[VIDEO] The belligerent drunk trying to destroy Rick Perry

The “I” word — everyone has been told to stay away from it and never mention it because it’s political suicide. They say mentioning the “I” word is a losing battle and will cause a loss of focus. Some have tried so hard to avoid the “I” word that they’ve pursued other means by which to make the point of unconstitutional behavior by the head of the executive branch.

I must once again remind the Republican Party of the words of retired U.S. Marine First Sergeant Jim Reifinger: “If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, it is because your tactics suck.” Particularly when dealing with progressive socialists who follow the Saul Alinsky “Rules for Radicals” playbook, you find yourself dealing with people who have no character, standards, and especially NO RULES.

While the GOP is running from the “I” word, Texas Democrats — trust me, national Democrats — are running towards an “I” word: Indictment.

As reported by Fox News, “Texas Gov. Rick Perry was indicted Friday for allegedly abusing his veto power during a dispute with a public corruption prosecutor over her drunken driving arrest. The indictment came down late Friday, after a special prosecutor spent months calling witnesses and presenting evidence that Perry broke the law when he threatened to veto $7.5 million over two years for the public integrity unit, which is run by Travis County (home of Austin and the most liberal country in the state) District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg’s office. The governor wanted Lehmberg, a Democrat, to resign after she was arrested and pleaded guilty to drunken driving in April 2013. When she refused, Perry vetoed the money. Governor Perry is the first Texas governor to be indicted in nearly a century.”

If any of you don’t believe this is all politically-motivated and an attack of retribution because Perry embarrassed the president on the illegal immigration situation, you are out to lunch. My friends, here is the opening salvo in the Alinsky-ite tactic of character assassination of your political opposition, because Perry has been gaining momentum as a potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate.

Fox says “Perry was indicted by an Austin grand jury on felony counts of abuse of official capacity and coercion of a public servant. Maximum punishment on the first charge is five to 99 years in prison, and two to 10 years on the second.”

And if you do not see the hypocrisy and irony in this entire episode you have to be completely disillusioned. The clearly evident unconstitutional actions taken by Barack Obama are acceptable and cannot be challenged by the “I” word yet something clearly within the purview of the Texas governor — well, you know where I’m going.

However, what the progressive socialists are banking on is that folks will only hear one thing: “Texas Governor Rick Perry is being indicted” – and I bet that’s all they’re saying over on the liberal progressive media outlets.

As a matter of fact, I wonder if anyone over at NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, PBS or MSNBC is talking about DA Rosemary Lehmberg’s atrocious behavior at the time of her arrest. Her blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit for driving. Lehmberg served about half of her 45-day jail sentence but stayed in office, despite Perry’s assertions that her behavior was inappropriate.

http://youtu.be/JrxsCH_p1oc

And how effective could a criminal DA be? Oops, sorry, forgot, she is a Democrat and standards of decency and behavior are, well, debatable.

So let me get this straight, John Boehner brings a lawsuit against the president for executive overreach and Democrats are up in arms. But Democrats bring a grand jury indictment against a sitting governor over his veto power and requesting the resignation of a criminal occupying the position of the DA — by the same DA – and that’s acceptable? Politics at its best!

Fox says “the Texas Democratic Party called on Perry to resign after the indictment was announced, calling the situation “unbecoming” of a Texas governor. “Governor Rick Perry has brought dishonor to his office, his family and the state of Texas. Texans deserve to have leaders that stand up for what is right and work to help families across Texas,” Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa said in a statement. The left-leaning Texans for Public Justice government watchdog group filed an ethics complaint accusing the governor of coercion since he threatened to use his veto before actually doing so in an attempt to pressure Lehmberg to quit. Lehmberg oversees the office’s public integrity unit, which investigates statewide allegations of corruption and political wrongdoing. Perry said he wouldn’t allow Texas to fund the unit while Lehmberg remained in charge. He used his line-item veto power to remove funding for the unit from the Texas budget.”

But it’s REALLY ok to use a government agency, the IRS, to target specific groups for their political beliefs? Utter progressive socialist hypocrisy.

Fox notes “the dramatic development comes toward the end of Perry’s final term in office. In office since 2000 and already the longest-serving governor in Texas history, Perry isn’t seeking re-election in November. But he was thought to be weighing a possible presidential run in 2016.” And I would surmise that the Texas Democrats just made Rick Perry more popular!

Here is the truth. As Fox reports, “Mary Anne Wiley, general counsel for Perry, said in a statement Friday evening that the governor’s actions were allowed under the law. “The veto in question was made in accordance with the veto authority afforded to every governor under the Texas Constitution,” she said. “We will continue to aggressively defend the governor’s lawful and constitutional action, and believe we will ultimately prevail.” Perry’s defense attorney David L. Botsford said he was “outraged and appalled” at the decision. “This clearly represents political abuse of the court system and there is no legal basis in this decision,” he said in a statement.”

So Texas is facing a border — illegal immigration — crisis and what are the Texas Democrats focused on? I can bet one thing for certain, Governor Rick Perry will stop going to these blue states and ask businesses to move to Texas. The problem is that progressive socialists are like locusts — when they move, they bring their insidious failing political philosophy. And that’s why Austin is a big liberal progressive city — not to mention that little Texas school there. Don’t forget Perry graduated from Texas A&M, and I hope he does one thing: “Gig ’em.”

If this weren’t so PATHETIC—is would be hilarious. This DA needs to be removed from office either through RECALL or RESIGNATION. She should not be in any political office especially one where she HEADS THE INTEGRITY DIVISION. THIS IS WHAT SHE THINKS INTEGRITY IS IN TX??? No wonder her underlings filed criminal charges against Perry for not giving her office any money to fund her illegal activities.

She ruined her career or should have, she should have been immediately fired, disbarred and banned from practicing law in the State of Texas ever again. She is a worthless drunk who battered officers and acted like a common drunken piece of trash.

How does it feel “district attorney”? – This is a video about a guilty dog being cornered and having no where to go. Instead of owning up to the charges, she wants to blame someone else (typical Dem). Sad thing is, you thought you could get away with whatever you want, just like your buddy Obama. This is proof that you can’t. Your number was called, your odds ran out, You are paying the price for being a jackass. I wonder how many times something like this happened to one of the people you had a case against and you… Read more »

No, I’m glad she was arrested and should pay the full price of her behavior, but I also don’t think she is evil. She ruined her life and in a completely humiliating fashion, so I feel for her, that’s all. It’s not as if I’m forgiving her for her behavior. Fortunately, the police got to her before she ruined anyone else’s life on the road.

I am surprised she did not say “Do you know who I am?” because we can see that she thinks it’s all about “her”. That’s what happens when elected officials, politicians and their ilk get so powerful. They stop thinking about those they are serving and think only about themselves and their careers. Pitiful.

I am amazed democrats brought this case. If you watch either one of those videos you know that Perry’s decision was correct. How Texas law allows a law enforcement officer to get arrested, serve time, and stay in office is beyond me. Personally I think all elected officials and government workers should lose their jobs if they are found guilty of a crime, any crime. They should be held to a higher standard.

Brendan
Guest

I agree that Perry was right to ask her to resign. It is disgraceful that she did not resign. The case against Perry, however, is not that he asked her to resign, but that he abused his office by deliberately vetoing funding for the public integrity unit of the DA’s office as personal retaliation for her not resigning.

Steven B Fisher
Guest
I think you are wrong in your assertion the Governor Perry used his line item veto “as personal retaliation”. I think Governor Perry used his line item veto to pressure a criminal who refuses to accept the consequences of her actions to do the right thing and step down. He is acting in the best interest of the State of Texas in so doing. Nothing personal about it. Her indictment however is as they say “A horse of a different color!” The indictment is proof she thinks she is above the law and that like Obama she can break laws… Read more »

I understand that is what they are alleging. However, since the governor has the power to use a line item veto I don’t see that he has done anything wrong. It is not abusing his office, but rather, using the tools of his office. I’m guessing there isn’t anything in the law that says people have to agree with his reason. This one is a huge stretch because the entire pretext is based on a situation where the official in question clearly SHOULD be removed from office. If the state government thinks he is wrong they could over-ride his veto.

Standard operating procedure for libs to blame other’s when they do something wrong in hopes the liberal media will come fling arrows on their behalf and create a story of unfairness, racism, or political agenda in hopes the truth of the incident will become so clouded with reasonable doubt it gets swept under the rug. He’s trying to get someone out of office who has no business being there. I don’t care if he abused his power–it was for the right reason. As a leader he should be able to use his power for situations as this. These are the moments that such an action on his part is appropriate. This indictment is just an effort to get him out of the way. I say way to go Governor, so far I am proud to have you as my state’s leader.

stone8
Guest

It is not abuse of his power. In Texas, he is allowed to veto, by line item, what ever he feels needs to be vetoed. His veto can be over ridden just as the Presidents may, but that did not happen.

Flolady
Guest

I am agreeing with you except to say that Gov. Perry has the authority to veto so in my opinion he did not abuse. Also, I believe the body of the State House could override his veto. Obviously, they knew they would never get enough votes so they took the “dirty” route. When you have Dems on the national level coming out against this indictment then you know it’s all a sham. This will come back to bite the Dems big time.

Dirkweed

Doesn’t Gov. Perry have line item VETO rights and privileges?

Hoppytoo
Guest

How is it an abuse of power?

Brendan
Guest

It is being alleged as an abuse of power because, while he has the legal authority to veto, he publicly stated beforehand his reasons for this veto as being to punish the District Attorney’s office for not giving in to his demand.

That is the abuse of power connected to the veto.

She should have resigned… and Governor Perry was right to put public pressure on her to resign… but using the power of his office to cut funding for her workers as punishment was inappropriate.

docneaves
Guest

He has a responsibility to NOT give money to someone who is clearly his enemy and will not use the funds wisely. Her judgment is in question. Were it a Republican, no Democrat would sleep until he resigned, and you know it. And were it to be a Republican, and he DIDN’T resign, you’d expect the REPUBLICAN governor, let alone a Democrat one, to do exactly as Rick Perry did. This is much ado about nothing, a character assassination plain and simple, and all of you libs know it.

Brendan
Guest

The money didn’t go to her.

docneaves
Guest

Really? Who did it go to? Because I saw:

The indictment came down late Friday, after a special prosecutor spent months calling witnesses and presenting evidence that Perry broke the law when he threatened to veto $7.5 million over two years for the public integrity unit,
“which is run by Travis County (home of Austin and the most liberal country in the state) District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg’s office.”
If it didn’t go to her (or under her control which is the same thing, or at least, when it’s a Republican it is), then who did it go to?

Brendan
Guest

It’s not the same thing.
It’s not her money.
It would have funded work out of the DA’s office and may have cost a job or two… but the money doesn’t effect her salary. None of it was her pocket.

docneaves
Guest

She controls how it is spent. She has shown she has no business being in charge of an “ETHICS” unit. It wouldn’t have matter which ethical violation she made, it’s enough to warrant her resignation, and she didn’t, so Perry held the money until she does. That is not illegal, and THAT is the point. Everything after that is an attack on Rick Perry for political reasons, for character assassination.
