Michelle Obama, CGI and the $678 million connection

As I am reflecting back on 2013, these little factoids were sent my way by a dear friend, Miami Mike of South Florida’s “Wheels on the Road” magazine. Pictured here is the first couple, along with Toni Townes-Whitley, a top executive at CGI and longtime friend.

  • Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85 was a classmate of Michelle Obama’s. They are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni, and in school were both in the groups Organization of Black Unity (OBU), and Third World Center (TWC).
  • Townes-Whitley is a senior vice president at Canadian company CGI Federal, which earned the contract to build the (so far) $678 million Obamacare enrollment website.
  • George Schindler, the president of CGI Federal’s Canadian parent CGI Group, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract.

Now of course the progressive socialists who troll this website will try to change the subject by bringing up Dick Cheney and Halliburton or God knows what else. But I thought Barack Obama promised a new way of governing and not the old DC as usual politics.

He also promised the “most transparent administration” in the history of the United States. Hmm, seems to me lies and crony capitalism at the expense of the American taxpayer has reached new heights.

Have a look at those cheery smiles — especially those of you who will find out on January 2nd that you have NO healthcare coverage and NO doctor will see you. Gaze upon the faces of political elitism — doggone, if we’re not the victims of the biggest case of fraud ever perpetrated against the American people.

As Thomas Sowell says, “If you have been voting for politicians who promise to give you goodies at someone else’s expense, then you have no right to complain when they take your money and give it to someone else, including themselves.”

Happy New Year from the Obamas — and their court of liberal progressive aristocrats laughing all the way to the bank with the money you voted to give them.

When Obama makes a public address he speaks to low information voters. Those that already support him will believe everything he says. So, if any concern becomes public knowledge, such as NSA spying on citizens for instance, all Obama has to do is state that he is against it and will take care of it! Ha! The number of times Obama has made such statements are so numerous one couldn’t recount them all, and they are all untruths! If the media were being honest and addressing Obama with real questions then he wouldn’t get away with this. It’s just like… Read more »

Simply ridiculous. Not only is President Obama trying to destroy America but you also have American citizens who voted for President Obama, are also complicit in this brazen attempt to destroy the US of A.

Really? You seem to agree with my assessment of Obama, and I’m certainly not one that voted for this socialist. He is the biggest threat to the US way of life that exist today. If I am wearing a tin foil hat, it’s one that is being shared by a lot of other Americans.

I certainly don’t agree with your “assessment” of the President.
Perhaps you see YOUR way of life being destroyed by all of these “socialist” Americans. For your assessment to be true, then the majority of Americans, who voted for President Obama, would support his “socialist” agenda and would want to destroy their country. This is ridiculous..

Maybe you’re just witnessing the evolution of America and your version of America is becoming extinct. America continues to evolve.

Yes, you are correct, we are witnessing an evolution. An evolution which has included doubling the amount of people on food stamps in 5 years, the highest average unemployment rate of any president in 80 years, greatest decrease in median income with the biggest drop affecting minorities, the lowest workforce participation rate ever according to all BLS data, the largest increase in our national debt by any president by far, millions losing their health insurance, attacks on our Constitution, more scandals that make Nixon look like a saint, and a list of broken promises so long I don’t have time to… Read more »

Of course they supported his socialist views or they wouldn’t have voted for him. They certainty didn’t vote for him for his accomplishments. Have you ever studied history? Socialism has never worked and never will. If America is “evolving” to a country where government controls everything, people have no incentive to do anything, why should they, and you think this is a good thing? Your kool aid pitcher is running over and the US is headed the way of all socialist nations, a path to destruction. You are delusional to think that the US is becoming a socialist nation based on this President’s administration. The government doesn’t control everything thus removing the incentive for people to “work”. It’s interesting that the “welfare” that is given to corporations is often ignored but efforts to help American citizens eat and survive are attacked and the recipients are vilified. Why isn’t there a cry to have corporations, who actually hire people, to begin to hire American citizens instead of sitting back on the largest profits in history? hatssourdough, good stuff. I am in the same sort of “discussion” with Earle on this thread. One has lost all common sense when he/she can’t even admit that the CGI situation exposes the risk of cronyism when your college friends company is rewarded a contract over many other companies even when CGI had a record of failed contracts including one with the Canadian Government on one in the medical arena. Oh. The dreaded Affordable Healthcare Act boogie man. The old healthcare system was so much more efficient and affordable. Right? You can’t drive a car without insurance? Why? You can not paint an entire group of people with the same brush. Are there people that cheat, lie and steal? Yep. But ALL people on welfare are not cut from the same cloth. Studies have reported that the welfare fraud is very low as compared to the families who actually need and appropriately receive assistance. You still ignore the issue of corporate welfare, which accounts for a huge chunk of the money from government than the welfare to families. CGI began working with HHS during the Bush administration. They have continued to work with HHS under the Obama administration long before the ACA. One woman voted absentee for over 8 of her relatives AND voted in person for herself and told them to vote in person also. Why no lawsuits? Why no calls from the Republicans to invalidate the election?

Nothing has been done because no tangible evidence of rampant voter fraud actually exists.

Matthew Barber
Guest

Lots of evidence exists, you aren’t willing to see it though. No lawsuits because you have to prove things beyond a reasonable doubt in court, and some people are too unreasonable for that to happen. Also, this would be one heck of a dangerous precedent for a court to invalidate the results of an election.

Denmark Vesey
Guest

You already had the Supreme court rule on the results of a Presidential election so there is already legal precedence for the courts making a legal decision that can affect an election.

There isn’t any significant evidence of voter fraud that would hold up under the scrutiny of a court. If there was all of this rampant voter fraud that resulted in the election of the President, it is not possible that efforts would not be taken to invalidate the election results.

This talk of some sort of conspiracy is just that. Talk.

From : http://washingtonexaminer.com/feds-reviewed-only-one-bid-for-obamacare-website-design/article/2537194

“CGI was one of 16 companies that had been qualified by HHS during President George W. Bush’s second term to deliver, without public competition, a variety of hardware, software and communication products and services.”
So CGI had a history of working with HHS in no-bid contracts under Bush. Was it “crony capitalism” then too?

Would someone please explain to Mr. West the difference between “millions” and “billions” since he clearly has no concept of which is greater.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/feds-reviewed-only-one-bid-for-obamacare-website-design/article/2537194

CGI was one of 16 companies that had been qualified by HHS during President George W. Bush’s second term to deliver, without public competition, a variety of hardware, software and communication products and services.

So CGI had a history of working with HHS in no-bid contracts which began under President Bush. Interesting. Was it “crony capitalism” then too, Mr. West?

Maybe not, but there was a company that offered to do the website for FREE and their offer was declined, so you tell me.

Great Matt, but why is this the first time anyone has heard of this free offer? I can’t locates any verifiable source that supports your claim.

Earle – sure there were 16 companies that had qualified for for no- bid in 2007. Well how come CGI was magically selected and not one of the other 15? Luck of the draw, magic fairy dust, mirrors? Oh perhaps since Toni Townes joined the company in 2010 after dear leader was elected?? obama should have DISQUALIFIED them from consideration for the simple fact of the past relationship with his wife and the impropriety that results. The contract for the unaffordable care website was awarded in 2011. That IS cronyism.

Earle Crosswait

You make a lot of assumptions not supported by facts. What were these other 15 companies hired to do? Did they all work for HHS? Why is this cronyism now, when hiring the same company wasn’t cronyism before? From what source(s) are you getting your information?

Well Earle, I’m quoting you. You’re the one that was using the “CGI was one of 16 companies that had been qualified by HHS during President George W. Bush’s” quote not me. Now that I use it you’re asking me to validate my information, really?? I’m not going to do your homework. Look it up yourself. You did not just quote me – you went on to make unfounded insinuations, implying that the only reason CGI continued to work with HHS is because of Toni Townes. So I ask you for some evidence and you call it “my homework”. The issue here Bizowner, is that you have NO EVIDENCE, none. Referencing the past is proof that Obama had no reason to question their effectiveness. Were there problems with the roll-out, yes. That is not proof of corruption. Please go look up the word “imply”. You do not have to say it was the only reason – instead you claim cronyism which means the deciding reason they went with CGI is the familiarity between Michelle Obama and Toni Townes. It means exactly the same thing.
As for putting words into YOUR mouth, how about you stop doing it to other people first. I never claimed that 600million was okay no have I professed any love for Obama. That was just more word salad from a guy that has no point to make.

Maybe you don’t know what the word “imply” means. You do not have to say the word “only” in order to imply it. I certainly don’t understand why you object to having me “put words in [your] mouth” when you do it all the time in the comments you post. If you offer a contract to a company because you already have a history of working with them, it is NOT cronyism. I will say it. With our economy and unemployment in the tank All contracts should go to any reputable American company. I HAVE A QUESTION, WHERE DID ALL OF THE EXCESS MONEY GO? Who knows, there are many countries that a person can have a numbered account.

Sadly for all your conspiracy theory nutbags. the facts screw up your delusions. The contract to develop HealthCare.gov grew out of CGI’s initial bid and contract to provide technology services for the Department of Health and Human Services, a process which began in 2007, three years before Toni Townes-Whitley joined CGI and two years before Barack Obama became President.

However, the contract for the unaffordable care website was awarded in 2011, last time I checked that was 1) after dear leader was elected and 2) after TT was with CGI

By the way, Toni Townes-Whitley did not join CGI until May 2010, just a few months before this enormous, no-bid contract expansion. This deal stinks of the absolute worst type of Chicago style crony capitalism. Tony Rezko would be so proud.

Bryan Hinnen

Sure, the CGI contract provided technology services to HHS. Sure, the process started in 2007. But the contract was expanded to include the creation of the Obamacare website in 2010, and it was an enormous expansion of the original contract. Furthermore the contract expansion was a NO-BID procedure (which means that other companies were not allowed to enter competitive bids) and the cost overruns are currently more than $600 million. Just another example of smoke and mirrors from one of Obama’s loyal sycophants, where disinformation is a way of life.

CGI Federal got a total of $678 million for various services under
