When it comes to the infiltration of radical Islamists into America, the enemy is not just at the gates — they are within the gates. I am reminded of this quote attributed to Roman Statesman Marcus Tulius Cicero:
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”
And so this story becomes all the more chilling with Cicero’s quote as a backdrop. According to Breitbart.com, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), is slated to be the keynote speaker at an event honoring the notorious Ground Zero Mosque imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his wife Daisy Khan. Rauf and Khan are respected, even revered, in the mainstream media, and enjoy a reputation as moderate, reasonable, thoughtful, and wise. That reputation is undeserved. Like the host of the event, the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy (ICRD), they have extensive Muslim Brotherhood ties.
As Pamela Geller articulately points out,”Rauf’s sinister mien is not the only indication that he is not even close to being as “moderate” as the media is so desperate to portray him. He has close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood is dedicated, according to this captured internal document, to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within.” Rauf’s book What’s Right with Islam says on the copyright page: “This edition was made possible through a joint effort of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) and the office of Interfaith and Community Alliance of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Funding for this project was provided by IIIT.” Both IIIT and ISNA are Muslim Brotherhood fronts, and ISNA was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror funding case.”
How is it that the Chairman of the HPSCI and his staff would consent to attending an event honoring someone with such a questionable and nefarious history as Feisal Abdul Rauf?
But wait, there’s much, much more.
