New poll shows Americans want a mulligan over Obama vote

I live in PGA National, a stellar golf course community. I will admit I’ve never swung a golf club, but I love running along the courses, and I often hear people talking about do-overs and mulligans. According to recent Economist/YouGov poll, seems like a lot of Americans would like to take a mulligan regarding their vote for Obama in 2012.

The Washington Examiner reports, “Given a chance to do it all over again, only 79 percent of those who voted for President Obama would vote for him again and 71 percent of Obama voters now inclined to vote for somebody else “regret” their vote to reelect the president.

The Economist/YouGov.com poll found that Obama would lose enough votes in a rematch with Mitt Romney that the Republican would win. “Ninety percent of people who voted for Romney would do it again, compared to only 79 percent of Obama voters who would,” said the poll. The poll also found that among Obama voters interested in voting for somebody else, 71 percent regret their vote.

Here are some interesting stats about the level of regret among different groups:

— 80 percent of whites said yes they have regrets, 61 percent of blacks said no but 100 percent of Hispanics said yes as well (I find that hard to believe).
— 84 percent of women said yes they have regrets, and just 61 percent of men agreed.
— 55 percent of Democrats said yes, as did 71 percent of independents.

As the Examiner puts it, “Obama’s voters seemed to have moved on and are ready for the next election, giving Obama very early lame duck status before the midterm elections.”

Not to say I told you so, but I just wish the American electorate would have been more circumspect at the time of the election. What was so enthralling about an unaccomplished community organizer whose greatest claim to fame as a president was giving speeches, and as a US Senator, voting present – except for the novelty factor?

Not surprisingly, the liberal progressives are already at work trying to force another novelty candidate down the throats of the American people with Hillary Rodham Clinton as the first woman. Don’t forget, before Obamacare there was Hillarycare – can you name any major legislative accomplishments during her two terms as Senator? On that note, can you name any major achievements of Secretary of State Clinton besides frequent flier miles? Oh right, “what difference at this point does it make?”

So the question is, will the American people be fooled again? Remember, “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.” But what happens if we get fooled thrice? We lose a country.

  1. Many people have a sense that something bad is about to happen in (or to) our country. I’m a barber and I talk to many people each day. That sense of doom crosses all political and racial lines. I had a retired man telling me the other day that he and his wife had been out walking their neighborhood, scouting the closest water source (stream) just in case something bad happens and food and water is cut off. A retiree shouldn’t have to worry about things like that. It made me sad to think about the uncertainty they must have because of our current president.

    • I’m a senior, Patti. I’ve been retired for 4 1/2 years. I’m on SS and Medicare. My premiums went up on Medicare and my supplemental insurance. My co-pay for a specialist, which I’m going to need now because of my declining health, is $40.00….just to walk through the door. Hospital stays have gone up by $50.00 a day. My out of pocket has gone up by $1,000.00 a year and I lost my doctor of over 20 years. Obama stole over 700 billion dollars from Medicare, that was already in bad shape, to help pay for his atrocity. Isn’t he a swell guy? I saw my doctor in December for blood work. He told me that no matter what happens, he wants me to continue to see him and not worry about the money. Before I left he suggested I start taking one baby aspirin a day. My anxiety level is going through the roof and I know a lot of senior citizens are going through the same thing. How can anybody do this to us? We paid our dues. We supported this country all of our lives. And now that we’re at an age where we need some help, he pulls the rug out from under us. Only a very evil person would do something like this.

      • Obama is indeed an evil man and probably a Muslim! He’s surrounded himself with Muslims in the White House and gave the Muslim Brotherhood millions, planes and tanks!

  2. Can’t we get a real conservative as president again? We haven’t had one of those in over two decades.

(George W. Bush was much too “Big Government” to be classified as conservative)

    • Ronald Reagan was the last of our great presidents. You knew that he loved this nation, and had a conviction to make right decisions concerning her. Best of all…the world was afraid to cross us when he was in charge.

      • Mitt was a flip-flopper on several issues, one of which was his record on Abortion. That does not make Romney a Conservative.

      • Methinks you better do some homework yourself, as Romney created Romneycare for the State of Massachusetts and it includes taxpayer funded abortions. BTW, Catherine Bird was correct also in stating Mitt was a flip-flopper {^_^}

      • Me thinks YOU are the one who needs to do your homework. Romneycare is NOT the same. Mitt didn’t make it, he just signed it into law.

      • Romneycare is NOT the same as what?
Him signing it into law shows Mormons (at least this one) are not opposed to abortion. Did he or did he not have the power as governor to veto it?

      • His state wanted it so he didn’t veto it. Isn’t it great when politicians actually listen to their voters?

      • So what if his state wanted it? Still doesn’t prove the statement by the OP that Mormons are against abortion. Also, how do we know if his state wanted it or not? Were the citizens of the state allowed to vote on this important issue? Which voters do the politicians ACTUALLY listen to? The ones for or against an issue? Maybe great or not so great eh?

      • You ever heard the expression, the proof is in the pudding? Unlike Obamacare, Massachusetts had a lot MORE people than predicted sign up with Romneycare. If people didn’t want it, you’d probably have the turnout that we did with Obamacare where hardly anybody signed up. Actually, you have more people signed up with Romneycare than Obamacare to this day. Kind of sad when Obamacare is supposed to be nationwide, right?

        http://hereandnow.wbur.org/2012/02/15/massachusetts-romneycare-health

      • I’m not concerned with expressions, my point is Romney is a Mormon and OK with abortion and is also a flip flopper. Satan Care (a.k.a. Obamacare) should not exist period and is sad alright, sad sack of you know what.

      • I hated that I had to flip the switch for Romney, but there was no way in hell I was gonna vote for Obama, and I didnt want to “waste” my vote, so Romney got it. I’d do it again, even though I didnt think Romney was the right choice. At least if he tried all this crap our current pResident is doing he woulda been stopped!!

    • Illegals voted
      Dead people voted
Voting machines switched people’s votes, right in front of their eyes.
Overseas military did not receive ballots in time to mail them back in time.
People boasted that they had voted two or three times.

      • Right! Also, there was active voter suppression by the Administration. Overseas military members whose States sent ballots on time, voted, and returned their ballots found that their votes STILL did not count because return mail service was either too slow, or was intentionally held up by govt entities.

    • 140% of registered Coloradans voted for Obama. This points to MASSIVE voter fraud because only a few counties (the ones housing the cities of Denver, Golden, and Boulder) went for Obama. All the rest went for Mitt Romney in the General Election.

      • I was one in CO who voted for Romney, because I did not want Obama. I cried all day, the day after the election. I have felt a darkenss over this country ever since. I have spent almost every day since, searching the web, youtube, and listening to alternative news. I have learned so much ,and really none of it is good news. I never knew about:
The Rothschilds, Rockefellers, Astor, J.P. Morgan creating and privately owning Our Federal Reserve
        The New World Order/ Iluminati
        Agenda 21
        Common Core
        Weather modification
        Operation Paperclip
Books that opened my eyes about the corruption and takeover of our country: “The Creature of Jekyll Island” and “We Won’t Get Fooled Again- Where the Christian Right Went Wrong.”
We are in huge trouble. I doubt there wil be another presidential election. Our dollar is practiacally worthless and the other countries know it. There is a big reorgaization of world monetary funds. China has been buying “tons” of gold and now will be trading their gold backed yuan for Russian oil. Chinese are buying up US property. 60 to 70 percent of the commercial buildings in Manhattan are owned by Chinese. They just bought JP Morgan building in Manhattan for 720 million. It is the building that has nine floors underground with a vault the size of a football field. That vault used to hold a huge amount of gold. Where has the gold gone? When the dollar is no longer the world reserve currency, we won’t be able to afford to buy oil from anyone. What will happen when the oil stops flowing into this country?
How will we ship food from Chile ? How will we have any industry? How long before our country crashes and burns?

      • It is horriffic and I have absolutley no idea. Getting rid of most of our government? How do we stop the NWO elites and their machine of destruction? How do we save our dollar when there is nothing to back it up and no one wants to trade with us? Will we be the next Ukraine? There is so much evil choking our country and the world, and most people don’t know or want to believe it. Nothing sort of a miracle can help us. I do pray to God. What ideas do you have?

    • That was a debunked rumor.
One news source made the mistake of saying there were more ballots than voters… and later retracted the mistake once they realized they were counting two page ballots as two ballots, instead of one.

  3. Tis article is about a poll concerning how many people regret tehir decision n 2012 to vote for Obama. Of the people that stated that they did regret their vote, how many regret that they didn’t vote for someone more liberal in the primaries? Why is it that plls are only about a two party system? From my point of view, there is no clear distinction between Republicans and Democrats because both parties lead toward more government and less liberty. I voted for a Libertarian for President and I don’t regret wasting my vote one bit. Maybe the next Presidential Election will actually have a choice that doesn’t lead to Socialism.

    • It was a wasted vote, Ken. I believe in and live by Libertarian principles, but I’m not going to throw my vote in the can. I’m going to vote for the candidate that is closest to the principles I espouse. If all of the Libertarians and other minor parties had voted for the Republican candidate (Romney), I think we would have a better country today.

  4. Since it is water under the bridge and you cannot change what happened, You can change the future by getting rid of the clown in office. I wish I had the answer as to how to get rid of him easily, but I do not. I do have an imagination as to how to get rid of him, but it is not legal, so that’s not going to happen by me anyway.

  5. The GOP needs to find creditable candidates to run against the Democrats. They also need to go wild on “GET OUT THE VOTE” just as the liberals do. We need to take back the senate, the white house and keep the house!!!!!

    • The GOP needs to die and go away forever. When need a new party, who’s foundation of bedrock is the constitution! No games, no BS, just the constitution. IMO.

      • They blatantly disregard the First Amendment as it pertains to religion and government.
They can’t call themselves Constitutionalists, while changing the meaning of parts to suit a separate platform.

      • Are you talking about this? The following is the Constitution Party’s ‘Religious Freedom’ portion of their Platform.

        “Religious Freedom:

Article I of the Bill of Rights reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

Our Constitution grants no authority to the federal government either to grant or deny the religious expressions of the people in any place. Both the First and Tenth Amendments forbid such tyranny.

We call upon all branches of government to cease their attacks on the religious liberties of the people and the states, regardless of the forum in which these liberties are exercised.

We assert that any form of taxation on churches and other religious organizations is a direct and dangerous step toward state control of the church. Such intrusion is prohibited by the Constitution and must be halted.

We assert that private organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, can determine their own membership, volunteers, and employment based on their oaths and creeds.”

Please explain to me what about the above deviates from the original Constitution?

According to the truth of U.S. history, our Founders created a government that was denied the ability to create a national religion–as was common in every other nation at the time–and force citizens to participate. The government was also denied the ability to interfere in any citizen’s practice of their own beliefs/religion.

None of that denied the government the right to PROMOTE belief in God, nor did it deny the govt the ability to include the Bible in teaching at public schools, for they knew it teaches moral absolutes, which result in better-behaved citizens. Doing so does NOT create a religion, nor promote any particular religion.

You must understand the difference between religion and God. Religions are MAN-MADE institutions that each have their own beliefs and by-laws; none of which must follow, nor adhere to, the Bible. The 1st Amendment forbids the federal government from creating a religion of its own.

However, God is the Creator of all things, and both our Declaration of Independence, and our Constitution recognize this fact. Our Founders were Christians, who believed in promoting goodness for all peoples by recognizing all natural rights come from God, and all good governments are tasked with protecting those rights. That is how and why our Constitution was created.

They created a Christian country, which is the ONLY kind that provides for REAL religious freedom–NOT freedom FROM religion, but freedom OF religion–for ALL.

However, NO ONE person is allowed to force the rest of the citizenry to believe and follow THEIR religion. This means Atheists have NO RIGHT to use our Supreme Court to remove references to God from the public square, our public monuments, nor our public schools.

The Founders were so adamant about this, that they included the following in Article VI of the Constitution:

“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

If you have difficulty understanding their English, the above quote means that, while everyone who serves in government must support the Constitution, they are NOT required to be religious. If such a statement were not included, then everyone running for office would have to reveal their beliefs, and would be disqualified if they were not Christian. THAT is the definition of religious freedom.

America was NOT founded as a secular country, but a CHRISTIAN country that does not force its Christianity on anyone–even those who wish to serve in its government.

Got a problem with that? Immigrate to a different country.

      • You are incorrect in both your interpretation of the First Amendment and the very basic founding principles of this great nation.

And that your phony Constitution Party supports promoting religion in any forum (a subtle way of saying through government and on public land is okay) shows that they only stand for their twisted interpretation of the Constitution.

Move to Iran if you want to live in a theocracy.

      • Brendan, it’s obvious you’ve been “educated” by Progressives or Atheists in our public schools.

They haven’t taught the truth about our nation’s history since about 1900, so I forgive you your lack of knowledge. However, as a free citizen with access to the Internet as well as a library (both sources of knowledge), you have the ability to learn the Truth for yourself, so GET CRACKIN’!

There is a huge difference between a ‘theocracy,’ and a Christian Republic. Not to mention, the “religion” you speak of is NOT really a religion at all, but a politcal ideology masked as a “religion” by the liars who wish to use religious freedom to spread their ideology.

Let me give you clue about the Republic: Get yourself a copy of the U.S. Constitution and READ IT! Read the last paragraph of Article VI, please. Do so over and over, until you finally grasp the concept. If our Founders had NOT included…”but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States,” THEN our Republic would have been a theocracy. Religious Freedom.

      • It must give you comfort to just assume that anyone who disagrees with you has been misinformed.

I’ve read the Constitution and I’ve read the Founders’ explanations of its meaning.
You should read the writings of James Madison and what he said the meaning of the First Amendment was.
He wrote it and can give you a better answer than your revisionists.
        You’ve been misinformed.

Also it is typical of religious radicals to dismiss all other religions as not being real religions.

  6. “What was so enthralling about an unaccomplished community organizer whose greatest claim to fame as a president was giving speeches, and a US Senator voting present …”?
I couldn’t have said it better!!!!

  7. This Jack-in-Office was selected by the Far Leftists, of which Geo. Soros is only one, for the furthering of the NWO agenda. And he was backed and funded by these types. As Soros stated, ” America is the sole and only last obstacle to the NWO and global governance.
