According to a report in The Washington Examiner, “Pennsylvania Democrats reportedly were caught on tape accepting cash bribes, including one lawmaker who was paid to vote against a state voter identification law, but Democratic Attorney General Kathleen Kane shut down the investigation.”
Now, have you heard anything about this Attorney General being removed from office? Of course not. When there are Democrats involved, it’s not news (true on several levels).
Before Kane ended the investigation, prosecutors had collected 400 hours of audio and videotape documenting at least four city Democrats taking payments in cash or money orders, and in one case a $2,000 Tiffany bracelet.
State Rep. Vanessa Brown wouldn’t comment on a story in the Philadelphia Inquirer, but the report relates a conversation between Brown and Tyron Ali, a lobbyist who agreed to be a government source “to win favorable treatment” in his own fraud case. After he gave Brown the money, Ali urged her to vote against a bill that would require voters to show identification at the polls,” the report says. “Brown voted against the measure — as did every other Democrat in the House.”
The reason Kane gave for shutting down the investigation will infuriate you – at least I hope it does. Attorney General Kane specifically told the Philadelphia Inquirer reporters last week that she cancelled the investigation because she thought it was “racist” because prosecutors were “targeting” black lawmakers.
Ah yes, the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card — literally in this voter ID law bribery case — the race card. You see, integrity and character do not matter if you are black, oops, a liberal progressive Democrat and black.
Shall I remind you of Representative Maxine Waters (D-Ca) and her nefarious connections involving her husband’s financial institution? He sits on the board and receives stimulus monies. But, no big deal, the Democrats just elevated her to Ranking Member on the Financial Services Committee.
And it was after all US Attorney General Eric Holder who told State Attorneys General that they didn’t have to enforce laws they didn’t believe in — looks like Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Kathleen Kane took those words to heart.
Now if you are a black conservative and sneeze, you’ll be accused of spreading a disease. Folks, wrong is wrong, regardless of skin color, and for the Pennsylvania Attorney General to end an investigation involving elected official corruption is a heinous violation of the people’s trust. To do so under the guise of some sense of racial social justice is indeed an impeachable offense.
On that subject, it’s funny. Earlier this month during CPAC, I attended a reception sponsored by Crown Forum where I was approached by a reporter from The Daily Beast. She asked me if I thought Governor Chris Christie should be impeached.
Liberal progressives – including that reporter — should learn a lesson from Matthew 7:3-5 (NIV): “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
Spare me the “corrupt Republicans, draining the swamp” rhetoric. Take heed of Jesus’ words from the Gospel of Matthew and remove the plank from both your eyes.
