As Ground Zero museum is dedicated, let memory fuel our commitment

Today we dedicate the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, this generation’s Pearl Harbor, in lower Manhattan. We should all stop and ponder where we were on that infamous day.

I was doing a joint assignment at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune with the II Marine Expeditionary Force. From the command operations center, I watched the second plane strike, and we knew it was not a coincidence. Subsequently of course, another plane struck the Pentagon near the section housing the U.S. Army G1 (Personnel) Directorate. And we shall never forget the words of Todd Beamer – “Let’s roll” — as they commandeered the fourth flight crashing it into the Pennsylvania countryside, instead of its intended target.

Years later I would retire to South Florida, the same place where Mohammad Atta and several of the conspirators had lived and purchased their airline tickets.

This is a solemn day for our nation, the survivors, and the families of those Americans who lost their lives. The Ground Zero museum should be sacred ground just the same as the Pearl Harbor Memorial above the USS Arizona.

Today and every day we must not forget who and what attacked our nation: Islamic extremism. We do not need any PC diatribe. And we certainly don’t need any Muslim groups, such as CAIR (the unindicted co-conspirator in the largest Islamic terrorist funding case) attempting to censor our country. We also don’t need their willing progressive socialist enablers aiding in their pursuits.

Today, let us be truthful. Today, let us resolve to never again let down our guard. Today, let us commit to ensuring the horrors inflicted by Islamic terrorism, jihadism and extremism shall be identified, confronted and defeated not only in America, but across the world.

God bless those we lost on 9-11 and let their memory fuel our commitment.

I want to be flippant, but in this instance I won’t. But still, with an administration that refuses to call a terrorist attack for what it is, name Muslim extremists for what they are, you think this day will make a difference? Nigeria comes to mind as the latest example.

I can’t wait for this terrorist sympathizer in the white house to be gone. It enraged me to think that ANY American would even think to not call this what it was. This illegal president wanna be has made it his only mission for the last 6 years to bring our economy down and raise up Islam. Funny , I didn’t capitalize WHITE house or president or Islam and the only one it continues to auto correct is Islam. Thing must be set to Jihad.

They always find a way to make Islam what matters. Instead of the victims of their insanity.

LTC West, I will never forget the day. I will never forget the murdered, the survivors, the rescuers….ALL the heroes. I won’t forget the brave who immediately enlisted in the military nor those who re-enlisted. I won’t forget the pain or the anger.

Contrary to what the obama administration wants us to believe, I won’t forget that Muslim Islamic Terrorists still want to kill innocent Americans.

While I appreciate The sentiment, I do remember where i was and what I was doing while 50 friends and good acquaintances of mine died. I use to deliver to the World Trade center everyday for 4 years. I got to know a lot of people there in fact my first Wife I met on the 24th floor of One World trade Center. To me it is not important to remember where I was. It is important to remember who they were, that died in the Trade Centers. Tradesmen, secretaries, ship-ping receiving people, Data Processors. Stock Traders. Security people mail… Read more »

Just beware of those seeking to profit only off of 9-11. There are many out there.
