Echoes of the past: will gun registration in Conn. lead to confiscation?

Liberal progressives seem hell-bent on ignoring the Second Amendment statement, “the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”New York Governor Cuomo has certainly made his sentiments known in rejecting those who believe in the Second Amendment. Now it seems his neighbor northeastern state, Connecticut, is taking that sentiment to another level.

In January in Connecticut, it became illegal for citizens to own semi-automatic rifles or high-capacity magazines without having them registered with the state. Applications for gun registration had to be submitted by January 3rd. Owning an unregistered semi-automatic rifle or high-capacity magazine that was legal prior to January 3 is now a class D felony under the new law.

However tens of thousands of defiant gun owners chose not to register their rifles, and now the state is taking some action.

According to a report in The Blaze, Officials are reportedly notifying gun owners who submitted late applications that they have one last chance to get rid of their “illegal” weapons.” It seems that a draft notification is being prepared for Connecticut citizens who are practicing civil disobedience in response to a gun control law they see as being hastily passed and unconstitutional. However, The Blaze reports not a single letter has been sent out so far.

Gun owners who actually tried to register their guns and magazines, intentionally late or not, are now on the state’s radar for owning guns that became illegal overnight. It’s unclear if the state plans to start prosecuting gun owners who don’t dispose of their semi-automatic rifles or high-capacity magazines — or if they have a plan for checking if the late applicants comply with the warning.

We all know the tragedy of the Newtown Connecticut shooting resulted in the deaths of many American children. But for lawmakers to make laws against law-abiding citizens is not a responsible legislative action, it is tyranny.

Instead of seeking to ensure and guarantee that mentally ill or those with mentally ill individuals in their households have no access to firearms, the politicians in Connecticut sought the low-hanging ideological fruit — banning previously legal firearms and magazines.

Can you imagine going to bed one night and then waking to find out that you now possess something illegal that was just legal when you put your head to pillow? In this upside down world of progressive socialists, marijuana should be legalized — my position would be to decriminalize it — but legal, lawful firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens are illegal. As former White House Chief of Staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel states, “never let a good crisis go to waste.”

Do you agree with the civil disobedience of gun owners? Is the action of the Connecticut lawmakers constitutional? Is this the petri dish effect and will we soon see this in other liberal states?

  1. Another day, another Ultra-Right guy making an Obama / Nazi reference. Hey, ho. It only helps us frame you as extremists and for us to win more elections.

    • Hitler didn’t become dictator overnight. It took time, and various steps like the above reference, to make it happen.

Ignoring that means that you LIED.

    • Not once was Obama mentioned in the above article. If you’re blind to the similarities, it’s only because of your own ignorance. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”

    • No what is extreme is the fact the Connecticut legislature actually passed such a law. It is none of the governments business what I eat,or if i choose to buy healthcare or not. And it is certainly none of their business what kind and how many guns I have.

  2. The comparison to Germany is a little hyperbolic, but I am a strong supporter of the Constitution and support the right to bear arms.
I am a liberal, but I see no reason why every law-abiding sober-minded adult citizen should not only have the right to own guns, but to carry.

Gun restriction is not the answer.
    Gun education is.

We have the right to defend ourselves, our homes, and our loved ones.

    • And don’t forget that it is also falls in our duties, per 2nd. amendment, to defend and protect the constitution.

    • the events of today are mirroring the events of pre-WW2. Hitler forced gun registration the confiscated weapons. There are a lot of similarities between now and then. I am glad you support gun owners ship and proper education.
We do have the responsibility to defend and uphold the Constitution against foreign and DOMESTIC enemies. a tyrannical government trying to usurp the Constitution is a Domestic enemy.
Peacefully reclaiming our country is always the best option. It may come to violence, that depends on how the government reacts to the citizens demands.
They in Congress are not listening to us as it is. We go to Washington they will not have a choice, but to listen

  3. The Citizens must remove the States leaders by any means possible including but not limited 2 Semi Automatic Rifles & High capacity Clips. You can Stab them. Hit them and if they still don’t leave? Shoot 2 Kill~!! They are Breaking the law! Not the Citizens.

    • People like you, calling for killing politicians, are part of the problem and make the majority of us rational gun owners look bad.

      • What do you think the 2nd amendment is for.???
Not just for anyone to tote a gun but to protect those from persecution who are willing to go the necessary steps, when needed, to defend the constitution against tyrannical politician’s who are passing decres that in the long run will nullify the very same and will transform US ALL from a CITIZEN INTO A SUBJECT.

  4. If you pass a low and no one obeys it,, it’s no good so civil disobedience is the perfect way to kick that law off the books, First one arrested, sue the state of conneticut, this is the first step. Only if civil disobedience does not work do you take a violent stance.

  5. Disarm the liberal states first. Makes disarming the conservative states easier next. Puts more pressure on them. Makes them looks like hold outs. Etc

  6. I entirely reject the notion that the Second Amendment depends on whether you believe in it or not. They have been changing this conversation for a long time now. The Second amendment says “The Right to Keep and Bear Arms shall not be infringed.” This statement, According to Supreme Court Judge Antonin Scalia, says that this right was already established and the Constitution confirms it and makes it law. It does not establish this right, as the text says the (already established) right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. There has been 50 year effort to weaken and strip the Constitution by Judicial Legislation based on a theoretical “Living” Constitution which allows language to be interpreted freely, not for what it is, but rather for what a single person thinks it “Ought to Be”. No Gun legislation can possibly be Constitutional without this watering down. The Second Amendment is the Law of the land and if people want to change it, there are built in mechanisms to do this. This is not “Belief”, this is fact… unless “We the People” freely give this away to those who would rule us as an Oligarchy. Give up any amendment without changing or eliminating it by the due process of Law is allowing Tyranny to reign.

    • Well said imo…the second amendment affirms the right to arms already existed. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!!!! As I posted already ….there are many Constituional jurists who agree.

  7. when are people going to wake up it started out the government was working for us now were working for the government we need to come together as 1 and take our country back and get the government working for us and no career crooks oops I mean polititans
    .

  8. Seig
Heil Comrade !! The Grand Imperial Council has declared all serfs must
register their weapons with the state, or state sponsored privateers
will kick in your doors at 4am, shoot your dog, abuse and threaten your
small children, beat your spouse and kill you in your bed if possible.
All in the name of public safety !!

    • Since the photo was taken in October, 1940 and the Germans had already invaded France in May, 1940, what’s your point?
Remember, step one in any takeover is to disarm the populace.

      • So it’s Nazi Germany registering Jews in France not the Weimar Republic registering guns in Germany and you want to know what the point is? The point is conservatives suck at facts.

      • The pont is the photo is misleading as it leads those viewing it that it is a photo taken in Germany when in fact it is not. So your point is? It is better to be factual then to just assume something is as it states.

  9. Thomas Jefferson — ‘When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty.’

I stand strong with the gun owners in Connecticut and any other state (I’m from NY) that tries to take away my right to own and use legally, firearms. People of Connecticut need to take the route of boycotting this law and not register en-mass. It needs to go to the SCOTUS for resolution and hopefully the SCOTUS will stand with the Constitution as it is written and as it was meant to be, they already ruled once in District of Columbia versus Heller, in which the Court ruled that the Second Amendment is an individual right to privately keep and bear arms. Now the liberal led states like NY and Connecticut are using this approach to further antagonize gun owners. Maybe they do want a civil war. Keep pushing people around and see what happens.

  10. My Grandma used to tell me how she was standing in line with her father to get his guns registered.
Two years later the GESTAPO came to confiscate them and locked her father up AND SIX YEARS LATER IT WAS RAINING “CHRISTMAS TREES” (British Napalm Bombs)

NJ considering bill that would ban many rifle On Monday, the New Jersey Assembly’s Law and Public Safety Committee is scheduled to hold a public hearing about a bill that reduces the maximum magazine from capacity from 15 to 10, but in effect goes even further. Since the legislation covers both detachable and fixed magazines, it has the effect of to banning popular, low-caliber rifles.

  12. The founding fathers did see gun ownership as a right but even they knew that there was a possibility of wrongdoing with those guns. Folks love to quote the 2nd amendment in part but seem to forget the beginning. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,”

  13. There was no right to bear arms in the Weimar Republic. The constitution of 1919 disallowed that. In 1928 weapons were collected mainly to shatter private armies which included the Nazi SA (which was a private army back then). Falsifying historic events to make your argument fit is the tool of the intellectual incompetent.

    • The 1938 German Weapons Act prohibited Jews from possessing any dangerous weapons, including firearms. We would be vulnerable in the same way if guns were registered, then confiscated. I think that is the point of the article.

  14. Colin, The part that you quote, refers to the individuals having arms to keep the states’ militia in check, thus well regulated. Also, the states wanted the militias to keep the federal government in check.

  15. HistoryBuff, well said – nice self description….The fact that we do have the 2nd Amend and a Constitution, makes the CT situation more alarming, no?

    • My comment was nothing about the 2nd amendment. My comment was about a politician falsifying facts to exaggerate an opinion. It doesn’t matter if one is pro 2nd amendment or con but make your point based on facts.
And as someone else pointed out that picture is neither Germany (Weimar Republic) nor taken in 1928.

  16. DEO GRATIAS for the Patriots in CT who are resisting TYRANNY and conducting a display of mass civil disobedience toward this attack by their local officials on their #2A Rights!

They are EMBOLDENING Americans in other States, just like the Patriots in CO emboldened Americans nationwide when they successfully recalled some of their Gun-Grabbing officials

I hope Americans everywhere will strongly support their compatriots in both CT and CO

    RESIST

    DEFY

  17. “A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of Independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”

  18. Has anyone taken a close look at the picture labeled “1928 Germany”? Look a little closer at the men in the uniforms and you will notice they are not German but French. Either French police or military, but not German. While I like Allen West, I am wondering just what else is wrong in his presentation if they are too lazy to actually get a correct photo to make their point.

  19. I read the article. The argument, that making gun laws against law abiding citizens, is like tyranny is no different than saying; Making laws against law abiding drivers of motor vehicles, is tyranny. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to drive 110 m.p.h. Or after I have had 2 beers? The reason they have these laws is because of public safety. Mass gun killings have become routine in the U.S. It is a matter of public safety.

    • Speed limits aren’t a Constitutional right – the freedom to possess firearms is. There’s a difference between safety and control.

    • If public safety were the issue, Barach Hussein Obama would have by now done a Rose Garden Perp Walk and be in custody, along with his crew of sycophants, charged under RICO laws. Hitler, Mao and Castro each had their definitions of ‘public safety’ and in each case killed millions in its pursuit. Be armed. Be trained. Have a Plan … !

    • Total Bovine Scatology. Do you think having a “registered” gun is going to stop someone from taking the gun to a local establishment and doing harm? Just like no law is going to stop some moron from driving 110 mph in your neighborhood if he feels like doing it. Laws are written for the criminal but obeyed by the honest citizen. This is nothing more than a liberal “feel good” law that does nothing for public safety and everything to make the left feel all tingily and good about themselves.
This used to be a hell of a country.

      • “Public Safety” interesting catch phrase…………its a kin to fishing with a net you grab up everything. Does this in anyway really equate to justice? The democrats have an agenda and that is power, absolute power by any means. The disarming of America is for the sole purpose of taking away all of the power of the people in this country, to ensure supreme governmental power. It can’t be seen in any other way. Any one who has anything good to say about the Nazi’s is insane.
All law abiding citizens of this country have a right to bear arms as it should be and no governmental agency has a right to go against that right. Anyone who violates the Constitution is a criminal.

    • Not four blocks away from the White House in the evening are pimps and prostitutes; out and about and open for business according to a show last night on TV. If that weren’t sad enough because of how these poor souls are treated by their pimps and Johns alike, they have among their stable minor age girls ready and available for this kind of abusive life. The law is the law is the law. There are those who could care less and those who hide behind the falsity of too many laws to count which are on the books. “Four blocks from the White House.” http://www.couragetolaugh.com.

    • But we aren’t taking away everyone’s car because a few people drive 110 m.p.h. or a drunk driver kills someone every hour. We punish those who break the traffic code, with this we are punishing those that follow the law.

    • There have been less killings by gun in the past decade. The left-wing media is just reporting on more of the shootings. Check your facts!

  20. This flies directly in the face of the Constitution. They gun owners who did not register their guns after people after my own heart. They are crazy if the register them. The laws are put into law by tyrannical law makers, who for the sole purpose of controling the general law abiding citizen.
This does nothing to stop or slow down criminals. The will and do obtain weapons to commit crimes. All anyone has to do is pay attention to Chicago which had the strictest gun control in the country and also the highest crime and murder rate by guns in the country. Those states with little gun control have the most peace, why? because criminals know that home owners have guns and it deters them from breaking into peoples homes

  21. It doesnt say in the constitution”you have the right to drive a car” .Compare apples to apples. We have the right to bear arms. Gun laws take the guns out of the honest peoples hands. America! Wake Up! Besides that, more people die and are permanantly
disabled by prescription medicine than all gun incidents combined. Put your concern where it is needed, not on gun control. I am so sickened by the way Americans are thinking. I hope its not the majority thinking this way so we can get things back to normal. Normal for me would be a gun in every law abiding citizens house and i dont even have a gun. Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!

  22. This comparison is either misleading or idiotic. After WWI Germans were not allowed to own guns. Period. In 1928 the Weimar Republic ALLOWED people to own guns once again. This photo shows people registering to own a gun for the first time in 10 years. When the Nazis took power, they made guns even easier to own. So get your facts straight. You look like a moron right now.

    • Even further investigation seems to indicate the soldiers in the photo are French, so the photo doesn’t even match the incorrect message.

      • “SEEMs” “Further investigation”, what did you do? Go get a magnifying glass? Come on.

      • Which argument are you pushing? That the Germans are registering to get guns and doing so at the table of the French or some other argument?

      • He is pointing out the fact that even the photo doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, let alone the rest of the “article”

      • Anyone can say something doesn’t square correctly, but the facts speak for themselves; if not precisely by the imagery of the a part of the photo, then by the representation which another part of the photo implies. Rights are being systemically eroded, curtailed, made burdensome under the auspicious of some imagined utopian goal which is to say that if there were no firearms in the world (in this case in America) there would be no deaths by shootings. A simple minded, if not all together childish and false premise; eliminating victimization by one manner (the gun, or assault weapon, or the magazine which can only hold 7 rounds, or 5, or perhaps next year it will be 3 – all arbitrarily contrived #’s of no scientific value but to say that the less the better somehow) will only make it a necessity for someone so intent to find another means of destroying other peoples lives while simultaneously doing the same to their own. So what does not hold up to scrutiny is of much more greater importance than a photo attempting to represent what in reality we know to be of greater value and truth.

    • The Nazi’s used the mandatory Weimar Republic’s gun registration to disarm all of Germany’s Jews. Also the Nazi’s disarmed all the citizens of any country in their control. The Nazi penalty for owning a gun was death. In my state the penalty for a magazine over 10 rounds is 10 years in state prison and any sentence to a state prison could be a death sentence. Andrew you might want to brush up on the History of Nazi Germany.

  23. Who cares who it is? Everyone is fighting about all the wrong things. Get together Americans. “Right to bear arms” PERIOD!

  25. How can this post be taken seriously? Not because conservatism is wrong – I don’t want you to think this post comes from a “hell-bent liberal progressive” – it is wrong because the comparison is RIDICULOUS and the rhetoric in this article is incredible. One need only read the first sentence to see it.

    • You beat me to it. This law was passed in April of 2013. “Can you imagine going to bed one night and then waking to find out that you now possess something illegal” Wow, that was a long sleep.

“However, The Blaze reports not a single letter has been sent out so far.” My god. They are sending letters… eventually… Just like the Nazi’s?

  26. The time for talking, I think, is drawing to a close. The national polling organizations have pointed out that the vast majority of citizens have gotten the point. Further discussion will only drive the electrotate nutz. The only obvious question now is — what will be DONE about it? How will he be removed from office? Will he? How can it be done legally? And, how can it be done, NOW? In my opinionl that is the tone of the next public discussion

  27. I guess I would be a class d felon in Connecticut. Any government agent that comes to take away your guns should be given your weapons, lead first.

    • All of you that are Conservative and are Patriots move South temporarily until this has been cleaned up. Get yourself you’re your family out of harm’s way.

      • Wish I could. If I had the resources I would have hightailed outta here years ago.

      • It’s the same for mostly everyone. I look at it this way: if the Patriots all got together and visited the South, it would be a different story. The Southern People and Patriots will support and help everyone. Just know you have friends in the South and all of you take the time to find them. There is lots of post from the South on freedomoutpost articles. A new article just popped up on freedomoutpost on the same issue.

  28. I have one request for the Yanks willing to give up their guns. Please do not give them away or destroy them.We good old boys in Texas would be more than willing to buy your guns.Just don`t try to con us.guns we know.

  29. Any Cops who attempt to enforce an unConstitutional law against the citizens who pay their salary, thus violating their oaths, deserve to be resisted, with force if necessary.

  30. It is apparent that those who spout off this regurgitated rhetoric has not read the complete 2nd amendment. It is not a right, but a privilege to own a gun according to the 2nd amend. Only those who were or are a member of the governments militia has the right to own or carry a gun. THose who wrote the constitution said it was not a good idea for the general population to own fire arms. Considering whats been happening, they had more common sense than you do West and others!

    • Hey, Mr. Liberal, you have been brainwashed and obviously do not know the writings of the founders. They have all stated that individual ownership of firearms is a right and a duty to protect the nation from tyranny.

Let me reintroduce you to the text of the 2nd Amendment “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms. This is not a privilege. Driving a car is a privilege. Don’t speak until you know the facts.

    • Wrong. The Second Amendment clearly states “the RIGHT of the PEOPLE” shall not be infringed. It doesn’t say the right of the militia and the privilege of the people. You have a very warped interpretation of a very clear amendment. Furthermore, the Supreme Court ruled in D.C. vs. Heller that the Second Amendment protects the RIGHT of the individual to keep and bear arms for personal defense, among other things. Notice they did not rule that the Second Amendment granted a privilege. They ruled that it protected a RIGHT, which means that the right exists independent of the Constitution. The Bill of Rights is merely a list of things the government CANNOT do. It is not a list of things that citizens are allowed to do. The Supreme Court also ruled later in McDonald vs. Chicago that the RIGHT protected by the Second Amendment also applies to the states. Sounds like you need to brush up on your Constitution and your court rulings.

    • You are right in the sense the 1792 militia act says the citizens are the militia. Our forefathers also did not like a standing army for more than 2 years. The whole idea was to be able to fight tyranny. Read some history before you post BS. If you read the notes taken during the debate on the 2nd you’ll also see at one point it was suggest those who don’t have a weapon be given one by the government. That was struck down and do you know why? The response was the government could take it away since they issued it. The 2nd amendment was about the Citizens(militia) being able to fight a tyrannical government and that is slowly what is becoming in the US.

    • You are hilarious. Like most liberals you make up history the way you wish it happened. So the general populations in the late 1700s did not need to hunt for their food because they had a grocery store òn every corner right? So foolish.

    • I always wonder how it’s possible Obama can still have a 40-something percent approval rating. Who the hell would approve of what that idiot is doing? Thanks to Vincent Hare, now I know.

  31. At least one stupid CT SWAT team will blindly follow orders and attempt a raid on “non-complier.” Then one of two things will happen next. A police officer will die or the “non-complying” citizen will die. At that instant, “AmRev II” will have begun. What will follow immediately in EVERY CONUS State is military roadblocks will go up between the major cities on all highways, to keep Second-Amendment supporting citizens from moving east to join the battle. You will not get through one of these checkpoints with weapons, ammo, water, food, or survival gear/supplies. All will be confiscated and you’ll be told to go home and stay there. At that point, all you can do is hunker down in place and when the time comes, fight, or surrender. Now would be a good time to stock up on water, food, ammo, fuel, batteries, matches, bleach/sanitary supplies, etc. And don’t forget the toilet paper and lots of trash bags for waste. There will be no electricity, no running water, no sewage service, no garbage pick up, no groceries in any store, no open drive-thru at McDonalds, no Starbucks! After the roadblocks go up, do NOT attempt to get on any highway. There will be as many “bandit” roadblocks (bandits dressed in uniforms) as ‘real’ military roadblocks. Cars will be backed up for miles and most will run out of gas. You will get NOWHERE and the roads will quickly resemble “highways of death.” Even if you have a “Cabin” in the woods, it will likely be occupied by armed squatters when you get there. If you’re going to “bug out” do it before the SHTF. And remember, the FEMA Camps are NOT for keeping you in. They’re for keeping you OUT. The FEMA camps are SAFE ZONES for police and military personnel and their immediate family members. The only way to keep police and military personnel from abandoning their posts is to provide safe haven for their families; a place with food, water, electricity, functional plumbing, a bed, etc.. Outside the FEMA camps people will be killing each other en masse, trying to protect their food, water, weapons, and ammunition supplies from looters. Tens of thousands (per state) will die in the first week from dehydration alone. Then there’s shootings and airborne disease, pestilence and disentary from the sewage, garbage, and rotting corpses filling the streets. There really will be no need for the government to attempt to hurriedly run out to regain control; it’s best strategy is to let the gun owners kill each other off until they run out of ammunition, and that will certainly happen unless the People can organize quickly. Call me crazy, but this is what my crystal ball says is coming… and coming soon.

    • I don’t think you are crazy, I agree with you. The biggest problem is the Patriots
and Conservatives are spread all over the country and no way to merge together.

    • At two to three military vehicles per roadblock, I don’t think their assets will go too far. Besides, a few well placed snipers could do a lot of good. If you have watched the events in the Ukraine you have learned a few things about resistance tactics.

  32. I am surprised it was Conn. and not CA seeing as Conn as been the home of many gun mfgrs for ages. I applaud those who stick by their rights. The actions of the Gov and others in Conn is tyranny in any definition and totally unconstitutional.

  33. I have come to a simple conclusion. It has taken me 50 years to come to this conclusion. My conclusion is that liberals do not vote for or against anything, they have no sense of Patriotism, Love of Country, Duty or Honor. They “think” they are Socialists and Communists (I hear them make this claim all the time) but have no idea what either entails, I do, I was in East Germany when 4 1/2 million people ran across the Border in 3 days, I was also Border Cav for 5 years, I also served in the DMZ, so I know what Communism looks like and it doesnt look like anything as those who believe Marx’s Utopian Society, in fact, just the opposite. So the conclusion I have to is that a “liberal” means no harm, they are just dumbasses, its that simple.

    • Oh, GD63, if only they were dumb asses! No, instead they are jack asses who will not close their mouths long enough to learn truth.

  34. Yes, agreed with the civil disobedience. This is tyranny. I find your comments on addressing the mental health issue interesting and accurate. I would add also that when the VPOTUS began the “tiger team” meetings after Sandy Hook, there was no mention of bringing the drug companies to the table. Read this http://www.wnd.com/2013/01/the-giant-gaping-hole-in-sandy-hook-reporting/ and tell me why the drug company’s feet weren’t held to the fire? We all know it’s money as the drug lobby dwarfs the gun lobby. The problem is money, not guns.

  35. I like the way the word Patriotism is thrown around to justify unlawful acts and distortion of law. THe governmtne, as a text guest, put it, gave you the citizens, the right to bear arms so they could take it away. If this govenment was as tyrannical as you try to portray, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. We would be in the streets firing on the government. But then when yo udon’t read clearly the intent of the law and constitution, you can come to any conclusion. The government should be able to recognize who has militay style weapons who don’t need or deserve them. Since the mental state of its citizens is in great question. It doesn’t want your guns, it is trying to protect you from you. You have the priviledge to own a gun for self protection. An M16 or orther type weapons is not needed in a home. If you need that kind of gun, and a normal hand gun is not enough to protect you, then your mental state is not stable enough to have one.

    • Wrong….the second amendment shall be not infringed. If the government has them we should have them. I think you need to read history…..If they come down on Connecticut we will be there with them.

    • The government did not give citizens the right to bear arms. That is a natural inherent right of humans, to protect themselves with arms and the PEOPLE DEMANDED that right be protected! Read your Constitution and American History. My rights are not determined by your opinion of my needs.

    • Mr. Hare, I would encourage you to read Federalist 28 ( and if you will make the time all of the Federalist Papers.) It is obvious from what you have stated that you are wholly unfamiliar with the founder’s intentions concerning the 2nd Amendment. Though indeed the 2nd amendment is recognized (not granted by our founding documents) as necessary to defend oneself against individual criminals; our founders also enshrined this right within our founding documents and proclaimed clearly that it was to be used against those in the seats of power who would deprive us of our GOD given rights. Our third president said that the tree of liberty must be watered betimes by the blood of tyrants and patriots. Those of us who have sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution remember this one part of the oath very clearly when we swore to defend the Constitution and thus your rights at the peril of our own lives; it is that we will defend and protect the U.S. Constitution against all enemies, foriegn and … domestic.

  36. Military style?? WTF?? That means all 1911 pistols and the M1 is banneded too??? They were all designed and used in the Military. Happy Happy Happy!!

  37. I don’t even own a gun, but what their doing in my opinion is un-constitutional. The Liberals of Connecticut have taken a tragic incident and used it to their advantage. Have they not learned anything from history? Innocent children were killed and that is awful, so do something about the mentally ill in this country. How many Jews and other innocent Germans were killed as a result of their guns being taken away? Maybe the Liberals in CT are reading their children’s Common Core History books, which if you have read anything about Common Core might explain a lot.

  38. INSANE people write articles like this. There is no comparison to taking away guns. And the constitutions says “well regulated militia” . Got to have regulations to do that.
No right is absolute (nuclear weapons are “arms” also).

    • The term “well regulated” in 18th-century parlance had NOTHING to do with “regulation by law” but had EVERYTHING to do with being “well-disciplined”, being able to “hold your fire” until necessary and being an accurate shot.

    • It would be wise for you to re-think your stance here and get on the right side of history. No “God given” right is temporary unless the God of the Bible makes it that way with His hand and word. NOT the hand of a satanic tyrant.

  39. Obtain and read “Unintended Consequences” by John Ross.
In it, you will find history and law lessons, self-defense and life-saving lessons, proof of the erosion of our God-given rights as well as viable “solutions” to solve our anti-Constitutional “problem”.
Although, out-of-print, this book is still available from various sources. It is a little pricey, but well worth it.
When this book was first published, sellers were routinely harassed by FBI, ATF and DEA types.
