GITMO prisoners get better medical treatment than veterans

In light of the despicable treatment being given to our veterans by our own government, it is appalling to find out al-Qaida detainees apparently receive far superior treatment at GITMO.

Not that I find it surprising – I’ve have been to GITMO and one of the things I noticed was the absolute “bend over backwards” treatment for these Islamic terrorists. There were multi-channel cable TVs in the common areas. Generous piles of food for the “detainees” — I prefer prisoners of war.

And now, a former Pentagon spokesman says the 150 jihadists have approximately 100 doctors, nurses and health care personnel assigned to them. That’s a doctor-patient ratio of 1.5 to 1. For America’s 9 million veterans receiving VA health care and 267,930 VA employees, the ratio is 35 to 1.

According to JD Gordon writing for Fox News, “Despite the fact that al-Qaida terrorists carried out the Sept. 11 terror attacks, killing 3,000 people in America, the admitted co-conspirators and their roughly 150 fellow jihadists at Gitmo have approximately 100 doctors, nurses and health care personnel assigned to them. Doctors and medical personnel are at their beck and call. ”

Of course the detractors will chime in that this is an unfair comparison, and it is the principle that matters. But I dare anyone to find this acceptable.

The VA is a classic example of big government gone wild. It is America’s second largest cabinet agency after the Defense Department. Since civil service promotions are traditionally based more on seniority than performance, and it’s near impossible to fire anyone, there’s a punch-the-clock mentality that’s pervasive.

And by the way, just yesterday the U.S. Senate, under the “leadership” of Harry Reid refused to take up a piece of legislation passed in the House that would enable VA employees — including senior level ones — to be fired. According to the Senate Majority Leader’s office, they need more time to study the 4-page bill.

As Gordon writes, if any government entity ever needed a complete overhaul, it’s the VA. If it were in the private sector, it would have been shuttered long ago. Today’s VA has near zero accountability, while labor unions fight to protect employees who aren’t doing their jobs. Shinseki and his senior staff should be the first to go.

Indeed, this is such an important issue that President Obama gave a weak vanilla speech and then whisked off to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown – I guess he’s got his priorities straight. It’s certainly obvious we pay more attention to those whose sole raison d’être is to kill Americans — rather than those whose sole purpose is to defend Americans and our way of life.

Our veterans certainly deserve better treatment than GITMO prisoners of war and America deserves a better president than the one we’ve got.

  1. What more (actually what less) would you expect, when we have a Black Panther (Early American Jihadist) member as President of the USA,

    • The Black Panthers were not Muslims. And the Panthers’ heyday was from 1967 to 1971, when Obama was 6 to 10 years old, living abroad.

I’m sorry to break this to you, but you’re ignorant.

  2. This is fact. I have a friend stationed there. They get treated far better than our Vets. They get treated like they are guests at the White house

  3. The military provides care for our prisoners.
The Veterans Administration provides care for our veterans.
The incompetence, failure, and criminal behavior within the Veteran’s Administration is disgraceful.

But comparing the incompetence of the VA to the competence of our military is absurd, as one has nothing to do with the other.
It is clearly designed to imply that the government is deliberately choosing a preference.

What is happening within the VA is a very serious matter.
Clouding the issue just to promote outrage is not helpful.

  4. This is just disgusting, SICK and outrageous!!!! For always delivering the real news of what is actually going on under sleeping American’s noses (which the mainstream media refuses to report) “We The People” who are paying attention humbly THANK YOU ALLEN WEST!!!

  5. My grandfather was in a VA hospital in the late ’50s, and he died there. The VA system has never been top notch. With the criminal and incompetent people in DC today running it, there is no place but down.

  6. Did not the same people push through affordable health care with the justification that they needed to pass it in order to get to see what it says?

  7. I was mobilized to GITMO after 9/11. Working in supply, I saw the orders for food, quarters, and supplies for the “detainees”. When our personnel had nothing but sandwiches for meals, tents for homes, and water brought by bucket, the prisoners got hot meals 3X a day with tea (they required tea!), plumbing and buildings to live in. Every time the National Red Cross said jump, we had to ask how high! When we didn’t, they would have the press, right there lying to the American people about the horrible conditions. Prisoners came boney, weak and sick. Within a week, they were healthier then the guards.

    • You WERE trying to obtain information from them, or am I mistaken about that?
Can we say the point wasn’t to run a HoJo? It’s been proven that torture doesn’t work, and Americans should not be torturing anyone, anyway.

So they got decent treatment, in hopes of obtaining intel. This is the narrative, anyhow. And it’s turned out that many turned out to be no more than illiterate goatherds – many of whom are still there that were there when you were.

America is superb at making enemies where there were none before. Which is the general idea. Makes enemies so you can wage more war. Good for business!

Have your best friend put you in a squat position, in the blazing sun, with your hands chained behind you, and a sweltering black hood over your head. When you can’t take it anymore, have him/her waterboard you, until you reveal where the key to your mother’s safety deposit box is kept.

Anyone remember, “as ye do unto the least of them, ye do unto me”?
      Let’s hear it, good Christians!
