the following transcript:

KROFT: (Voiceover) To understand the complexities and contradictions in his personality, you have to go back to the very beginning: to Budapest, where George Soros was born 68 years ago to parents who were wealthy, well-educated and Jewish.

When the Nazis occupied Budapest in 1944, George Soros’ father was a successful lawyer. He lived on an island in the Danube and liked to commute to work in a rowboat. But knowing there were problems ahead for the Jews, he decided to split his family up. He bought them forged papers and he bribed a government official to take 14-year-old George Soros in and swear that he was his Christian godson. But survival carried a heavy price tag. While hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were being shipped off to the death camps, George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his appointed rounds, confiscating property from the Jews.

(Vintage footage of Jews walking in line; man dragging little boy in line)

KROFT: (Voiceover) These are pictures from 1944 of what happened to George Soros’ friends and neighbors.

(Vintage footage of women and men with bags over their shoulders walking; crowd by a train)

        KROFT: (Voiceover) You’re a Hungarian Jew…

        Mr. SOROS: (Voiceover) Mm-hmm.

KROFT: (Voiceover) …who escaped the Holocaust…

(Vintage footage of women walking by train)

        Mr. SOROS: (Voiceover) Mm-hmm.

(Vintage footage of people getting on train)

KROFT: (Voiceover) … by — by posing as a Christian.

        Mr. SOROS: (Voiceover) Right.

(Vintage footage of women helping each other get on train; train door closing with people in boxcar)

KROFT: (Voiceover) And you watched lots of people get shipped off to the death camps.

Mr. SOROS: Right. I was 14 years old. And I would say that that’s when my character was made.

        KROFT: In what way?

Mr. SOROS: That one should think ahead. One should understand and — and anticipate events and when — when one is threatened. It was a tremendous threat of evil. I mean, it was a — a very personal experience of evil.

KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.

        Mr. SOROS: Yes. Yes.

KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.

Mr. SOROS: Yes. That’s right. Yes.

KROFT: I mean, that’s — that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

Mr. SOROS: Not — not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don’t — you don’t see the connection. But it was — it created no — no problem at all.

        KROFT: No feeling of guilt?

        Mr. SOROS: No.

KROFT: For example that, ‘I’m Jewish and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be there. I should be there.’ None of that?

Mr. SOROS: Well, of course I c — I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn’t be there, because that was — well, actually, in a funny way, it’s just like in markets — that if I weren’t there — of course, I wasn’t doing it, but somebody else would — would — would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the — whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the — I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.

      • All in a good days work. He learned all of the day to day habits performed by your average thieving, killing, and torturing Nazi. I don’t think that was his Dad’s intent. It created a true sociopath that current day populations have had to deal with.

    • William, with all due respect if you think Buffet and vermin like Soros (do research on this miscreant) pay their fair share, think again. Buffet has owed $1billion for 10 years. And if the IRS would ever do an honest audit on Soros he would go to jail. I’m a capitalist all the way and nuts like Sanders who believe in this progressive nonsense of taking from the achievers and giving it the takers are dangerous. Help the really needy, but not the frauds. Not on my dime.
