Now this IS absurd: in 2011 CIA director called threat of Islamic caliphate “absurd”

When Barack Hussein Obama referred to the Islamic terror Army known as ISIS as the “JV” team, was he mistakenly referring to his own team? After all, how could it be possible that this threat which even Osama bin Laden knew was dangerous from this 21-page memo was so easily dismissed. It’s déjà vu all over again, when an entire continent sat back and watched the Nazi war machine of Adolf Hitler rise and embark upon its conquests. Except this time, these savages have a bankroll and social media.

But somehow the threat seems to have escaped our JV team in the White House.

As reported by the Washington Times, “The White House is facing questions about whether it underestimated the threat from Islamic State militants in Iraq after the surfacing of a 2011 speech by John O. Brennan, then President Obama’s counterterrorism chief and now CIA director, who dismissed the danger of an Islamic caliphate as “absurd.”

You might recall this speech in Arabic given by John Brennan and you just have to ask, huh? Is this the fella we truly wanted as counter-terrorism advisor and now as CIA Director? Talk about JV. Now, if this were the private sector and someone on the senior staff had delivered a false forecast which resulted in horrible returns for the company — hmm, would the Board of Directors vote on firing said individual? Or perhaps the CEO would kindly request a resignation?

But in government, the person gets a promotion and is running our chief foreign intelligence agency, the CIA. Not only do we have an Islamic caliphate spanning Syria and Iraq, there’s also one declared in eastern Libya. So what part of “absurd” does John Brennan not get? You see, I think the American people, as the Board of Directors, should demand the firing of Brennan — because the CEO, Barack Obama, certainly won’t.

Here’s what Brennan had to say in 2011:

“Our strategy is … shaped by a deeper understanding of al-Qaida’s goals, strategy and tactics. I’m not talking about al-Qaida’s grandiose vision of global domination through a violent Islamic caliphate. That vision is absurd, and we are not going to organize our counterterrorism policies against a feckless delusion that is never going to happen. We are not going to elevate these thugs and their murderous aspirations into something larger than they are.”

“A feckless delusion?” As I read this statement and watched his speech I came to realize that Brennan, and indeed the Obama administration, live in a fantasy world, not the real one. They need to take that infamous “blue pill” and depart the Matrix. The Obama foreign policy doctrine isn’t based on “not doing stupid [email protected]” but based on seeing the world as they desire it. The live in an echo chamber where they tell themselves, “don’t worry, it is not so bad up there on Mt. Sinjar. It’s not as bad as we thought because we did such a fantastic job dropping humanitarian relief for four days. “

In all reality, the vision of Barack Obama is the “feckless delusion” where he actually believes he is an effective leader and the world is a “tranquil” place and his administration is “transparent.”

As Brennan said, a caliphate is not going to happen. In the military, commanders are trained to prepare for the enemy’s Most Dangerous Course of Action (MDCOA) — not your most desired course of action. So with complete blinders on, the decision was made not to “elevate these thugs” — as if Islamic terrorists exist to have the Obama administration grant them respect and title. I applaud Texas Governor Rick Perry for saying what needs to be said about the enemies at the border: we are not facing cartels, we are facing narco-terrorists.

And so, two years later, the Islamic State declared a caliphate in a territory covering northern Syria and northwestern Iraq. Although the militants don’t meet Mr. Brennan’s definition of “global domination,” they are enough of a threat to Iraq and the West that Mr. Obama last week ordered airstrikes and a humanitarian mission to blunt the group’s swift progress.

And sadly enough, the White House agrees with and stands by Brennan. The Times reports “John Brennan’s analysis has stood — and will continue to stand — the test of time,” according to National Security Council spokesman Ned Price. “While [the Islamic State] has made tactical gains in Iraq in recent weeks, al-Qaida’s aspirations for global domination remain delusional.”

How cute the liberal progressives are with their little word games. So have no fear everyone — remember, al-Qaida is on the run and has been decimated — another example of “feckless delusion.”

So on Thursday Obama said, “we have broken the ISIS siege of Mt. Sinjar.” How long before this JV team proves the Obama administration wrong once again?

However the real question is, will the American Board of Directors wake up in time for the November midterms?

Col West, I believe you are giving Obama and his flunkies too much credit here. I don’t think they are simply living in their own, self induced, utopia where they believe the world is tranquil or that his administration is transparent. He is much smarter than that. He is intentionally making things easier for the extremists around the world. He is arrogant enough to think that just because he says a thing, we will believe it. Unfortunately, there are many Americans out there who hang on his every word and will believe everything he says. We are in deep trouble… Read more »

Agreed, Carol. He can do so much damage as a pro-terrorist Muslim (or Islamic apologist) to us before any new regime would be installed in 2017. Islam is a “religion” of global conquest, Muslims against non-Muslims. Not any peace to it other than the ridiculously false and discriminatorily intolerant peace of Muslims seeking literally to eliminate all non-Muslims. (Muslims can even use the doctrine of tawhid to go straight to genocide and override the theoretical options for exile or jizya enslavement tax to Christians and Jews who won’t convert from the real God to the demonic Allah. If it walks and quacks like a duck … The Brennan reports of conversion looked valid to me, with a smear against the ex-FBI agent (if my memory serves) that looked like disinformation. After all Brennan heads the CIA. He’d know how to do that. Both Brennan and Obama could not openly practice Islam without too many Americans’ alarms finally going off, so it’s expected that they would not admit it. Obama’s father and brother Malik Obama are strong indicators of his own being Muslim. Perhaps Mr West should reread John Brennan’s speech.
He did not say that the threat of radicals trying to establish as caliphate was absurd.
He said the notion that they would succeed and achieve world domination through violence was absurd.

Brennan’s comment was cited as evidence he didn’t take the threat seriously – this being the likely explanation for why he failed to take corrective action; inaction being the obvious mistake. While it might have been “absurd” in 2011 to think that ISIS would be successful in establishing world caliphate – Brennan’s failure to act has woefully changed that calculation. I suspect he would also have called absurd the notion that ISIS would conquer 1/3 of Iraq by Christian genocide in the blink of an eye in 2014 – given he took no remedial steps in that regard either.

Scot Fourowls

@ Brendan – Obama made an $11 billion arms deal with petrodollar-rich, pro-Hamas, terrorist-funnel Qatar the same week this summer when Hamas initiated terrorist rocket launching at Israeli citizens. It’s not absurd at all to believe that an Islamic caliphate could succeed in conquering the U.S. if our Cdr. in Chief, CIA, HSA cooperate with it while downsizing the military here and selling off ships from the San Diego Navy base while unsecuring the southern US borders at San Diego and elsewhere through the immigration fiasco. Some of your claims about Obama and Israel are exaggerated, but that is a separate point. Let’s imagine that ISIS succeeded and conquered and subdued enough of the Mesopotamian region to create a muslim extremist caliphate. Would an extremist caliphate be a threat to the US and put us at risk of attacks? Yes… absolutely. We would be in great danger of terrorist attacks and would likely endure some pretty ugly attacks on our homeland. But would they be able to invade America and defeat our military and subdue 300 million Americana? No. Absofrigginlutely not. They could cause damage… but… Read more »

In my opinion, USA has never been bothered about extremist terrorism, especially on Islamists because US, perhaps, might consider them as asset to their military-weapon-bank complex as fetching them business, even if it means anything unconventional. After all, money matters mater, as long this terrorism takes place outside US borders. If Islam isn’t the Religion of Peace, then why are there more than 1.5 billion followers who want and do live in peace?

There are some seven-percent of mulims that are radicalized. That’s a lot, but it has to do with things other than the clear and obvious reading of their religious books.
