No fast track for Obama’s next power grab

President Obama is seeking power the Constitution has assigned to Congress. Soon, he will formally ask Congress to surrender its constitutional authority and grant him “Fast Track” Trade Promotion Authority.

And House Republicans are inexplicably ready to give it to him.

Members of Congress who take our Constitution seriously will follow Nancy Reagan’s advice and Just Say No.

Article One, Section 8 of the Constitution assigns Congress the exclusive responsibility to set the terms of “commerce with foreign nations” — trade. The Founders established this clear check and balance to prevent the president from unilaterally negotiating deals that reward his supporters while harming opponents or the nation as a whole.

Under Fast Track, Obama would be able to sign commercial trade agreements before Congress votes on them. Congress would not even be able to amend the agreements in any way — it would only have an up-or-down vote when the president says so, before members could even read it.

While Congress has delegated authority to presidents in the past, it was based on the premise that the legislative branch could trust the executive branch to respect Congress’ constitutional role. This administration has breached that trust.

Under pressure from the Dems, a lot of banks used the “Fast Track” to approve home mortgages and look how that turned out. One can’t help but think it was intentional…part of their “gotta create a problem to fix a problem and get us some votes”. Only now we are on to them and their tactics and can stand up and just SAY NO.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s getting close to Halloween or if it’s because I happen to think of him this way every day but, obama’s hands look scarier and scarier, like evil claws.

Didn’t he just get it with this last bill to open the government? I read the following in a Facebook post; MoveOn.org Unleashes Petition to Arrest Conservative Leaders on Sedition Charges for Opposing Obamacare! October 17, 2013 // By: Joe Calandra Jr. // Today’s News // No Comment – See more at: http://www.libertynews.com/2013/10/moveon-org-unleashes-petition-to-arrest-conservative-leaders-on-sedition-charges-for-opposing-obamacare/#sthash.7d6qXzt2.dpuf The Senate plan includes a proposal offered by McConnell in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis that allows Congress to disapprove of the debt ceiling increase, which means lawmakers will formally vote on whether to reject a debt ceiling increase until Feb. 7. Obama can veto that legislation… Read more »

Obama will win this too. Except for Syria he has not been stopped or held accountable for anything no matter how Unconstitutional. I must be a racist because I can guarantee a white Republican would have never gotten away with most, if not all of, Obama’s heinous behavior.

I do not support the overthrowing of our Constitution. However maybe in the next election we can overthrow those politicians that do not want to adhere to it.

John: I agree. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…people need to do their own homework and find out all they can about candidates before voting. And they shouldn’t be so quick to “believe” a candidate just because they have an “R” after their name. There are “bad actors” on both sides of the aisle, posing to be something they are not. Well, acting is for Hollywood whereas, DC is (should be) a place for leadership.
