Colts, Pats, 49ers, Panthers, Seahawks, Saints, Chargers, Broncos -where to start?

We had a nail-biting end to the college football season with the dramatic win of Florida State over Auburn in the final 13 seconds. Last week we were enthralled with San Francisco’s last second field goal victory in the frozen tundra of Green Bay. The Indianapolis Colts showed us what a never quit attitude means by coming back from a 38-10 deficit in the second half to win 45-44 over the Kansas City Chiefs. The San Diego Chargers went into a driving freezing rain and defeated the Cincinnati Bengals. And against all the odds, the New Orleans Saints went on the road, not in a dome, and beat the Philadelphia Eagles and their high powered offense.

So what will be the surprise game, or games, this week? It is indeed a great lineup for the Divisional playoff round in the NFL as we draw closer to the Super Bowl. The Colts will travel to Foxboro Mass to take on the Patriots pitting two very capable come-from-behind QBs against each other. Will home field make a difference for the Pats? Really close call on this one.

The 49ers head to Charlotte to take on the surging Carolina Panthers led by QB Cam Newton. The game will pit two of the most mobile and exciting young QBs against each other, Colin Kaepernick truly showed his toughness in Green Bay last week. The once seemingly lifeless Chargers have to go back to Mile High Stadium in Denver, where they just recently won, to take on Peyton Manning and the Broncos. We all know that Peyton has a penchant for “choking” in a big game, but I don’t think it will be this weekend.

And lastly, Drew Brees and the Saints head back to Seattle where they got a woodshed beatdown earlier in the season to take on the amazing Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. However, it is the “12th Fan'” the amazingly loud Seahawk crowd that could once again make a difference, along with the weather — typical Northwest Pacific chilling rain. Can the Saints pull a repeat on the road, with adverse weather conditions, and continue their march to get back to the Super Bowl?

Well, the stage has been set and I will be in front of the TV with my popcorn. At least my hometown Atlanta Falcons will get a high first round draft pick, hope they choose Jadaveon Clowney out of South Carolina, as we need some boosting of our front four. Hard to believe the Falcons were 14-2 last year and 4-12 this year, ouch, the Dirty Bird needs a shower.

Ok, let’s hear from the West Nation football fans! Who are your picks for this weekend? Show your pride!

I am a ‘college football’ fan – specifically the Oklahoma Sooners, but I am rooting for the Saints, just because. [I’ll watch for Kenny Stills, and hope he plays well.]

Stills is one of my favorite newcomers this year. I’ve been high on him since pre-season.

Interesting that people say Manning chokes. I have watched a lot of NFL games and have yet to see a QB play defense. So the QB is responsible for everything the team does on the field?

I don’t follow the NFL as passionately as I do college football but I pick the Panthers because I am an Auburn fan and a Cam Newton fan. War Eagle and go Panthers!

Colts run out of “Luck” with the Patriots winning by 7; New Orleans gets another woodshed beatdown *as you so eloquently put it, LTC West 🙂 * by the Seahawks; The Bolts shock Manning and the Broncos out of the running; and Carolina squeezes by the 49ers by 2

Seattle of course! Although I wish the Detroit Lions had played well enough to be in the playoffs, Seattle should take the Saints fairly easily today.

NINERS all the way to be the super bowl Kap has been unleashed our boys are healthy!!! Of course I want the Saints to beat the 13th man Aderall in Seattle. Get some wireless Beats for the 12th man!!! I would likevto see the Bolts win but think it will be the Broncos. New England and Colts now that’s a toss up.

Panthers “D-fence” to stop Niners, Cam will produce enough offense (without Smith) to take the win. Saints and Seattle a tossup, but the Saints are prepared. They may possibly pull out the upset. Denver wins easy, NE in a close one.

3 road teams won last week. The only home team to win last week, Indy, will lose on the road this week. The other three home teams will also win bringing an end to the road teams dream. It’s all at home, folks. Home Field Advantage will rule this week.

I pray my Saints will pull it out today but I know it’s a long shot. They surprised everyone, including me, last week—another miracle isn’t too much to hope for 🙂

And, as I did with the Sooners, I’ll be praying for the Saints – for greater strength, sharper vision, quicker moves, and a settled mind.
