Now it’s Lee Zeldin; Democrats denigrate military again

If you really want to know how Democrats, i.e. liberal progressives, feel about our men and women who serve, just examine their actions and words.

Several weeks ago, Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor insinuated his opponent, Tom Cotton, has a sense of “entitlement” because he served in the military. The death of two former US Navy SEALs who ran to the sound of the guns in Benghazi is nothing more than a “phony scandal.” And the VA death list scandal? Just isolated instances which Attorney General Eric Holder doesn’t believe are worth an independent investigation — but he will crack down on taxpayer-funded public schools for not admitting illegal immigrant children. Not to mention the nasty characterizations of my own honorable service in the Army from the Left.

I find utterly despicable the latest salvo launched against Lee Zeldin who is running for U.S. Congress in New York. As The Daily Caller reports, The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is accusing the Iraq war veteran of being a “coward,” prompting calls for an apology from the GOP. In a post on its website, the campaign arm of the House Democrats is asking whether Republican Lee Zeldin is being cowardly about Republican Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget.

I happen to know Lee Zeldin, still an Army Reserve Major who served on active duty with the 82nd Airborne Division — he is far from being a coward. I mean, really?

The text of the post by the DCCC is as follows; “Over a month after his House Republicans passed Paul Ryan’s reckless budget, Congressional Candidate Lee Zeldin is still too scared to admit how he would vote for the plan, even though he wants Long Islanders to send him to Congress,” the DCCC said in a release. “Even though every member of Congress had no choice but to vote yes or no weeks ago, what’s taking him so long to decide? There’s only one answer: Zeldin is either woefully uninformed, willfully ignorant or a coward.”

To add insult to injury, a DCCC spokesman posted a tweet with a picture of Zeldin’s face on the cowardly lion from The Wizard of Oz.

The Left possesses a deep-seated animus towards those who serve in uniform, regardless of their patronizing comments. Their actions speak volumes, and they especially despise veterans who seek political office. The sense of duty, honor, country, integrity, and character that our military promotes — those simple values such as courage, commitment, loyalty, and selfless service — are not appreciated by progressive socialists. Sadly, those values are considered useless and antiquated by the Left. Or as Greg Gutfeld says in his book, Not Cool.

Obama and his liberal progressive acolytes display their true colors when it comes to our military — as they decimate it and demean those who have served in it. We can indeed do better America!

Not backing democrats in any way, but I was shocked to find Ryan’s budget included a cost of living cut to military retiree pensions. I can’t back Ryan anymore.

marylou

No pension CUT at all..simply a smaller cola/raise in the future!
That is NOT a cut in pensions!

kakello34
Guest

Once again, where did I say pension cut? I said cost of living cut. You people ignore half a sentence and focus in on one word like “cut”

marylou
Guest

That’s what you wrote!!!!
You obviously were not clear…no one ignored anything…they took what you said at face value “cost of living CUT to military retiree pensions…Your sentence states CUT..not decrease, or no increase in COLA….there is a difference! Gotta say what you mean..

Rena

Sorry Kakello, they way you worded it is wrong. Cost of living cut would mean that he is cutting the cost of living (perhaps cutting BHA or such) of the pension as you are not stating whether its present or future such as a cost of living increase/cut. You should have said he lowered the cost of living increase to make it clearer as to what you meant… especially when you will have people who will pick apart what you say. just an fyi 🙂

Ditto!

The budget deal crafted by Sen. Patty Murray, D-Washington, and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., slowed veterans future cost of living increases but did not reduce base retirement pay.

I never said it did, read my post again. I said “cost of living” cut. or COLA cut. I know exactly what the proposal was. The “cut” was 1% below the proposed cola increase every year until my age 60’s. Cut or reduction in annual COLA raise, however they want to spin it is the same thing.

Stop picking on everyone and defending your sloppy sentence because you did not say what you meant to say!
We read what you wrote….not what you meant to say.
Give it a rest!

Nannette McGowan

Rena is right and you should’ve phrased it more clearly. Your post sounds NO cost of living increases, period, forever. I just wanted to [a] mention that Sen. Patty Murray [D] and Ryan worked with a bipartisan committee so you can’t blame it ALL on Ryan and [b] that they would get cost of living raises but not at the same rate as before.

Perhaps Zeldin prefers to read and research that which he is obliged to vote on???
Wouldn’t that be novel for a change…not to rush to judgment…rather than voting “for” …then… “against”…because you found out what was in it??

We would not be trying to get rid of OBAMACARE if those who voted for it had read it…or so they say in this election year??? Guess what that makes them__________?

Bishop never read the bill. His aide told me that.

I Googled Bishop and for somebody who has been in office since 2003, his Congressional resume’ is rather thin. He hasn’t really done anything in his 11 years in Congress.

His Congressional voting record is rather pi$$ poor also, as shown at below link.

Checked out your link, disisdadrum, and all I can say is WOW, that’s pitiful. When the media asked Bishop what he thought about Zeldin running, Bishop only said, “”Right now, I’m focused on doing my job for as long as I can.” That’s the problem with most members of Congress. It’s all about keeping their job forever and not about the country and the people.

If you think Bishop’s record is bad, check out how are reps voted in the 113th session of Congress. Link provided below.

I’m so glad you posted this. As you said, it shows what they think of the military. Lee Zeldin was a paratrooper, an Iraqi war vet..Bishop sat behind a desk in a college he destroyed, literally, and then sat behind a desk in his offices. He hasn’t had a public town hall for years – that’s cowardice.

The year leading up to the 2012 election, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden were all over the media for their supposed good deeds and efforts for military families. As soon as the election was over, it seems to have ended. Suddenly, after an 18 month haitus, they are at it again as we approach another election. Hmmm??? Their support for military families seems to only coincide with elections. Imagine that.

Liar Obama took us out of Iraq prematurely because of his great skill of negotiation. Not.

Next time you call someone a liar, be sure you know what you’re talking about.
The timetable for full withdrawal from Iraq was arranged between the US and the new Iraqi government by the Bush administration, before Obama was president.
The agreement was signed by George Bush in 2008.

This is a quote from W. Churchill, I thought of you “You ask, What is our policy? I will say; It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, What is our aim? I can answer with one word: Victory—victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there… Read more »

Once again the Communist north shows its true colors. I’m telling ya patriots and fellow veterans…we need to march on DC, run all the fascists out of their offices and hurl them from the top of the Washington Monument!! It’s time to stop the fascist takeover of America that’s currently going on! Obama wants to be the next Fuhrer, we the people need to stand up and say “Oh no you won’t!”

All the more reason for anyone who has or had a military person in the family or as a close friend to stand up and vote for Lee Zeldin and Tom Cotton. The Democrats have nothing they can really brag about – Obamacare. Nope. The rise in the stock market? Nope. It’s based on 0% interest to force bondholders to buy stocks instead of bonds and will collapse like a house of cards if the interest rates go up to 3% or so. The Dems have so many scandals to cover up, lie about or whiffle off, their only option… Read more »

We need Allen West and one big broom in 2016. As a veteran and someone who loves his country, I believe he is the best choice we have.

Perhaps the left hates those of us who have been in the military because 99% of is take our oaths to defend the Constitution seriously.

Funny but all these brain dead progressive commies in Washington seem to have not learned their lesson from 2010. Again they want a vote without reading and understanding what the bill entails. Again an example of ignorant and incompetent legislators opening their mouths and farting out nonsense.

All senators and congressmen who voted to cut military pay cut the military budget and to cut the size of the military should be removed from office. Including the President of The United States

democrats voted against the Iraq war until they stuck their fingers in the wind, gauged public sentiment, then demanded another vote and voted for it.

it wasn’t until the run-up to the ’04 presidential election that their true colors flew again.

that tells you anything you need to know about democrats and the military.

(and look no further than the latest VA scandal to get a glimpse of what fully implemented obamacare will look like. #deathpanels)

In the real world, when you discover new information or that old information was false, you are allowed to change your mind.
in the world of politics, however, no one can ever change their minds regardless of new information.

So Democrats that voted for the Iraq war because the Bush administration showed them false evidence are considered flip-floppers when they changed their minds after they learned they were lied to?

finebammer

the evidence was not “false”. same evidence clinton cited in 1998. saddam did have WMD. he killed 300,000 of his own people w/ mustard gas. (how many people have to be killed at one time for a democrat to designate a weapon “of mass destruction”?? 5000? 10,000? i would submit that DEMOCRATS are WMD. after we pulled out of vietnam at the behest of the anti-american left of the day, 2.2 million people died in the region) democrats and the american people were not “lied to”. saddam was actively seeking yellow cake uranium. the only mistake made in iraq was… Read more »

Better a clown than a psychopath (U and Dick C). Recent reports document Cheney’s use of torture to try and connect Sadam with the 9/11 attacks. His yellowcake prank landed the Scooter in jail . The search for WMDs became the cleanup of leaky 20-year-old junk that damaged the health of US Army personnel. So stick your head back up your ass; people can hear.

Don’t play the veteran card. The political attack against Zeldin had nothing to do with his service. Just because his political opponents disagree with him that is not an attack on veterans. If someone disagrees with Obama, is it because they disagree with blacks? No, of course not. That’s playing the race card to distract from the argument. So why, if someone disagrees with Zeldin, do you say it’s because they don’t like veterans? That’s just playing a different card to distract from the argument. A local Dem called him a coward for refusing to answer how he would vote… Read more »

I think the point was that the man was not a coward in the sense of the word as his military service justified not being one. Why he didnt know which way he was going to vote on the budget, I have no idea. That was entirely up to him. As you can probably see why is a democrat so uptight about him voting on a Republicans budget is hard to understand. He maybe isnt a straight line party follower, it happens. More so that a Democrat straying from the party line it seems.

If this “attack” against Lee Zeldin has got Allen West in such a fury I can only imagine how angry he must have been when Republican Saxby Chambliss accused double-amputee and Vietnam vet Max Cleland of “breaking his oath to protect and defend the Constitution.” Or when his fellow one-term tea party congressman Joe Walsh claimed that Tammy Duckworth talked about her military service too often and drew a comparison between her and “our true heroes.” I mean, if the Zeldin thing bothers him and he’s not a complete hypocrite then I bet he was all over Joe Walsh for… Read more »

The left is afraid of a candidate that has military experience because people will rally around them because they are the real deal usually. And yes I realize some are not and they are easily recognized and are far and few between.

Lets not forget wasn’t it Pelosi who called all veterans “crazy”? Wasn’t it the Obama administration who denied death benefits to fallen soldiers so they could blame GOP congressional members? Isnt it the Obama administration who continues to refuse to allow embassy guards, military members, and consulate employees to carry guns? Just wondering about the outcome of the Benghazi fiasco if the employees there had had some loaded weapons and could have held them off for awhile…….Yep-the refried hippies hate any form of authority (unless of course it’s THEM in a position of authority) and for some reason “authority” means… Read more »

Remember that first townhall meeting gone viral in 2009 (then followed by many across the nation)? When town residents asked some real tough questions about ObamaCare? Well that was Tim Bishop standing there flubbing, flustered, answering nothing and reciting the Obama/Pelosi talking points.,..and the residents schooling BISHOP about what was in that train wreck. What most people DON’T know is what followed. Yes, the residents were angry but they were also respectful. But Bishop, because of some hard questions, went running from that meeting with a fully flanked police escort. What in the WORLD was he thinking?> Then again, Bishop… Read more »
